The Bintel Superview Camera Projection eyepieces are one of the simplest ways to couple your DSLR to a telescope. The top section of the eyepiece unscrews allowing an M57 to M42 adapter to be fitted. The M42 T-thread can then allow the appropriate T-Ring to be attached and thus adapts to your DSLR camera.
M57 to M42 adapter and T-Rings sold separately.

Annals of the Deep Sky Vol 5 : A Survey of Galactic and Extragalactic Objects by Jeff Kanipe and Dennis Webb,
Volume 5 explores three very rich, and very different, constellations. Centaurus features a detailed overview of the Alpha Centauri system, descriptions of the Scorpius-Centaurus Association (the nearest OB affiliation to the Sun), and the stunning Omega Centauri globular cluster (NGC 5l39). Some time is also spent probing the many levels of the mysterious Centaurus A galaxy (NGC 5128), with its bizarre mixture of spiral and elliptical morphologies.
Cepheus may look dim to the unaided eye, but this constellation hosts some truly beautiful and beguiling objects. These include the star-forming region IC 1396 with its centerpiece, the Elephant Trunk Nebula (see cover image). We take a stroll down the Milky Way to visit several fine star clusters, some still associated with nebulosity, and other star-forming hotbeds.
Finally, Cetus leads us into a largely extragalactic realm where we find the nearby dwarf irregular IC l6l3, the edge-on spiral NGC 1055, and one of the brightest and nearest Seyfert 2 galaxies, M77. But the stars Mira and Tau Ceti are also on the itinerary, both of which have their stories to tell: one of a complex circumstellar environment, the other of possible extraterrestrial life.
We cannot visit these celestial marvels in our own hyperdrive spacecraft (yet), but Annals of the Deep Sky is the next best thing. Turn to page 1 and let it fly you across the universe.

