ZWO 30F5 Mini Guide Scope

Guide with a cleaner star profile. Set up for telescopes up to 750 mm.

The 30 mm f/5 APO optic gives your guiding camera a 150 mm focal length, while the non-rotating helical focuser lets you set focus and lock it in place.

ED-glass APO optics

ZWO designed the optical system to reduce the impact of chromatic aberration around stars, giving guiding software a cleaner star profile to work with.

20 mm of controlled focus

The non-rotating helical mechanism moves through 20 mm, then the locking screw holds the selected position.

Integrated lens hood

The lens assembly includes a lens-fixing tube and integrated hood as part of the guide scope body.

Mount, connect, focus.

Step 01

Secure the dovetail

Fit the supplied plate into a compatible telescope guide-dovetail groove, then tighten the groove locking screws.

Step 02

Connect the camera

Use the 1.25-inch interface. For a guide camera, ZWO recommends attaching an extension tube.

Step 03

Set and lock focus

Release the focus lock, rotate the red helical knob until the star is sharp, then secure the lock again.

Confirm the fit before you guide.

Main telescope
ZWO recommends up to 750 mm focal length. This is the manufacturer's stated precise-guiding range.
Camera or eyepiece
1.25-inch interface. Confirm the equipment you plan to attach uses this connection.
Camera choice
A guide camera is typically the better fit for autoguiding. A planetary camera can also be connected.
Mounting
A compatible guide-dovetail groove is required. The supplied guide-scope dovetail plate is secured by the groove locking screws.

Good to know.

The camera is separate.

Neither a guide camera nor a planetary camera is included with the guide scope.

Plan for the extension tube.

For a guide-camera setup, ZWO recommends attaching an extension tube for optimal use.

A guide camera is the usual match.

That is typically the better fit for autoguiding with the 30F5, although a planetary camera can also be connected.

It has a documented second use.

ZWO also describes the 30F5 as a small-aperture primary telescope for astrophotography or visual observation.
