Concept The Nagler Type 7 series was developed as a natural extension of our highly regarded, 85°, limited edition Apollo 11 eyepiece. However, the series can also be thought of as an extension of the long eye relief Nagler Type 4 concept. With the all-new Type 7 design layout, we achieved our goal of Apollo 11-like performance across a series of focal lengths that are eyeglass friendly.
Design Goals The design goal was simple. The performance of each of the Type 7 focal lengths must equal or exceed that of the Apollo 11 eyepiece in the areas of full-field sharpness, contrast, distortion correction, eye relief, and pupil comfort, but across an 82° apparent field of view instead of 85°.
Design Details If you have been waiting for a Nagler series for eyeglass wearers, the Type 7 is it. Combining the expansive 82° apparent field of view with 19 mm of eyeglass friendly eye relief, and large eyelens, the Nagler Type 7s give a new dimension to the "spacewalk" viewing effect. An easily adjustable, locking eye-guard is included for those who don't wear eyeglasses. It helps to correctly position your eye to the exit pupil so you don't get too close to the eyelens, as well as blocks contrast-robbing stray light from interfering with the view. Speaking of which, of course we've applied all the optical coating and baffling features Tele Vue eyepieces are known to maximize contrast and complement the fully corrected field; revealing beautifully natural star colors with pinpoint sharpness. The optical layout affords unrivalled parfocality throughout the four focal lengths and even between 1¼" and 2" modes when used with the Tele Vue Hi-Hat 1¼" and 2" adapter (ASF-8125). The Type 7 series is also parfocal with all other 1¼" Tele Vue eyepieces (except 40 mm Plössl) when those eyepieces are used in the Tele Vue Hi-Hat 1¼" and 2" adapter (ASF-8125). Available in focal lengths of 5.5, 9, 14, and 19-mm, the Type 7s complement the 22-mm Type 4 and 31 mm Type 5 as eyeglass friendly Naglers.
The Nagler Type 7 models all weight 19 to 21 oz / 540 to 590 gm.
Why Are There 4 Types of Naglers?
To achieve various features requires different design tradeoffs and thus the different types of Nagler eyepieces. The largest possible true fields of view for an 82°' apparent field of view in both 2" and 1¼" formats are achieved with the Nagler Type 5 series, with focal lengths of 31 and 16 mm
Compact size in medium to short focal lengths is achieved with the Nagler Type 6, available in focal lengths of 13, 11, 9, 7, 5, and 3.5 mm.
To achieve eyeglass friendly eye relief without excessively large and heavy designs requires the other two Nagler types. The 22mm Type 4 and 19, 14, 9, 5.5 mm Type 7 with their long eye relief feature adjustable height eyeguards and are best for eyeglass wearers or Dioptrx™ users.

The Sky-Watcher VIRTUOSO GTi 127/1500 Maksutov Cassegrain table top Dobsonian is a GOTO telescope that's ideal for beginners and experienced observers who want to get straight into their star gazing.
This small telescope is highly portable and has full GOTO and tracking capabilities.
Download the SynScan app from the Apple or Android store and connect to the Wifi network generated by the Sky-Watcher VIRTUOSO mount. You don't need an Internet connection to use the telescope once you've installed the SynScan app, so it's great for observing in dark sky sites where there a mobile phone signal mightn't be available.
Aligning the mount takes mere minutes with the “Bright Object” alignment mode. The computerised SynScan system allows automatic pointing and tracking of more than 42,000 object in the sky including planets star cluster, nebulae and even galaxies. This means less time spent finding that faint nebula or a distant planet and more time to enjoy observing.
The Maksutov-Cassegrain is a compact and powerful optical design that combines a front meniscus lens and two mirrors. The optical tube is closed by the front meniscus, keeping the mirrors protected from atmospheric agents such as humidity, dust and pollution. The tube is short but the focal length is long allowing high magnification with the standard eyepieces. With maximum practical magnification of 256x , this Sky-Watcher Telescope will reveal details in Saturn’s rings, Jupiter’s bands, the Martian polar ice caps, and the phases of Venus and the moon.
The VIRTUOSO GTi Dobsonian Mount requires 12v DC and can be run on batteries. BINTEL can supply an additional 12v power adaptor or rechargeable portable battery pack to suit your needs.

