A 114 mm reflector you point with help from your phone.

114 mmaperture

114 mm reflector

The Celestron StarSense Explorer LT 114AZ uses a spherical primary mirror and a 1000 mm focal length. StarSense helps you locate an object, then you observe through the eyepiece. It suits a beginner who wants guided finding for visual observing.

40× / 100×supplied eyepiece powers

Two eyepieces, two viewing scales

The 25 mm eyepiece gives 40× magnification; the 10 mm gives 100×. These are the powers before adding the supplied 2× Barlow.

This is Celestron’s total telescope-kit weight. It describes the observing equipment, not the packed weight for transport.

Follow the arrows on your phone.

1

Align your phone

Place your compatible phone in the StarSense dock, open the app and align its camera with the telescope optics. The phone is supplied by you.

2

Choose a target

The app recognises star patterns and offers objects currently visible. Select one to bring up pointing arrows.

3

Move the telescope

Follow the arrows by moving the telescope yourself. When the bullseye turns green, look through the eyepiece.

Assembly and alignment details: LT 114AZ setup guide.

You control the altitude and direction.

The altazimuth mount moves up and down and side to side. Its altitude slow-motion rod helps you make small vertical adjustments as you follow a target.

StarSense supplies guidance. The mount has no motors, so you keep the object in view by adjusting the telescope.

The reflecting optics use glass mirrors with aluminium and silicon dioxide coatings.

Good to know

01

Darker skies reveal more

City lighting limits faint-object visibility. A darker observing location lets you see more of the objects this telescope can show.

02

Recheck alignment after moving your phone

Celestron recommends aligning the camera and telescope each time the phone is removed and replaced in the dock. This helps keep found targets centred.

03

Keep the unfiltered telescope away from the Sun

Never look at the Sun through this telescope without suitable dedicated solar filtration. Read Celestron’s solar safety guidance before considering any solar use.
