The Kendrick Standard Dual Channel Controller is the most popular of Kendrick's dew controllers. It is suitable for most situations. Simple dial adjustments allow you to set the controller to the correct level to keep dew away.

Kendrick Standard Dual Channel Controller (SDCC) Specifications:

The power cord has been fused at 7 amps even though the controller is capable of amperages of 5 amps per channel (10 amps total). We do not recommend replacing the power cord fuse with a larger fuse as the power input socket is not rated for higher amperage.

The Standard Dual Channel has many new features but remains really simple to use. As well, it can handle more power and use that power more efficiently! This newest addition to Kendrick's Dew Remover Systems is sure to be a hit!

If you do not need to run more than 2 heater strips and are using smaller heater strips please consider the Kendrick Micro Controller. For ultimate control of dew, we recommend the DigiFire 8 and 12 controllers that feature digital control and also temperature sensing on the DigiFire 12.

Are you worried that when you take pictures in the evening or wet environment, your DSLR lenses or small refractor can’t work perfectly because of the dew on the lenses? And then you also need to wipe the lenses, again and again, to keep the lenses dry and clean.

The Haida Anti-Fog Belt is designed to avoid dew on lenses by warming them up by using an advanced graphene heating material that distributes the heat safely and evenly. There are 3 modes for you to choose from: low heat (35-45°), medium heat (45-55°) and high heat (55-65°). The Anti-Fog Belt can withstand temperatures as low as -40°C.

The belt comes with a USB port and a pouch so you can put it in your bag easily and conveniently. When you have trips or plans of climbing high mountains like the Alps or Himalayas to take pictures, this belt will also develop a large impact.

The thickness of the anti-dew heater strip is 0.2~0.3mm.

The “Y” power cord is designed to connect in-line with the cooler power supply for convenience.

We recommend a DC adapter giving 12V at 0.35 A resulting in a heating power on the strip that is around 4.2 watts. You can use one and same power cord to power both the fan and heater simultaneously, but make sure not to exceed recommended amount of Ampere.

NOTE: for many ASI cameras a heater strip is not necessary since they have one that is built into the cameras themselves.

ASI071MC-P/ASI6200/ASI2600/ASI2400 cameras come with an anti-dew heater that will heat the protective glass to avoid any dew problems.

For ASI183/ASI1600/ASI294/ASI533 cameras, the heat emitting from the TEC will be conducted to the camera case and avoid any dew problems when TEC cooling system is working.

Power

The Smart DewHeater and Controller 2x runs on a 12V DC battery (like our PowerTank Lithium Pro or PowerTank 17) and can handle a maximum power of 120W (10A max current @ 12V DC). The controller also features a 12V DC output port. You can use this extra port to power another device, like your mount. This way, you can power your entire setup from a single source. Resettable electronic fuses prevent damage if input or output current draw becomes too high.

NOTE: If you are using two dew heaters in heavy dew conditions and powering a 12V DC device, the controller may be operating near its power limit. In this case, one PowerTank Lithium Pro or PowerTank 17Ah will not have enough capacity to run your setup all night; you'll need a larger capacity battery or multiple batteries.

Unique Industrial Design

The Smart DewHeater and Controller 2x features a heavy-duty metal housing. Inside, a cooling fan protects the controller’s electronics.

The Bridge – On top of the controller, you will find the bridge, which is home to the device’s status LEDs and environmental sensors. It also helps with cable management. We have positioned the temperature and humidity sensors here, away from the control box and other components that could generate heat. Unlike competitor products, our sensors do not require additional cables to obtain accurate readings.

The LED lights on the bridge indicate the device’s current status. The LEDs provide warnings if the controller is drawing more current than your power source can supply or if the battery charge needs recharging. You can dim the lights if you are under dark skies.

Suggested Controller

Dew is one of the many enemies of amateur astronomers. In a cold or humid environment, droplets and dew can form on the lens of telescopes and cameras, affecting both the quality of observation and photos.

Vespera’s anti-dew system will activate when a certain temperature and humidity threshold is reached. Heat generated continuously around the lens will remove the fog, creating better viewing conditions and sharper pictures.

It is ideal for people living in a humid region (sea, ocean, river, lakes, ponds, etc.) or in a region where temperatures are cold. The sensor is also great in winter when temperatures are close to 0° Celsius.

Anti-dew system

By equipping your station with this sensor, Vespera’s integral demister will activate when a certain temperature and humidity threshold is reached. Heat generated continuously around the lens will remove the dew, creating better viewing conditions and sharper pictures.

Improved focus

The condensation that produces dew or fogging affects the focus of Vespera’s photo sensor:

• Initialization and acquisition times may be longer because a larger number of photos will be rejected by our image processing algorithms, which check the quality of the images and discard them if they are not of sufficient quality.
• The sharpness of the pictures, which in astrophotography is mainly judged by the sharpness of the stars and the absence of any halo, is not as good.

The hygrometer and the associated demisting system will improve both your observation and your photos.

A discreet design

Measuring under 13mm, the hygrometer is equipped with an electronic board which is the smallest board our expert engineers have ever designed. The sensor fits discreetly into Vespera’s optical arm and is compatible with the use of filters. It will automatically turn the anti-fog system on and off, so you never have to worry about it.

Instructions for installation

The box comes with:

• the hygrometer and a screw ready to be fitted,
• a mini screwdriver.

Remove the standard Vespera lens ring and carefully insert the hygrometer into the notch above the lens. Screw the sensor in tightly using the screwdriver provided in the box. The sensor must not move in its housing.