Tele Vue's Delos 6mm is a short focal length eyepiece that will deliver high power magnification. Importantly though it still achieves a generous 20mm eye-relief and wide 72° apparent field of view. Amazing in well corrected refractors with short to medium focal lengths. High powered views without the need for a Barlows or Powermate! The Delos 6mm provides 333x magnification in an 8" f/10 Schmidt Cassegrain making it an amazing eyepiece for high powered views (without going too far)!
There is a good chance the TeleVue Delos will be seen as the ultimate combination of performance, viewing comfort and price. If you've been keeping a spot in your case for an affordable, premium eyepiece, you should consider a Delos - you won't be disappointed! Lessons learned from the tremendously successful Ethos series were applied to develop this long eye-relief, 72° apparent field of view eyepiece line.
The Delos 6mm has a 1.25" barrel making it suitable for almost any telescope or even bino-viewers!
Tele Vue Delos 6mm - Specifications
- Model # EDL-06.0
- Focal Length 6mm
- Barrel Size 1.25"
- Apparent Field of View 72°
- Eye Relief 20mm
- Weight 453g
- Field Stop 7.6mm
Background:
In 2011 Tele Vue introduced the Delos, mid-to-short focal length line of 20mm eye-relief, 72° apparent field of view eyepieces. Every optical, mechanical, and ergonomic aspect was rethought to achieve reference-standard performance for any visual application.
The Delos was conceived as a narrower field Ethos. Reducing the field to 72° allowed freedom to increase eye-relief, while controlling pupil aberrations, all without making the eyepiece too large. With Ethos performance standards as benchmarks, the Delos design achieves full field sharpness, virtually perfect f θ (theta) distortion mapping, and color neutrality. Image fidelity is maximized utilizing glass matched multicoatings and anti-reflection surfaces throughout the eyepiece.
Contrast is further enhanced with a new, continuously adjustable height eyeguard system that can be locked in any position. Since the Delos eye-lens measures a quite large 35mm in diameter, preventing stray light from reflecting off the first surface and extraneous light from entering your eye pays off in a nice increase in perceived contrast. The eyeguard's sliding action allows for positioning the soft rubber eyeguard at the ideal height to suit the observer's preference. Indicator marks on the eyepiece body are handy reference guides for setting your perfect position. The eye-guard can also rotate for Dioptrx users.
Reviews
Sky & Telescope Hot New Product for 2012 Award
More Than Expected (Delos 6 and 10mm)
And while the 20 mm of eye relief make them attractive for those was observe wearing eyeglasses, it was the "distinctly pleasurable" observing experience that most impressed our reviewer. When it comes to eyepiece design, The Delos seems to have hit all the sweet spots.
— Editors. "Hot New Products for 2012". Sky & Telescope (January 2012). p.39.
Excerpt from ATT review of Delos 6- & 10-mm eyepieces:
Wide-Field Eyepieces That Pack a Planetary Punch
With the Delos, the eyepiece simply "disappears" and allows the observer to observe. I could find nothing whatsoever to complain about; the "twist and tighten" eye relief adjustment feature is the best I've ever seen in any eyepiece, and the optics are essentially perfect. Tele Vue somehow always finds a way to continuously improve upon their eyepieces and the Delos is certainly no exception. Bottomline: If you're in the market for a planetary eyepiece, you owe it to yourself to consider the Tele Vue Delos.
— Erik Wilcox. "Tele Vue Delos". Astronomy Technology Today (Nov-Dec 2011). Full Review.
Review of the 6mm & 10mm Delos from Astronomy Magazine, December 2011
- Contrast was excellent - right up there with some of the best planetary eypeices I've ever used.
- I searched but saw no internal reflections or scattering in either eyepiece.
- The flat field the Delos eyepieces produce really made star fields pop. Open clusters epitomized the old standard "diamonds on velvet". Stars on and off axis showed no sign of astigmatism.
- Tele Vue has constructed an eyepiece that stands with the best deep-sky and planetary eyepieces on the market.
- — Trusock, Tom. "Astronomy tests Tele Vue's new eyepiece line". Astronomy Magazine (December 2011). Full Review.
Excerpts from Sky & Telescope, June 2011, review of Delos eyepieces:
WHAT WE LIKE:
Essentially perfect optics
"Immersive" observation experience
WHAT WE DON'T LIKE:
I spent several nights viewing the Moon, Saturn, stars and nebulae with a variety of telescopes … .
The Delos eyepieces are "easy to look through … . They have flat fields, delivering absolute pinpoint stars from edge to edge with no hint of color aberration. The view, especially during the daytime, is very pure with no noticeable color tint. And there wasn't a hint of ghosts or reflections, even with the brightest stars".
"What caught me a bit off guard, however, was something that's best described as the observing experience. It was distinctly pleasurable."
"I have the sensation of looking out of a circular window rather than into an eyepiece."
— di Cicco, Dennis. "Tele Vue's New Delos Eyepieces". Sky & Telescope (June 2011). p. 58, 59.

The Celestron Dew Heater Ring is the ideal dew prevention solution for your Celestron telescope. This must-have accessory will improve your observing or imaging nights year-round. The Dew Heater Ring permanently mounts to your 6" Celestron Schmidt-Cassegrain optical tube, replacing your retaining ring, so you'll never be caught without it. The installation process is quick and easy (follow the manual for instructions).
How it works
The Dew Heater Ring replaces the plastic retaining ring on your Schmidt corrector lens for efficient heating across the lens. The ring is constructed of lightweight, durable aluminum. Its rigid frame supports the cable circuity and the telescope's Schmidt corrector lens. Unlike other heating bands or strips that inefficiently heat the lens cell to warm the glass, the Celestron Dew Heater Ring heats the corrector glass directly, providing the most efficient transfer of heat to prevent dew formation.
Simply plug the ring into an external 12V DC power source for consistent, continuous heat that will prevent dew from forming even under heavy dew conditions. The Dew Heater Ring features two storage clips to keep the power and thermistor jacks secure when not in use while accommodating the telescope's dust cover.
The Dew Heater Ring also comes with a cable management clip that connects to the telescope's front cell. Corral the power and thermistor jack to prevent them from dangling and reduce unwanted pulls on the cable connection to the rings.
The Dew Heater Ring comes complete with:
- Dew Heater Ring
- Cable management clip
- Power jack extension cable
- Paper installation shield
Enhance your setup
To achieve the highest level of dew prevention while maximizing power efficiency, we strongly recommend pairing the Dew Heater Ring with a Smart DewHeater Controller (sold separately). The controller uses the ring's built-in thermistor and its internal environmental sensor to provide just the right amount of heat to the corrector to prevent dew based upon the ambient temperature, ambient humidity, and temperature of the Schmidt corrector, which can dramatically reduce the ring’s power draw, greatly increasing battery life. The ring also includes an extension cable for connecting the ring directly to one of the controllers’ heater output ports, or to a third-party controller’s heater output port. (Note: the ring’s integrated thermistor is only compatible with the Celestron Smart DewHeater Controllers).
We also recommend adding a dew shield to your setup. While not mandatory, a shield will cut down on the amount of power the Dew Heater Ring needs to keep the optics clear.

