Background:

In 2011 Tele Vue introduced the Delos, mid-to-short focal length line of 20mm eye-relief, 72° apparent field of view eyepieces. Every optical, mechanical, and ergonomic aspect was rethought to achieve reference-standard performance for any visual application.

The Delos was conceived as a narrower field Ethos. Reducing the field to 72° allowed freedom to increase eye-relief, while controlling pupil aberrations, all without making the eyepiece too large. With Ethos performance standards as benchmarks, the Delos design achieves full field sharpness, virtually perfect f θ (theta) distortion mapping, and color neutrality. Image fidelity is maximized utilizing glass matched multicoatings and anti-reflection surfaces throughout the eyepiece.

Contrast is further enhanced with a new, continuously adjustable height eyeguard system that can be locked in any position. Since the Delos eye-lens measures a quite large 35mm in diameter, preventing stray light from reflecting off the first surface and extraneous light from entering your eye pays off in a nice increase in perceived contrast. The eyeguard's sliding action allows for positioning the soft rubber eyeguard at the ideal height to suit the observer's preference. The Tele Vue DeLite 3mm is one of the newest additions in the DeLite series. Announced in November 2016 it is sure to become a favourite in any eyepiece collection.

Available in 18.2, 15, NEW 13mm, 11, 9, 7, 5mm 4mm and 3mm focal lengths, the DeLite series is a delightful addition to Tele Vue’s visionary line of eyepiece developments. Named DeLite because that best describes the viewing experience, the name also recognizes designer Paul Dellechiaie’s work.

The Tele Vue DeLite 3mm is the shortest focal length available in the series and would be a great choice for planetary and lunar observing.

BUILT WITH IMAGING IN MIND

Most altazimuth telescopes are designed primarily for visual use, but not the CPC Deluxe HD. It offers all the same high-end features you’ll find Celestron's German equatorial mounts. Out of the box, your CPC Deluxe can track accurately for up to 30 seconds without adding a wedge, thanks to a re-engineered drive train with a 6-inch brass gear, stainless steel worm gear, and both steel and nylon ball bearings.

If you’ll be doing longer exposure astrophotography, adding the HD Pro Wedge turns this telescope into an astroimager’s dream setup. With a wedge, you can take advantage of the All Star Polar Alignment procedure, which has you polar aligned in just minutes. You can also train your mount to be even more accurate with Permanently Programmable Periodic Error Correction. Finally, your CPC tracks smoothly through the meridian without doing a meridian flip, enabling you to capture objects in the best part of the night sky.