There is a good chance the TeleVue Delos will be seen as the ultimate combination of performance, viewing comfort and price. If you've been keeping a spot in your case for an affordable, premium eyepiece, you should consider a Delos - you won't be disappointed! Lessons learned from the tremendously successful Ethos series were applied to develop this long eye-relief, 72° apparent field of view eyepiece line.
All focal lengths feature 1.25" barrels making them suitable for almost any telescope or even bino-viewers!
Tele Vue Delos 3.5mm - Specifications
- Model # EDL-03.5
- Focal Length 3.5mm
- Barrel Size 1.25"
- Apparent Field of View 72°
- Eye Relief 20mm
- Weight 499g
- Field Stop 4.4mm
Background:
In 2011 Tele Vue introduced the Delos, mid-to-short focal length line of 20mm eye-relief, 72° apparent field of view eyepieces. Every optical, mechanical, and ergonomic aspect was rethought to achieve reference-standard performance for any visual application.
The Delos was conceived as a narrower field Ethos. Reducing the field to 72° allowed freedom to increase eye-relief, while controlling pupil aberrations, all without making the eyepiece too large. With Ethos performance standards as benchmarks, the Delos design achieves full field sharpness, virtually perfect f θ (theta) distortion mapping, and color neutrality. Image fidelity is maximized utilizing glass matched multicoatings and anti-reflection surfaces throughout the eyepiece.
Contrast is further enhanced with a new, continuously adjustable height eyeguard system that can be locked in any position. Since the Delos eye-lens measures a quite large 35mm in diameter, preventing stray light from reflecting off the first surface and extraneous light from entering your eye pays off in a nice increase in perceived contrast. The eyeguard's sliding action allows for positioning the soft rubber eyeguard at the ideal height to suit the observer's preference. Indicator marks on the eyepiece body are handy reference guides for setting your perfect position. The eye-guard can also rotate for Dioptrx users.

Reviews
Sky & Telescope Hot New Product for 2012 Award
More Than Expected (Delos 6 and 10mm)
And while the 20 mm of eye relief make them attractive for those was observe wearing eyeglasses, it was the "distinctly pleasurable" observing experience that most impressed our reviewer. When it comes to eyepiece design, The Delos seems to have hit all the sweet spots.
— Editors. "Hot New Products for 2012". Sky & Telescope (January 2012). p.39.
Excerpt from ATT review of Delos 6- & 10-mm eyepieces:
Wide-Field Eyepieces That Pack a Planetary Punch
With the Delos, the eyepiece simply "disappears" and allows the observer to observe. I could find nothing whatsoever to complain about; the "twist and tighten" eye relief adjustment feature is the best I've ever seen in any eyepiece, and the optics are essentially perfect. Tele Vue somehow always finds a way to continuously improve upon their eyepieces and the Delos is certainly no exception. Bottomline: If you're in the market for a planetary eyepiece, you owe it to yourself to consider the Tele Vue Delos.
— Erik Wilcox. "Tele Vue Delos". Astronomy Technology Today (Nov-Dec 2011). Full Review.
Review of the 6mm & 10mm Delos from Astronomy Magazine, December 2011
- Contrast was excellent - right up there with some of the best planetary eypeices I've ever used.
- I searched but saw no internal reflections or scattering in either eyepiece.
- The flat field the Delos eyepieces produce really made star fields pop. Open clusters epitomized the old standard "diamonds on velvet". Stars on and off axis showed no sign of astigmatism.
- Tele Vue has constructed an eyepiece that stands with the best deep-sky and planetary eyepieces on the market.
- — Trusock, Tom. "Astronomy tests Tele Vue's new eyepiece line". Astronomy Magazine (December 2011). Full Review.
Excerpts from Sky & Telescope, June 2011, review of Delos eyepieces:
WHAT WE LIKE:
Essentially perfect optics
"Immersive" observation experience
WHAT WE DON'T LIKE:
I spent several nights viewing the Moon, Saturn, stars and nebulae with a variety of telescopes … .
The Delos eyepieces are "easy to look through … . They have flat fields, delivering absolute pinpoint stars from edge to edge with no hint of color aberration. The view, especially during the daytime, is very pure with no noticeable color tint. And there wasn't a hint of ghosts or reflections, even with the brightest stars".
"What caught me a bit off guard, however, was something that's best described as the observing experience. It was distinctly pleasurable."
"I have the sensation of looking out of a circular window rather than into an eyepiece."
— di Cicco, Dennis. "Tele Vue's New Delos Eyepieces". Sky & Telescope (June 2011). p. 58, 59.

