Cassegrain Telescopes

Looking for Celestron Cassegrain Telescopes? We stock a great range online and ship from Sydney to anywhere in Australia or New Zealand. A Cassegrain style telescope looks like a short stubby refractor where light goes in one end, and you look out the other. Unlike a refractor which uses a lens at the front of the telescope to collect light, a Cassegrain uses a mirror at the bottom of to reflect light up the tube to bounce off a curved mirror through the hole in the main mirror. You observe or attach a camera at the rear of the telescope. In telescopes like SCT (Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope) or Maksutov the glass lens at the front of the telescope is used to make corrects to the quality of the image and doesn't actually concentrate light like a refractor would.
