TMB PlanetView Planetary Eyepieces:
The TMB PlanetView Planetary Eyepiece series is designed for high-magnification planetary and lunar observing, delivering sharp, high-contrast views with excellent eye comfort. Choosing the right focal length for your telescope typically provides a significant upgrade in magnification and fine detail compared to the stock eyepieces supplied with most telescopes, making planetary features clearer and easier to observe. Featuring a 5-element optical design and a wide 58° apparent field of view, these eyepieces offer a more immersive experience than traditional narrow-field planetary designs while maintaining the crisp detail needed for serious observing.
Fully multi-coated optics and internal baffling maximise light transmission and suppress stray reflections, improving contrast on subtle planetary features and fine lunar detail. The large eye lens and generous eye relief make these eyepieces comfortable to use, especially during long observing sessions or when wearing glasses.
Built with an all-metal housing and a fold-down rubber eyecup, TMB PlanetView eyepieces are robust, practical, and compatible with all standard 1.25" focusers and filters. They are also Bintel’s number one recommended first upgrade for most telescopes, offering one of the simplest and most noticeable improvements you can make to planetary and lunar performance.
The 6mm TMB PlanetView:
The TMB PlanetView 6mm Planetary Eyepiece is a versatile high-power option suitable for medium and large aperture Dobsonians.

The Celestron Dew Heater Ring is the ideal dew prevention solution for your Celestron telescope. This must-have accessory will improve your observing or imaging nights year-round. The Dew Heater Ring permanently mounts to your 11" Celestron Schmidt-Cassegrain (manufactured 2006 or later), EdgeHD, and RASA optical tube, replacing your retaining ring so you'll never be caught without it. The installation process is quick and easy (follow the manual for instructions).
How it works
The Dew Heater Ring replaces the plastic retaining ring on your Schmidt corrector lens for efficient heating across the lens. The ring is constructed of lightweight, durable aluminum. Its rigid frame supports the cable circuity and the telescope's Schmidt corrector lens. Unlike other heating bands or strips that inefficiently heat the lens cell to warm the glass, the Celestron Dew Heater Ring heats the corrector glass directly, providing the most efficient transfer of heat to prevent dew formation.
Simply plug the ring into an external 12V DC power source for consistent, continuous heat that will prevent dew from forming even under heavy dew conditions. The Dew Heater Ring features two storage clips to keep the power and thermistor jacks secure when not in use while accommodating the telescope's dust cover.
The Dew Heater Ring also comes with a cable management clip that connects to the telescope's front cell. Corral the power and thermistor jack to prevent them from dangling and reduce unwanted pulls on the cable connection to the rings.
The Dew Heater Ring comes complete with:
- Dew Heater Ring
- Cable management clip
- Power jack extension cable
- Paper installation shield
Enhance your setup
To achieve the highest level of dew prevention while maximizing power efficiency, we strongly recommend pairing the Dew Heater Ring with a Smart DewHeater Controller (sold separately). The controller uses the ring's built-in thermistor and its internal environmental sensor to provide just the right amount of heat to the corrector to prevent dew based upon the ambient temperature, ambient humidity, and temperature of the Schmidt corrector, which can dramatically reduce the ring’s power draw, greatly increasing battery life. The ring also includes an extension cable for connecting the ring directly to one of the controllers’ heater output ports, or to a third-party controller’s heater output port. (Note: the ring’s integrated thermistor is only compatible with the Celestron Smart DewHeater Controllers).
We also recommend adding a dew shield to your setup. While not mandatory, a shield will cut down on the amount of power the Dew Heater Ring needs to keep the optics clear.
| Max Power: | 30 watts |

$39.00
Take the guesswork out of using third-party heating bands or straps and increase your power efficiency with the Celestron Thermistor for Smart DewHeater Controllers. This accessory allows the Smart DewHeater Controller (sold separately) to deliver just the right amount warmth for to your telescope’s corrector to prevent dew without wasting battery. 6’ cable length accommodates a wide variety of configurations.
How it works
Connect the heating band to your telescope and place the Thermistor's sealed probe tip under the heating band. Plug each cable into its corresponding port of the Smart DewHeater Controller.
NOTE: This thermistor is not required if you are using a Celestron Dew Heater Ring because the ring already contains a built-in thermistor.
NOTE: Heating Band Not included.
Enhance your setup
We also recommend adding a dew shield to your setup. While not mandatory, a shield will cut down on the amount of power your dew heater needs to keep the optics clear.