The TMB Super Plossl Series
The TMB Super Plossl series is a clear upgrade over the basic eyepieces supplied with most telescopes, offering sharper images, better contrast, and improved build quality at an accessible price point.
Using a classic 4 element Plossl optical design and a 50 degree apparent field of view, these eyepieces deliver bright, well corrected views across the field. Fully multi coated optics enhance light transmission and reduce internal reflections, helping planetary detail stand out more clearly and deep sky objects appear cleaner and more defined compared to standard kit eyepieces.
Each eyepiece features a standard 1.25 inch barrel with filter threads, solid metal construction, and protective caps, making them a dependable addition to any observing kit.
The TMB 6mm Super Plossl
The 6mm TMB Super Plossl delivers high magnification, making it well suited for detailed lunar and planetary observing when atmospheric conditions are steady. It is capable of bringing out fine structure in lunar craters, planetary cloud bands, and ring detail in capable telescopes.
As with most short focal length Plossl designs, eye relief is tight at this magnification. For observers who prioritise viewing comfort during extended high power sessions, the TMB PlanetView 6mm Planetary Eyepiece is an excellent alternative, offering a more comfortable eye relief and wider field while maintaining strong planetary performance.
The 6mm Super Plossl is a solid choice for adding affordable high magnification capability to your eyepiece set.

Born and raised in remote Broken Hill, Trevor Barry left school after year ten to work in the mines. Years later, a single glimpse of Saturn through a colleague's telescope knocked Trevor's world completely off its axis, turning his whole life upside down.
With his newfound passion and armed with decades of outback know-how, Trevor set about building an observatory in his backyard using bits and pieces from his shed, a second-hand washing machine motor, rainwater tank parts and an old catamaran wire. It took some canny negotiations with his wife, Cheryl, 'the Gorgeous and Adorable', whose prized garden took a battering - especially when he decided to add a second storey - but before long Trevor was not just gazing at the stars but capturing extraordinary images of the planets.
Over the years, Trevor's love affair with Saturn, 'the ringed jewel of the solar system', only grew more passionate, and in his early fifties he did a degree in astronomy, topping his class.
When he recorded a massive storm on Saturn from his backyard observatory, he alerted NASA. The world's greatest space agency took note and invited Trevor to contribute to its interplanetary research - leading to opportunities far beyond Broken Hill and even Trevor's wildest dreams.
Today, when he's not tending the greens at his local bowls club, Trevor can usually be found in his backyard, collecting data for international research projects. His work is held in high regard by professional astronomers, and his observations are published in peer-reviewed scientific journals around the world.
About Trevor
Trevor Barry has called Broken Hill home his whole life. At 17, he started work in the local mines and built a good life there, married to his high school sweetheart, Cheryl, the Gorgeous and Adorable. But then Trevor fell in love again - not with Cheryl, but with a planet: Saturn. Just one look through a telescope changed his life forever. Design
At the heart of the Founder Optics FOT016 is premium performance 3-element ED APO triplet refractor, designed by a famous optical designer in based in Japan. The optical performance is impressive as a two ED glass elements are employed.
Unlike most ED triplet telescopes which use only 1 ED glass element, Founder Optics adopted 2 ED glass of S-FPL 53 and S-FPL 51 to bring a remarkable image that you'll immediately spot with even a casual viewing. With two fluoro-crown ED glass elements and fully multi-coated optics, these Founder Optics refractors provide a crystal clear, superb sharp, zero aberration and distortion image to your eyes or camera sensor.
In addition, each element is fully separated or air spaced which is not common even among APO triplet telescopes. This offers further improvements to the already impressive optical quality.
Quality
In order to complete this unique design, it requires a very high level machining and assembly capability. Founder Optics partner with an experienced factory located in Taiwan with over 50 years experience in precision manufacturing, especially for Japanese companies.
Besides manufacturing know-how, the high standard of quality control is also crucial to producing FOT86 and FOT106 telescopes. This is recorded in a Quality Certification Card.
Every unit is thoroughly tested, and these unique records help customers understand the quality of their telescope. Founder Optics take their quality checking very seriously as they aim to offer the best triplet APO telescopes to BINTEL customers.