Enjoy the most dazzling views of nebulae with your Celestron Origin when you add this H-alpha H-beta OIII (Hα-Hβ-OIII) imaging filter. This specialized filter allows high throughput of light wavelengths in emission nebulae while blocking other wavelengths that could diminish image quality and detail. The result is bright, colorful nebulae images that “pop” with detail against the black sky background.
How does the Nebula Filter for Origin work? Emission nebulae primarily emit at discrete wavelengths of light—Hα at 656nm, Hβ at 486nm, and OIII at 496/501nm. By strategically transmitting only these wavelengths of light and blocking the rest of the spectrum, the filter dramatically reduces the effect of light pollution. The “bad” light is blocked while the “good” light associated with emission nebulae passes through to Origin’s sensor.
You’ll immediately notice much higher contrast in your images, especially from your light-polluted backyard! And since the transmission at the critical wavelengths is so high, the nebula will not be dimmed—only the background will be blacker. You’ll also notice some contrast improvement in images of nebulae from darker skies, as the filter serves well in blocking natural skyglow.
Nebula Hunting
The Nebula Filter is perfect for imaging emission nebulae like the North America Nebula (NGC 7000), Lagoon Nebula (M8), Orion Nebula (M42), the Carina Nebula (NGC 3372), and dozens more. The imaging filter offers maximum light transmission in the key Hα-Hβ-OIII wavelengths, producing high contrast for emission nebulae like these.
The transmission spectrum for the Nebula Filter is 85% or greater at key wavelengths (486nm, 496nm/501nm, 656nm) and less than 0.5% transmission elsewhere. As a narrowband filter, it blocks much of the visible spectrum and only lets these specific wavelengths through. Because of this, you should not use this filter while observing or imaging broadband emission objects, such as galaxies and star clusters. For those objects, you’ll achieve the best results by removing the nebula filter and reinstalling Origin’s clear optical window.
Other similar imaging filters on the market have much narrower bandpasses at the critical Hα-Hβ-OIII wavelengths. Unfortunately, these filters block much of the incoming Hα-Hβ-OIII light for an f/2.2 optical system like Origin’s 6” RASA. This is because a RASA brings light into the filter at a steeper angle, which causes a spectral shift. If you use filters not explicitly designed for use at f/2.2, some of the light from the nebula will be blocked, resulting in a dimmer image. The Nebula Filter for Origin was custom-engineered to work at f/2.2, so none of the “good” light from the nebula is inadvertently blocked by the filter.
Body and Storage
The filter features a machined aluminum black anodized cell with a knurled rim for easy grip during installation. We’ve added anti-reflection coatings to help suppress reflections on the glass. The filter fits directly into the filter drawer in the Celestron Origin’s front lens cell, where the optical window sits. Simply remove the clear window and replace it with the filter. Origin maintains its optical performance across the entire system with the filter installed. No other adapter is needed.
Each filter comes with a foam-lined plastic storage case to safely store the filter or the optical window glass that came with your Celestron Origin when not in use.
Celestron tests every Nebula Filter for Origin individually to verify its performance. Along with your filter, you will receive a spectral transmission graph (like the one pictured above) showing the results of your filter’s test and verifying it performs as expected throughout the spectrum.
Please note this is for the Celestron Origin Intelligent Home Observatory