To achieve the best astroimages, it is important to attain the proper back-focus distance for your camera relative to the telescope it is being used with. If the back-focus distance your camera consumes is not exact, the performance at the corners of full frame imaging sensors will suffer—stars will appear elongated and not as pinpoints.
Example: RASA 8 with a ZWO ASI 183 MC PRO camera
- Required back-focus distance for RASA 8 with included M42 camera adapter: 25mm
- Back-focus consumed by ZWO ASI 183 MC PRO camera: 17.5mm
- To achieve equal back-focus distance, a 7.5mm M42 spacer ring is required
Celestron’s M42 Spacer Ring kit includes three different length spacer rings to achieve the proper back-focus distance with our popular Celestron optical tubes and T-thread camera adapters.
How to Use
Depending your method of astrophotography (DSLR or CCD/CMOS), there are two ways to use the M42 Spacer Ring. If you are using a DSLR, place the desired M42 Spacer Ring between your T-Ring and your T-Adapter for your optical tube. If you are using a CCD or CMOS camera, place the desired M42 Spacer Ring between the camera and the T-Adapter for your optical tube.
Below is a quick guide to help you determine which spacer ring to use for our EdgeHD, Schmidt-Cassegrain, and RASA 8 optical tubes:
| Spacer Ring Size: | Works best with: |
| 7.5mm | Provides proper spacing with RASA 8 for many ZWO cameras |
| 12mm | Provides proper spacing with RASA 8 for many Atik cameras |
| 30mm | Converts ZWO camera w/filter slider to 55mm back-focus standard for use with Schmidt-Cassegrain & EdgeHD |
Body
The M42 Spacer Rings are machined aluminum black anodized. The internal surfaces are blackened and glare-threaded to provide the highest contrast. Each spacer ring has a knurled surface, providing a great gripping surface for threading/unthreading. The M42 Spacer Rings are compatible with M42 x 0.75 (T-thread) camera adapters.

