The original Lodestar used the ICX429 Exview chip from Sony and offered excellent sensitivity. However, the Lodestar X2 and the Lodestar PRO utilise Sony’s upgraded version of the CCD, the ICX829, with considerably improved QE and read noise. This new ‘Exview 2’ chip approximately doubles the Lodestar sensitivity and adds nearly a full star magnitude to the minimum guide star brightness.

It also features redesigned the boards so that a standard RJ12 guide socket can be used. This will please many users who have found the small ‘ZH’ cable socket to be too delicate.

Introducing the Starlight Xpress TRIUS PRO Series of cooled CCD cameras to our product portfolio.

The TRIUS range of cameras was introduced in 2014. These were the first cameras on the market to incorporate a powered USB 2.0 hub in the rear of the camera to enable the user to connect their USB filter wheel and guide camera directly to the camera rather than multiple cables back to the computer - simplicity and convenience.

The new TRIUS PRO Blue series follows on from that success. We have redesigned the electronics to give even lower read-noise figures and faster downloads. With the Sony CCD cameras, we are now getting read-noise figures that are better than most CMOS cameras (when used at unity gain), along with 16bit data and significantly better dark-noise figure thanks to the impressive cooling. Dark frames really are a thing of the past, making calibration frames optional rather than compulsory, giving you more time to capture data and process your images.

The Trius PRO-814 is a higher resolution version of the very popular PRO-694 camera. It has a similarly high QE and low thermal noise, but offers 9.19 megapixels of resolution.

Each pixel is 3.69 x 3.69 uM in size. This camera features a triple USB hub and Argon fill, along with 3 stage Peltier cooling.

The very high resolution makes the 814 particularly well suited to the super-fast short focus ‘scopes and ‘Hyperstar’ systems that are now widely in use. The new ‘PRO’ version reduces the read noise and download time of the original Trius 814 design.

Overview

The QHY5III715C is an ultra-high resolution back-illuminated color camera with extremely low read noise. The sensor has a 1/2.8-inch optical format, similar to the QHY5III462C. However, the QHY5III715C has 4X as many pixels as the QHY5III462C for 4K resolution with 1.45um pixels.

This makes the new QHY5III715C ideal for smaller short focal length refractors. The exceptionally small pixels subtend a FOV of less than 1 arcsecond at focal lengths of 12 inches (300mm) or longer. The QHY5III715C inherits all of the updates and improvements of the QHY5III Series Ver. 2 line of cameras (See below).

The QHY5III (Ver. 2) series planetary and guiding cameras are all equipped with a 512MB DDR3 image buffer which can effectively reduce the pressure on computer transmission, a great help for planetary photography which often requires writing a large amount of data in a short period of time.

Some deep-sky astrophotography cameras on the market today only have 256MB, for example.

In comparison, the 512MB DDR3 memory of the new 5III (Ver. 2) series cameras represents a significant upgrade.

Extended Near Infrared Sensitivity

In this latest generation of sensors, the photodiode portion of the pixel well is physically deeper than in previous sensors, allowing photons of longer wavelengths to penetrate deeper into the substrate. The ASI2600 Duo CMOS Camera combines imaging and guiding sensor in one compact body. The main sensor is the Sony IMX571 coming with a native 16bit ADC, 14stops dynamic range and 3.76um square pixel array. The readout noise is as low as 1.0e, and the full well capacity reaches an incredible level of 80ke. And it has no amp glow!

The guide sensor is the Type 1/1.8 SC2210 with excellent NIR sensitivity. The sensor size is 7.68mm x 4.32mm. It has 4umx4um pixels with an array of 1920x1080 and a full depth of 8780e.

The stars on the corner of the guide images affected by reducers back focus distance might not be very round. It is not due to the sensor tilt and will not affect normal use.

Two-in-one design

Thanks to the compact design, the ASI2600MC Duo only needs one USB cable for control. It reduces potential cabling issues and improves setup speeds. You don’t need a separate OAG and guide camera.

Guide sensor

The SC2210 sensor taken from the ASI220MM Mini camera features very high sensitivity. The QE peak value reaches 92% at 500nm. The readout noise is as low as 0.6e. As the new generation of guide sensor, it has achieved great results in guiding, proved by hundreds of astrophotographers.