In Volume 11, we delve into the celestial smorgasbord found in the constellations Gemini, Grus, Hercules, Horologium, and Hydra. Featured objects include the open cluster M35 in Gemini, as well as the strange case of NGC 2371-72, one of the most unusual examples of a planetary nebula. The southern constellation Grus contains IC 5148, a large planetary nebula with an unusual inner-tube-like morphology, as well as the grand design, multi-armed spiral galaxy NGC 7424, which contains a number of enigmatic radio and X-ray sources. Hercules hosts the great globular clusters M13 and M92, of course, and imagers will want to target Abell 2151, the rich Hercules Cluster that links up with the Great Wall of galaxies. Horologium contains the remarkable star Gliese 1061, a solar neighbour harbouring a planetary system. And don’t forget to check out the globular cluster NGC 1261 and the stunning Seyfert galaxy NGC 1433. Finally, Hydra’s showcase object is the Southern Pinwheel Galaxy, M83; other attractions include the face-on multiarm spiral galaxy NGC 2835 and the spectacular pair NGC 3314A and B — two entwined galaxies with different orientations.

Take the guesswork out of using third-party heating bands or straps and increase your power efficiency with the Celestron Thermistor for Smart DewHeater Controllers. This accessory allows the Smart DewHeater Controller (sold separately) to deliver just the right amount warmth for to your telescope’s corrector to prevent dew without wasting battery. 6’ cable length accommodates a wide variety of configurations.
How it works
Connect the heating band to your telescope and place the Thermistor's sealed probe tip under the heating band. Plug each cable into its corresponding port of the Smart DewHeater Controller.
NOTE: This thermistor is not required if you are using a Celestron Dew Heater Ring because the ring already contains a built-in thermistor.
NOTE: Heating Band Not included.
Enhance your setup
We also recommend adding a dew shield to your setup. While not mandatory, a shield will cut down on the amount of power your dew heater needs to keep the optics clear.

To achieve the best astroimages, it is important to attain the proper back-focus distance for your camera relative to the telescope it is being used with. If the back-focus distance your camera consumes is not exact, the performance at the corners of full frame imaging sensors will suffer—stars will appear elongated and not as pinpoints.
Example: RASA 8 with a ZWO ASI 183 MC PRO camera
- Required back-focus distance for RASA 8 with included M42 camera adapter: 25mm
- Back-focus consumed by ZWO ASI 183 MC PRO camera: 17.5mm
- To achieve equal back-focus distance, a 7.5mm M42 spacer ring is required
Celestron’s M42 Spacer Ring kit includes three different length spacer rings to achieve the proper back-focus distance with our popular Celestron optical tubes and T-thread camera adapters.
How to Use
Depending your method of astrophotography (DSLR or CCD/CMOS), there are two ways to use the M42 Spacer Ring. If you are using a DSLR, place the desired M42 Spacer Ring between your T-Ring and your T-Adapter for your optical tube. If you are using a CCD or CMOS camera, place the desired M42 Spacer Ring between the camera and the T-Adapter for your optical tube.
Below is a quick guide to help you determine which spacer ring to use for our EdgeHD, Schmidt-Cassegrain, and RASA 8 optical tubes:
| Spacer Ring Size: | Works best with: |
| 7.5mm | Provides proper spacing with RASA 8 for many ZWO cameras |
| 12mm | Provides proper spacing with RASA 8 for many Atik cameras |
| 30mm | Converts ZWO camera w/filter slider to 55mm back-focus standard for use with Schmidt-Cassegrain & EdgeHD |
Body
The M42 Spacer Rings are machined aluminum black anodized. The internal surfaces are blackened and glare-threaded to provide the highest contrast. Each spacer ring has a knurled surface, providing a great gripping surface for threading/unthreading. The M42 Spacer Rings are compatible with M42 x 0.75 (T-thread) camera adapters.