Celestron has reinvented the Dobsonian telescope with StarSense Explorer—the first Dobsonian that uses your smartphone to analyze the night sky and calculate its position in real-time. This large-aperture Celestron StarSense Explorer is ideal for serious beginners, thanks to the app's user-friendly interface and detailed tutorials. It's like having your own personal tour guide of the night sky. The large aperture will ensure that you won’t outgrow the telescope as you continue on in your astronomical adventures.
Dock, Launch, Explore
Leave complicated star charts, imprecise planetarium apps, and computerized mounts behind. With StarSense Explorer, locating objects has never been easier, faster, or more accurate. Within minutes of setting up the telescope, you'll be navigating the sky with confidence. Simply place your phone in the unique StarSense dock and launch the StarSense Explorer app.
After aligning your phone to the telescope's optics (a quick and easy procedure), StarSense Explorer generates a list of celestial objects currently visible. Make your selection and arrows appear on-screen, guiding you as you move the telescope. When the object is ready to view in the eyepiece, the bullseye turns green. As you observe, listen to hundreds of audio descriptions and view detailed information about thousands of objects within the app’s robust database.
High-Quality Altazimuth Base
An ultra-stable Dobsonian base provides a sturdy foundation for StarSense Explorer. It features large diameter altitude bearings with variable tensioning, Teflon azimuth bearings, and braces on the side panels for extra stability (unlike most 10” Dobsonian bases). The altitude bearings provide a smooth up-and-down motion while the integrated altitude "brake" system allows you to adjust the tension along the altitude axis for smoothest motion even with slight imbalances. The panning knob on the telescope tube provides an ergonomic grip so you can precisely point the telescope without introducing heat from your hands into the optical system. As celestial objects appear to drift across the night sky, you'll be able to easily follow them with minor adjustments to the telescope’s position.
Dazzling Views with High-Quality Optics
With a large 10" Newtonian reflector optical tube, this telescope has enough light-gathering ability to bring out impressive detail in celestial objects while remaining remarkably portable. You can expect sharp, bright views of Jupiter's four Galilean moons, its cloud bands and Great Red Spot, the rings of Saturn, the gaseous glow of the Orion Nebula, dust lanes in the Lagoon Nebula, and our neighbour galaxy, Andromeda. Compared to the StarSense Explorer DX 130 AZ, the 10" Dobsonian has 380+% more light gathering area, providing better views of faint objects.
All mirror surfaces are coated with our XLT optical coatings to visibly increase contrast and light throughput for brighter views. With XLT, you'll be able to discern subtle details while viewing the Moon and planets, as well as faint galaxies and nebulae. The mirrors are made of low-expansion optical glass, which helps ensure the best images under changing environmental conditions.
This telescope also comes with a high-quality 2” Crayford focuser. The Crayford design provides precise and smooth movements without focus shifting. It also includes a 2” to 1.25” adapter and a 2” extension tube, so you can use virtually any 1.25” or 2” telescope eyepiece with your StarSense Explorer Dobsonian. The focuser also features a thumbscrew so you can lock in the sharpest focus.
Perfect for the City or Dark Sky Sites
Even if you live in a light-polluted city location, the Celestron StarSense Explorer 10” Dobsonian is advanced enough to easily pick out Jupiter, Saturn, open star clusters like the Pleiades, double stars like Alberio, the Orion Nebula, Andromeda Galaxy, and more of the best and brightest celestial objects.
But if you can take the telescope to an even slightly darker location, more objects will become visible. With this 10" Dobsonian and relatively dark skies, hundreds of fascinating objects are well within your reach.
Transporting your StarSense Explorer Dobsonian is easy thanks to the ergonomic carry handles located at the balance point of the tube and base. Dust covers are also included for the front of the tube and the focuser.
Smartphone Compatibility
Celestron StarSense Explorer works with most modern smartphones, including iPhone 6 and up, and most devices running Android 7.1.2 or later manufactured since 2016. For a complete compatibility list, click here.
Patented StarSense Sky Recognition Technology
StarSense Explorer uses patented technology and your smartphone to determine exactly where the telescope is pointed in the night sky. A Lost in Space Algorithm (LISA), like the ones satellites use in orbit to correctly orient themselves, helps the app match star patterns it detects overhead to its internal database.
While other astronomy apps may claim that they can help you find objects, they rely exclusively on the phone's gyros and accelerometers, which aren't as accurate as LISA technology. No other app can accurately tell you when your target is visible in the eyepiece.
Enhance Your Setup
Keep your phone charged all night while exploring with your StarSense Explorer by adding the PowerTank Glow 5000 to your must-have accessories (sold separately). This 2-in-1 accessory was made with the StarSense Explorer Dobs in mind, it has a red flashlight PLUS a USB power bank for charging mobile devices in the field. Connect the PowerTank Glow 5000 to the two posts at the front of the StarSense Explorer dock with the included bands so it is held in a convenient location for charging your smartphone while in use.
To achieve the sharpest views faster, we recommend pairing the StarSense Explorer 10” Dobsonian with the USB Cooling Fan for Dobsonian Telescopes (sold separately). The fan cools the primary mirror to the ambient outdoor temperature faster, leaving you more time to observe. It mounts directly onto the rear cell of the Dobsonian and works with any USB power source.

There is a good chance the TeleVue Delos will be seen as the ultimate combination of performance, viewing comfort and price. If you've been keeping a spot in your case for an affordable, premium eyepiece, you should consider a Delos 17.3mm - it won't disappoint! Lessons learned from the tremendously successful Ethos series were applied to develop this long eye-relief, 72° apparent field of view eyepiece line.
The Delos 17.3mm has a standard 1.25" barrel making it suitable for almost any telescope. An excellent choice for low power viewing in bino-viewers!