Main sensor

The main sensor IMX571 features an APS-C format and 26MP total pixels. The size is 23.5mm in width x 15.7mm in height, and the diagonal is 28.3mm. The 3.76um x 3.76um small pixel size accommodates an impressive full depth of 50ke. With the new hardware technology, it is even extended to 80ke.

STARVIS technology

ASI2600 Duo CMOS Camera is based on Sony STARVIS technology. Sony’s back-illuminated CMOS image sensor improves sensitivity and noise reduction – the key factors to enhancing image quality.

Native 16bit ADC

This 16-bit ADC is not a CCD 16-bit ADC. It can really achieve a dynamic range output of 14stops, which will significantly improve the image sharpness and contrast, and also create smoother and more natural color transitions.

FPS

ASI2600 Duo CMOS Camera’s max FPS in RAW 8 mode at full resolution is 15FPS, which is even quicker compared to ASI2600MC Pro.

Extended full well mode

The full well capacity of ASI2600MC Duo is extended to 80ke, which is 1.6x larger than ASI2600MC Pro.

USB 3.0 & 512MB DDR3 buffer

With the match of USB 3.0 and 512MB DDR3 buffer, ASI2600MCDuo provides stable and secure data transmission that can effectively avoid frame-dropping issues during long exposures.

No amp-glow

Traditional CMOS sensors produce a weak infrared light source during operation quite often seen in the corner of uncalibrated images. It is the tell-tale sign of amp glow. As the ASI2600MM Duo uses zero-amp glow circuitry, you won’t have to worry about amp glow even when using high gain, long exposure imaging.

QE (Quantum efficiency)

Based on our testing results, the QE peak value of ASI2600MC Duo is over 91%.

Two-stage TEC cooling

Thanks to the two-stage TEC cooling, ASI2600MM Duo can lower the CMOS sensor temperature to more than 35 degrees Celsius below ambient temperature, which can greatly reduce dark current generation and sensor noise even during extended exposure times.

*The Delta T 35℃ is tested at 30℃ ambient temperature. It might get downto this when the cooling system is working for a long time. Also, as the ambient temperature falls, the Delta T would decrease.

The focal length at f7/7 is also longer, this will yield higher details and slightly higher magnifications but with a field of view suitable for all deep-ky objects. The longer focal length will be especially effective on planetary and larger deep-sky objects which, when combined with the larger 130mm aperture, will provide stunning details in a reasonable time.

The ZWO FF130 APO with its quadruplet lens structure which contains two pieces of ED glass will control chromatic and other aberrations. With its self-flattening design, the ZWO FF130 APO offers strong advantages in astronomical shooting. It supports a medium frame 60mm image circle, has a fine spot diagram with tiny distortion on the peripheral stars, and its central RMS radius is less than 2 microns.

The OTA weighs only 10.5 kg, and the full package with tube rings and other accessories weighs 12.5kg. The 3.4″ rigid focuser comes with a new-type 360°rotator with scales and a finder base. M86, M68, M54, and M48 camera adapters are also attached, and the M48 adapter has a 2” female thread for installing filters. The Celestron Dew Shield DX is an essential accessory that protects your optical tube in the field. It prevents excess moisture in the air from forming condensation on the corrector lens. A dew shield also helps block stray light from entering the telescope for better viewing and astroimaging. Use the Dew Shield DX on your 6” and 8” Schmidt Cassegrain, EdgeHD, and RASA (with single dovetail) optical tubes with confidence.

Construction

The Dew Shield DX provides a perfect, custom fit designed specifically for 6” and 8” Celestron optical tubes. The Dew Shield is built from durable PE plastic that is flexible but strong. Extra padding has been added at the tube attachment edge to create a stronger fit on the optical tube. The felt-lined interior absorbs any additional stray light and excessive moisture, creating optimal contrast when viewing and imaging. The large dovetail cutout has been made both wider- to accommodate a 4” wide dovetail rails, as well as deeper, to create a more solid connection with the optical tube.