To verify that the sensor is properly positioned, connect Vespera to your mobile device and launch the Singularity app. In the Space Center and then the Instrument screen, the ambient temperature and humidity are displayed.

Directions for use:

• Make sure Vespera is turned off before installing or removing the hygrometer.
• You do not need to remove the sensor on each use. We recommended leaving it in your Vespera to avoid any loss or damage.
• Activating the demisting system results in higher battery consumption. We recommend you charge your station before using it.

Dew also occurs during large temperature changes, for example in winter, when you move from a warm to a cold environment and the air inside your Vespera has remained warm. We therefore recommend that you take your Vespera outside for at least 30 minutes before starting any observations so that it can adjust to the ambient temperature.

Celestron Dew-Shield C14 is designed to fit on the front end of the telescope to reduce the amount of dew that builds up on the corrector plate.

It also serves as a Len Shade by preventing stray light from falling on the corrector plate, which greatly improves contrast.

It is made from a thicker material called Foamex that wont crack under temperature extremes.

The quality is a step above all others as all material is sewn together (not glued) for a long life.

Kendrick Dewminator Controller features 4 individual adjustable heater ports and dual DC Accessory Ports that can power other 12V equipment.

• Low Voltage Cut-Off - A Kendrick Standard that saves your battery from permanent destruction.

Anderson Power Pole Option: All Kendrick Dew Controllers include a power cord with that uses a Cigarette Lighter Plug with an internal 7 Amp fuse. Some astronomers prefer Anderson Power Pole Connectors which are superior to cigarette lighter plugs. We also terminate the power cord with a special "pluggable terminal block" which makes it easy to make your own power cord. For convenience, we offer 2 Anderson Kits that include the Red & Black plastic shells and 2 metal contacts. The "Pre-Welded" model permanently fuses the plastic shells together using a plug orientation that works with Kendrick Power Supply/Distribution products. If you are unsure of the plug orientation you need, purchase the "non-welded" model.

Extra Power Cords are available.. The controller does include a power cord, but some people like a spare cord and they are available for purchase.

The Celestron Dew Shield DX is an essential accessory that protects your optical tube in the field. It prevents excess moisture in the air from forming condensation on the corrector lens. A dew shield also helps block stray light from entering the telescope for better viewing and astroimaging. Use the Dew Shield DX on your 6” and 8” Schmidt Cassegrain, EdgeHD, and RASA (with single dovetail) optical tubes with confidence.

Construction

The Dew Shield DX provides a perfect, custom fit designed specifically for 6” and 8” Celestron optical tubes. The Dew Shield is built from durable PE plastic that is flexible but strong. Extra padding has been added at the tube attachment edge to create a stronger fit on the optical tube. The felt-lined interior absorbs any additional stray light and excessive moisture, creating optimal contrast when viewing and imaging. The large dovetail cutout has been made both wider- to accommodate a 4” wide dovetail rails, as well as deeper, to create a more solid connection with the optical tube.

Attaching the Dew Shield to your optical tube is easy thanks to the Velcro attachment points. Whether your optical tube is 6” or 8”, simply adjust the Velcro for the correct fit.

The Celestron Dew Heater Ring is the ideal dew prevention solution for your Celestron telescope. This must-have accessory will improve your observing or imaging nights year-round. The Dew Heater Ring permanently mounts to your 8" Celestron Schmidt-Cassegrain (manufactured 2006 or later), EdgeHD, and the 36cm RASA optical tube, replacing your retaining ring so you'll never be caught without it. The installation process is quick and easy (follow the manual for instructions).

How it works

The Dew Heater Ring replaces the retaining ring on your Schmidt corrector lens for efficient heating across the lens. The ring is constructed of lightweight, durable aluminum. Its rigid frame supports the cable circuity and the telescope's Schmidt corrector lens. Unlike other heating bands or strips that inefficiently heat the lens cell to warm the glass, the Celestron Dew Heater Ring heats the corrector glass directly, providing the most efficient transfer of heat to prevent dew formation.

Simply plug the ring into an external 12V DC power source for consistent, continuous heat that will prevent dew from forming even under heavy dew conditions. The Dew Heater Ring features two storage clips to keep the power and thermistor jacks secure when not in use while accommodating the telescope's dust cover.

The Dew Heater Ring also comes with a cable management clip that connects to the telescope's front cell. Corral the power and thermistor jack to prevent them from dangling and reduce unwanted pulls on the cable connection to the rings.

Enhance your setup

To achieve the highest level of dew prevention while maximizing power efficiency, we strongly recommend pairing the Dew Heater Ring with a Smart DewHeater Controller (sold separately). The controller uses the ring's built-in thermistor and its internal environmental sensor to provide just the right amount of heat to the corrector to prevent dew based upon the ambient temperature, ambient humidity, and temperature of the Schmidt corrector, which can dramatically reduce the ring’s power draw, greatly increasing battery life. The ring also includes an extension cable for connecting the ring directly to one of the controllers’ heater output ports, or to a third-party controller’s heater output port. (Note: the ring’s integrated thermistor is only compatible with the Celestron Smart DewHeater Controllers).

We also recommend adding a dew shield to your setup. While not mandatory, a shield will cut down on the amount of power the Dew Heater Ring needs to keep the optics clear.

Farpoint Dew Shield - Meade 12 Inch SCT is a virtually indestructible cover customized for Meade 12 Inch SCT telescopes. Simply attach the flexible cover to the front of the optical tube to prevent moisture build-up on the lens. Made with tough, flexible ABS plastic and lined with black felt to cut down the reflection and prevent sliding onto the telescope corrector plate.