Background
Tele Vue introduced the Delos In 2011. The series includes mid-to-short focal lengths with all providing 20mm eye-relief and 72° apparent field of view. Tele Vue designer Paul Dellechiaie rethought every optical, mechanical, and ergonomic aspect to achieve reference-standard performance for any visual application.
The Delos was conceived as a narrower field Ethos. Eye-relief was increased while still controlling pupil aberrations by reducing the field to 72°. This was achieved without making the eyepiece too large. With Ethos performance standards as benchmarks, the Delos design achieves full field sharpness, virtually perfect f θ (theta) distortion mapping, and colour neutrality. Image fidelity is maximized utilizing glass matched multicoatings and anti-reflection surfaces throughout the eyepiece.
Contrast is further enhanced with a new, continuously adjustable height eyeguard system that can be locked in any position. Since the Delos eye-lens measures a quite large 35mm in diameter, preventing stray light from reflecting off the first surface and extraneous light from entering your eye pays off in a nice increase in perceived contrast. The eyeguard's sliding action allows for positioning the soft rubber eyeguard at the ideal height to suit the observer's preference. Indicator marks on the eyepiece body are handy reference guides for setting your perfect position. The eye-guard can also rotate for Dioptrx users.

Delos Eyepieces Reviews
Quotes from review of 10mm, 4.5mm, & 14mm Delos on Alpha Lyrae website.
- The stunningly flat field and lack of optical aberrations really allow clusters to shine and galaxies and nebulae are resplendent.
- It is rare I use any other eyepiece for deep sky observing anymore.
- Quite simply, the planetary performance matches the very best dedicated planetary eyepieces I have ever used such as the TMB Super Monocentric.
- There is also an indescribable quality which makes them a very easy and relaxing eyepiece to use.
— Hodgson, Matthew. "Televue Delos Eyepiece Review". Alpha Lyrae (05 May 2014). Full Review.
Excerpt from Delos 17.3mm review in Astronomy Now magazine.
Examining the stars of the Pleiades served up by the 17.3mm Delos, I was immediately struck by the pinpoint star images right to the edge of the field-of-view. Contrast was superb. Nor could I detect any signs of off-axis distortions.

Sky & Telescope Hot New Product for 2012 Award
More Than Expected (Delos 6- and 10-mm)
And while the 20 mm of eye relief make them attractive for those who observe wearing eyeglasses, it was the "distinctly pleasurable" observing experience that most impressed our reviewer. When it comes to eyepiece design, The Delos seems to have hit all the sweet spots.
— Editors. "Hot New Products for 2012". Sky & Telescope (January 2012). p.39.
Excerpt from ATT review of Delos 6- & 10-mm eyepieces:
Wide-Field Eyepieces That Pack a Planetary Punch
With the Delos, the eyepiece simply "disappears" and allows the observer to observe. I could find nothing whatsoever to complain about; the "twist and tighten" eye relief adjustment feature is the best I've ever seen in any eyepiece, and the optics are essentially perfect. Tele Vue somehow always finds a way to continuously improve upon their eyepieces and the Delos is certainly no exception. Bottomline: If you're in the market for a planetary eyepiece, you owe it to yourself to consider the Tele Vue Delos.
— Erik Wilcox. "Tele Vue Delos". Astronomy Technology Today (Nov-Dec 2011). Full Review.
Review of the 6mm & 10mm Delos Eyepieces from Astronomy Magazine, December 2011
- Contrast was excellent - right up there with some of the best planetary eyepieces I've ever used.
- I searched but saw no internal reflections or scattering in either eyepiece.
- The flat field the Delos eyepieces produce really made star fields pop. Open clusters epitomized the old standard "diamonds on velvet". Stars on and off axis showed no sign of astigmatism.
- Tele Vue has constructed an eyepiece that stands with the best deep-sky and planetary eyepieces on the market.
— Trusock, Tom. "Astronomy tests Tele Vue's new eyepiece line". Astronomy Magazine (December 2011). Full Review.
Excerpts from Sky & Telescope, June 2011, review of Delos eyepieces:
- WHAT WE LIKE:
- Essentially perfect optics
"Immersive" observation experience - WHAT WE DON'T LIKE:
- Trying to nail down why the observing experience is so pleasurable.
I spent several nights viewing the Moon, Saturn, stars and nebulae with a variety of telescopes … .
The Delos eyepieces are "easy to look through … . They have flat fields, delivering absolute pinpoint stars from edge to edge with no hint of color aberration. The view, especially during the daytime, is very pure with no noticeable color tint. And there wasn't a hint of ghosts or reflections, even with the brightest stars".
"What caught me a bit off guard, however, was something that's best described as the observing experience. It was distinctly pleasurable."
"I have the sensation of looking out of a circular window rather than into an eyepiece."
— di Cicco, Dennis. "Tele Vue's New Delos Eyepieces". Sky & Telescope (June 2011). p. 58, 59.

