Remove the lens from your camera and attach the T-ring in its place. Since the T-ring is camera-brand specific, it will snap right on just like a lens. Next, remove the diagonal and visual back from the rear cell of your telescope. Screw the Celestron T-Adapter onto the rear cell threads until secure. Now, thread the T-ring & camera onto the T-Adapter. That’s all there is to it. The camera is now using your telescope as a giant telephoto lens. The magnification will depend on the telescope’s focal length. For instance, a 300 mm camera lens is considered to be pretty powerful, right? Well, if you are using an 8” SCT at prime focus, you’ve got yourself a 2000 mm lens with a lot of light-gathering capability!
Prime focus photography is popular for short exposure images of terrestrial objects as well as celestial objects like the Moon. If you want to do longer exposures of deep sky objects with this method, we suggest using a separate guidescope or off-axis guider and an equatorial mount.

To achieve the best astroimages, it is important to attain the proper back-focus distance for your camera relative to the telescope it is being used with. If the back-focus distance your camera consumes is not exact, the performance at the corners of full frame imaging sensors will suffer—stars will appear elongated and not as pinpoints.
Example: RASA 8 with a ZWO ASI 183 MC PRO camera
- Required back-focus distance for RASA 8 with included M42 camera adapter: 25mm
- Back-focus consumed by ZWO ASI 183 MC PRO camera: 17.5mm
- To achieve equal back-focus distance, a 7.5mm M42 spacer ring is required
Celestron’s M42 Spacer Ring kit includes three different length spacer rings to achieve the proper back-focus distance with our popular Celestron optical tubes and T-thread camera adapters.
How to Use
Depending your method of astrophotography (DSLR or CCD/CMOS), there are two ways to use the M42 Spacer Ring. If you are using a DSLR, place the desired M42 Spacer Ring between your T-Ring and your T-Adapter for your optical tube. If you are using a CCD or CMOS camera, place the desired M42 Spacer Ring between the camera and the T-Adapter for your optical tube.
Below is a quick guide to help you determine which spacer ring to use for our EdgeHD, Schmidt-Cassegrain, and RASA 8 optical tubes:
| Spacer Ring Size: | Works best with: |
| 7.5mm | Provides proper spacing with RASA 8 for many ZWO cameras |
| 12mm | Provides proper spacing with RASA 8 for many Atik cameras |
| 30mm | Converts ZWO camera w/filter slider to 55mm back-focus standard for use with Schmidt-Cassegrain & EdgeHD |
Body
The M42 Spacer Rings are machined aluminum black anodized. The internal surfaces are blackened and glare-threaded to provide the highest contrast. Each spacer ring has a knurled surface, providing a great gripping surface for threading/unthreading. The M42 Spacer Rings are compatible with M42 x 0.75 (T-thread) camera adapters.

This T-Ring fits EOS M-mount mirrorless cameras only. It will not work with other Canon camera bodies like the EOS RF-mount or EOS EF-mount model cameras without adding a Canon adapter to convert those cameras to M-mount.
A T-Ring is one of the first accessories you will need to take pictures through a telescope or spotting scope. If you have a Canon EOS mirrorless camera body, the Celestron EOS M-Mount T-Ring is the one for you.
How to Use
To use this T-Ring, place the M-Mount T-Ring on your Canon mirrorless camera. Just like changing a lens, line up the T-Ring to your camera’s lens mount. Push it in and turn until you hear a click. The T-Ring has a sturdy bayonet flange that locks for a secure fit. Once you attach the T-Ring to your camera, you’re ready to connect your telescope. The telescope side of the T-Ring has threads that accept a variety of camera adapters, including the Celestron T-Adapter. The adapter you choose depends on the type of photography you wish to do.

Ultra-telephoto photography is easily achieved with your Geoma spotting scope when using the Vixen SLR Camera Adapter G. It allows you to shoot through the scope's eyepiece, instead of using the scope without an eyepiece as a prime focus lens. There is a built-in 2" extension ring which can lengthen the effective focal length of your scope/eyepiece combination to capture sharp and crisp images. The adapter can be used with Vixen's GL15, GL20, and GL25 eyepieces, and requires a camera-specific T-mount and ring for proper mounting to your DSLR.

Visual Use
For dual-purpose photo/visual scopes, a "VISA" adapter (Visual / Imaging System Adapter) accepts the tunable top from the standard Tele Vue 2" Paracorr Type-2. The 2" format is fine visually since secondary mirror size limits maximum exit pupil diameter to around 7mm. The widest true field eyepiece choice with an f/3 (f/3.45 when used with Paracorr) is, therefore, Tele Vue's own 21mm Ethos which delivers a 6.1mm exit pupil at f/3.45.
Imaging with DSLR or CCD Cameras
If you have a 35mm format DLSR or CCD camera, the "VISA" adapter accepts Tele Vue Imaging System accessories.

Tele Vue Piggy-Cam
Secure your camera to Piggy-Cam for greatest flexibility in piggy-back photography. Piggy-Cam's 3/8" thick tilting base plate can be locked at virtually any angle allowing you the most pleasing photo composition.
The captive ¼"-20 lock screw rides in a slot making it easy to mount any 35mm camera. Though designed for Tele Vue telescopes, Piggy-cam's U-shaped mounting bracket is easily adaptable to most any scope
Concept: Piggy-Cam provides a solid, adjustable platform for piggy-backing your camera on a variety of telescopes. — Al Nagler