High quality, value for money telescope eyepieces optimised for planetary and close up viewing of deep sky objects.
What sets the Bintel Premium Long Eye Relief range apart from just every other mid-priced short to medium length eyepiece is their remarkably flat field design, edge-to-edge sharpness and superb mechanical construction.
You’ll notice the difference in crispness when exploring the details on the surface of the Moon, gazing at the rings of Saturn or peering into the heart of a globular like Omega Centauri. Views will be razor sharp all the way out to the edge of their 55 degree field of view thanks to a modern multi-element design.
The 14.5mm focal length of this eyepiece makes it great for medium magnification views.
Over 20mm of eye relief – the distance you can observe back from the eyepiece and still take in the entire field of view – makes for comfortable viewing with or without eye glasses.
The Bintel Premium Long Eye Relief Eyepieces are the perfect first upgrade from the standard eyepieces that come with your telescope.
The Pentax's 8x40 S-Series SP Binocular boasts a wide 65.6° field of view and porro prisms that produce a rich depth of view. The 40mm objectives are fully multicoated to reduce reflection and maximize light transmission through the entire optical path without making them overly cumbersome for a long day on the trail. The coatings ensure bright and clear high-contrast images even in low-light, and its utilitarian 8x magnification brings subjects close while maintaining wide 143m field of view at 1000m to capture the broader picture. The binocular sports a 13mm eye relief and the fold-down eyecups seal against the ocular cavity to block stray peripheral light which can dim images.
Fully-multi-coated optics assure maximum light transmission resulting in high quality viewing. Every surface of every element is fully coated minimizing internal glare and flare and giving a bright clear view. Aluminium-diecast body adds strength and durability. View your subjects even in dim light with high-quality BaK4 prisms that transmit more light at the edges to enhance illumination.

Learn how to understand the skies with this comprehensive pocket guide to cloudspotting.
Clouds have been the object of fascination throughout history, their fleeting magnificence and endless variability providing food for thought for scientists and daydreamers alike.
Clouds may have many individual shapes, but there are a few basic forms. In this definitive guide to the clouds and the skies, Richard Hamblyn introduces you to all the different cloud species. The Pocket Cloud Book will enable you to identify individual clouds, skies, and phenomena. You will also be able to track their likely changes over time and predict the implications they have for the weather you may experience.
This brand-new pocket-size edition includes the 12 new cloud types only recently officially recognised by the World Meteorological Organization. Many of these previously only had informal names, but their new Latin classification brings them into the fold of officially adopted global meteorological terms. It also includes a new foreword from the Met Office's Chief Meteorologist and an updated section on climate change and the role that clouds might play in shaping future conditions on Earth.
Produced in association with the Met Office - the world's premier weather forecasting bureau - all things to do with the origin and development of a cloud are here. Whether you are looking at a giant cumulonimbus or a tiny shred of stratus factus, an everyday occurrence or a fleeting rarity, your cloudspotting will be expertly informed and much more satisfying with this handy reference guide. This book will enable you to not only identify individual clouds and skies as they might appear at any given moment, but also to track their likely changes over time, and thus predict weather patterns.
Illustrated with stunning images from around the globe, this pocket edition is the perfect size to take with you on walks and have it handy in the garden so that you can enjoy sky-gazing every day. This is the only guide to cloud classification that you will ever need, in handy and practical pocket-friendly size.

Users will experience incredible views without breaking the bank or impinging on your telescope's balance. They represent what is perhaps the best buy today for astronomers on a budget or for beginners. But don't be fooled by their low prices - these might well turn out to be all the eyepieces you will ever need!
The Bintel Plossls are available in a 1.25" barrel size and 9 different focal lengths ranging from 6mm to 40mm. The 4mm, 6mm and 9mm models are great for high power planetary and lunar observation. The 12mm and 15mm are perfect intermediate focal lengths, performing well on both deep-sky and planetary subjects. The 20mm and 25mm models would be excellent choices for low power scanning of open star clusters and viewing larger galaxies. The 32mm and 40mm models offer a wide field and are superb for wide field scanning, detailed observations of large diffuse subjects or as a finder eyepiece.
- All eyepieces are fully multicoated (FMC) for maximum light transmission
- High quality lenses provide the best-possible sharpness all over the field of view
- Blackened lens edges reduce light scattering and improve contrast
- Fold-down rubber eyecups to keep out stray light
- Comfortable eye relief at all but the shortest focal lengths (As in all Plossl eyepieces, eye relief can get tight at the shorter focal lengths but this is design constraint, not a fault of these eyepieces)
- Includes two end caps
- 50 Apparent field (degrees)