The 55mm focal length has the largest true field possible for 2" eyepiece holders -3 times the true field area of any 1¼" eyepiece. The focal plane is placed at the end of the barrel to minimize vignetting. Performance with Schmidt-Cassegrains is remarkable since it avoids the image degradation and severe vignetting which occurs when using telecompressors. Long eye-relief and unique adjustable eyeguard for eyeglass wearers.

Nagler Type 6
The 7-element, Nagler Type 6 design is based on the original patented Nagler design. This new 7-element design update for the short focal length Nagler deserves its own designation. Using different exotic materials, coating processes and design ingenuity, Al has massaged more eye-relief, contrast, and true field of view into the shorter focal length Naglers, while maintaining the absolute sharpness of the originals. Eye-relief is 12mm on each model, and all are sized about the same as the original 7mm! Weight about 0.4 to 0.5 lbs.
Concept: The goal we set designing these new eyepieces was to increase contrast, maintain or increase eye-relief, reduce size and weight, and maintain the sharpness of the originals. They are all parfocal and great with the Bino Vue.
Why Are There 4 Types of Naglers?
To achieve various features requires different design tradeoffs and thus the different types of Nagler eyepieces. The largest possible true fields of view for an 82°' apparent field of view in both 2" and 1¼" formats are achieved with the Nagler Type 5 series, with focal lengths of 31 and 16 mm
Compact size in medium to short focal lengths is achieved with the Nagler Type 6, available in focal lengths of 13, 11, 9, 7, 5, and 3.5 mm.
To achieve eyeglass friendly eye relief without excessively large and heavy designs requires the other two Nagler types. The 22mm Type 4 and 19, 14, 9, 5.5 mm Type 7 with their long eye relief feature adjustable height eyeguards and are best for eyeglass wearers or Dioptrx™ users.

Introduced at the 2007 Northeast Astronomy Forum, Tele Vue once again broadened the amateur astronomer's perspective on the universe with: 100° of pure Tele Vue quality. The field area of this new eyepiece is more than 50% larger than an 82° field. The Tele Vue Ethos is essentially multiple eyepieces, delivering the true field size of a longer focal length, narrower apparent field eyepiece with the benefits of higher power and darker sky background.
We invited NEAF attendees to take a look and see the universe the way we think it was meant to be experienced, with a field of view incredibly wide and sharp! We were very pleased indeed by the response and validation of our design goals.

An excellent premium quality low power wide field eyepiece. It is ideal for observing large emission and reflection nebulae, Supernova Remnants and large open star clusters.
It is well-suited for any telescope with a focal ratio of f/5 or longer offering 7mm exit pupil at f/5. Works wonderfully in SCT's for large field of view.
It has a huge 28mm of eye relief and can be used by eyeglass wearers with no vignetting of the field. This is a lot of eyepiece so its heavy weight may cause some minor concern in Dobsonians.

The Nagler eyepiece was revolutionary as the first eyepiece to deliver breath taking wide fields of view while still providing sharp images from edge to edge.
The eyepiece is an extremely important, but often over looked element in the image your telescope delivers.
In contrast to the objective of your telescope which rarely covers an image angle of more than 2°, the eyepiece has to remain sharp over an angle of more than 50°...or a staggering 82° in the case of the Nagler. For this reason extreme care must be taken to correct for aberrations - especially away from the optical axis.
Astigmatism and field curvature are 2 factors that most influence the off axis sharpness especially in "fast" objectives (below f/6). Eyepiece designers had tried for many years to eliminate these aberrations but it was not until the 1980s that a breakthrough occurred - the Nagler eyepiece.
Since then Al Nagler has refined this series of eyepieces taking advantage of different exotic glasses and improved coatings to deliver quite simply the best performance you can get out of an eyepiece. While other manufacturers may boast impressive field sizes, Televue's philosophy of "showing no field unless it is fine" stresses full field image quality as the ingredient for impressive views.

Compare a penny to a half dollar to see the relative size between a 50° and 82° apparent field - almost 3 times the area difference! And while others boast of impressive apparent field sizes, Tele Vue's philosophy of "showing no field unless it's fine" stresses full field image quality as the ingredient for impressive views. Blackened lens edges, anti-reflection threads and rubber eyeguards deliver maximum contrast. Adapter skirts for 2" focusers on larger 1¼" models and rubber grip rings are additional Tele Vue "firsts". Even 2"/1¼" barrel models have an additional feature allowing the 2" extension tube (EBX-2120) to be screwed on, which permits use of 2" filters as well as 1¼". 100% full field visual inspection on our own flat-field test instruments guarantees the performance of every Tele Vue eyepiece.
Review
The TeleVue 22mm Nagler Type 4 is another of the newer improved Naglers.
The 19mm of eye relief as well as TeleVue's "Instadjust" click-stop adjustable-height eyeguard with a soft fold-down rubber eyecup allows for eyeglass wearers to experience a full 82° apparent field of view when fully retracted. The click stop increments of "Instadjust" allows non eyeglass wearer to find the exact height for full field of view images. A small plastic insert that fits in the eyeguard allows non eyeglass wearers to find the correct position of the exit pupil.
In big, fast Dobs this is an amazing medium-low power eyepiece great for open clusters, galaxy clusters and emission nebulae. Eta Carinae is totally awesome in this eyepiece.
In SCT's it offers 2.2mm exit pupil making images very bright and this is ideal for open and globular clusters. Have a look at the Tarantula Nebulae to be convinced how good this eyepiece is.

HD-OPTICS Swarovski's HD optics feature fluoride-containing lenses, which virtually eliminate colour aberrations. The scatter is considerably less with fluoride than with even the best types of optical glass. This enables maximum colour fidelity and leads to a significant improvement in resolution and contrast SWAROTOP AND SWARODUR

Light pollution in the night sky can significantly degrade contrast in astronomical images. This is especially true when using very fast telescopes like the 8” RASA because the sky background saturates very quickly. The “noise” of the light pollution overwhelms the “signal” from the celestial object you are imaging, making it difficult to get the most detailed image.
The RASA 8 Light Pollution Filter remedies this by blocking light pollution while transmitting light from deep-sky objects. The result is bright, detailed objects that pop off the black sky background with superior contrast.
Fortunately, many sources of light pollution have relatively discreet emission spectra; they emit primarily at specific wavelengths of light. By strategically blocking these wavelengths, the filter greatly reduces the effects of light pollution without degrading overall image quality.
How it Works
The Light Pollution Imaging (LPI) Filter for the 8” RASA blocks light from some of the most common sources of light pollution between 400-700nm (i.e., the visible spectrum), including high- and low-pressure sodium-vapour streetlights, mercury-vapour streetlights, and natural airglow caused by oxygen in the atmosphere.
Unlike some light pollution filters, the LPI filter blocks only specific areas of the spectrum instead of wide regions. This helps to maintain image brightness and colour balance. In addition, specific wavelengths associated with emission nebulae, such as H-α(656nm), H-β (486nm), OIII (496nm and 501nm), and SII (672nm), are highly transmitted, ensuring minimal loss of image brightness for those objects.
The filter fits directly into the internal filter mount in the RASA 8’s front lens cell, where the optical window normally mounts. By removing the clear window and replacing it with the filter, optical performance for the entire system is maintained.
Each filter comes with a plastic storage case to safely store the filter or the placeholder glass that came with your RASA when not in use. You will also receive a spectral transmission graph unique to your specific unit, verifying its performance.
