The lightest vibration-canceller binoculars with 422 g (as of November 2017 by our company survey). It is lightweight binoculars equipped with vibration-canceller mechanism. Extremely stable field of view can be obtained even with hands thanks to the powerful vibration-canceller effect. You can observe everything in detail such as the shine of the bird's eyes and the pattern of the feathers and enjoy the live feeling as watching nearby.
Features
The incorporated vibration-canceller mechanism assures very stable image
Vibration by hands makes it often difficult to see cearly objects particularly at high magnification. ATERA H12x30 incorporates a vibration-canceller mechanism with a 2-axis gimbal control image stabilization mechanism. With a strong correction effect of vibration correction angle ± 3 degrees (up, down, left and right), a stable field of view can be obtained even at a high magnification of 12 times. Since micro vibration is also cancelled, it outperforms in observing details such as the shine of bird's eyes and the pattern of feathers. Also, if you observe a star, you can observe up to the darkest star as much as 1st grade than ordinary, which can not be seen with blurring.
Lightest 422g design
allows operating by singl hand
The 422g light weight as binoculars equipped with vibration cancelling mechanism . You do not feel tired even using for a long time.
Stamina 12 hours duration with AAA batteries
Two AAA batteries are used for power supply. Since it is easy to obtain anywhere, it is safe to observe in the field and live in remote areas. Thanks to the stamina design of operation time around 12 hours (using a new alkaline dry battery at 20 ° C), you can focus on observation without worrying about battery consumption.Auto power off function which automatically turns off the power after 5 minutes elapses prevents wasteful battery drain.
Clear visibility by three coatings
By applying fully multi coating with anti-reflection multilayered coat on the entire lens surface, the phase coat on the prism that reduces halation and dramatically increases resolution, and a high reflection coat that increases the brightness of the image, stray light and loss of light intensity are thoroughly eliminated for an extreme clarity in the field of view.
Ergonomically desinged for excellent operability
A gentle rounded form fitting to a small hands, a focus ring that can be turned smoothly with light touch by single finger, a universal design that does not choose dominant hands, locating a battery space away from finger-touch area, all designed for holding comfort without stress. Considering loss of parts in a dark place such as a concert venue, we designed battery lid integrated.
Fashionable but simple design
Simple and smooth form gentle to hands, light beige color coordinated. It is a full-fledged mechanicics incorporating vibration-canceller mechanism, neutral design easy to coordinate to various fashion. An elegant and restless gloss feeling directs fashionable casually.
Mini-toto included
It comes with a mini tote bag type case. With a purse straw, the strap that tends to get in the way is also stored entirely. It fits neatly in the bag

This makes it a great hiking and backpacking tripod to match with advanced enthusiast and professional camera bodies and/or heavy lenses in the field.
All 700 series carbon fiber tripods have legs made up of carbon fiber material that is actually comprised of 8 layers of inter-woven carbon strands that are then bonded together in a sealed, high-pressure furnace producing strong, light weight carbon fiber. The legs also feature A.R.S (Anti-Rotational System) is designed into the leg locks and do not allow the individual legs sections to rotate inside each other. Each leg also has an independent lock that sets in one 3 angles to vary the height and stance of the tripod. The three setting are for maximum height, waist level or low angle photography close to the ground.
The four leg sections are secured and loosened with twist locks. Because the legs are non-rotating, you can unlock all of a leg’s stages at once by twisting the three large rubber grips with one hand. This enables fast setup.

Pixfra Mile 2 Thermal Monocular: creating new pathways for birding and conservation
Thermal imaging is changing the way we observe and count birds in their natural environment - at all times of the day or night, without intrusive lighting or disturbance.
Any birder knows there's often times when birds are hidden from view, either by foliage or the time of day. It becomes even more frustrating when bird counts are needed to estimate population or species locations for conservation efforts and protection and they simply can't be properly seen.
In situations like this, no matter how powerful the binoculars you're using, the birds will remain hidden.
Thermal imaging devices lets you "see" birds via the heat their bodies produce - revealing them in bushes and trees or when there's simply not enough natural light otherwise.

Clear, sharp images and amazing mobility
A handy-size 500mm that offers a whole new shooting experience
The SIGMA 500mm F5.6 DG DN OS | Sports is an ultra-telephoto prime lens exclusively for mirrorless cameras that features a 500mm focal length with outstanding image quality in a remarkably compact and lightweight body. By incorporating multiple large-diameter, exclusive low-dispersion glass elements that are challenging to process, SIGMA succeeded in significantly downsizing the lens construction without the use of diffractive optical elements. At the same time, the lens has achieved high resolving power that meets the expectations for a 500mm prime lens. The lens body, composed mainly of high-precision engineering plastic parts, has excellent build quality and weather resistance, including dust and splash resistant structure*, despite its compact size. With its rich descriptive power and incredibly compact size for its focal length, the handy-size SIGMA 500mm F5.6 DG DN OS | Sports offers a whole new photographic experience for wildlife, aviation, sports and other fast-action photographers.
* The structure is designed to be dust and splash resistant, but not waterproof. Be careful not to bring the lens in contact with a large amount of water. Water inside the lens may cause major damage and even render the lens unrepairable.
Perfect for hand-held shooting, a 500mm lens with unparalleled optical performance
The latest optical design using exclusive low-dispersion glass elements has succeeded in achieving both an extremely compact lens construction and high optical performance with excellent correction of aberrations. In addition to its size that allows hand-held shooting, the high-speed AF with HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) and the OS2 optical stabilization algorithm support comfortable shooting.
High optical performance and compact lens construction
The latest optical design has succeeded in significantly downsizing the optical system for a 500mm ultra-telephoto lens. By utilizing exclusive low-dispersion convex elements at the front of the lens, the lens delivers both a high aberration correction capability and a short overall length. The high level of production technology at SIGMA’s only manufacturing base, the Aizu factory, provides the exacting precision necessary for processing the exclusive low-dispersion glass elements with a large aperture. The lens has excellent correction of all aberrations, especially axial chromatic aberration, which cannot be corrected by the camera body, ensuring a stable high resolution from the center to the periphery of the image.
Excellent backlight resistance
The SIGMA 500mm F5.6 DG DN OS | Sports uses refractive lenses in its optical system to prevent flare and ghosting that are characteristics of diffractive optical elements, allowing for clear images without concern for flare or ghosting even in backlit conditions or when a light source is included in the image. Furthermore, measures are taken against all conditions of incident light based on state-of-the-art simulation technology.
High-speed AF with a linear motor HLA
A linear motor HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) is used for the actuator, which is characterized by its high driving accuracy owing to the advanced electronic control, as well as its quietness. The HLA enables fast and accurate autofocus even in ultra-telephoto photography, such as sports and bird, where extremely precise focusing is required.

Stackable
Two Lage Format AFW wheels can be stacked to add even more filter slots, using the available Dual AFW Filter Wheel Adapter. “Virtual Slots” can be assigned, which map to different slots on the two wheels. If you leave one slot empty in each wheel you get almost double (less two) available filter slots. If you sometimes need to stack filters then you can have even more virtual slots.
Fast Operation
AFW wheels switch filters quickly, requiring just 1 second to change to an adjacent slot. They can slew in either direction, but when stopping they always approach the filter slot in the same direction to ensure repeatability. If the requested slot is on the far side of the carousel the maximum transition time is approximately 5 seconds.
Improved Filter Compatibility
Large Format AFW supports the most popular filter sizes, convenient spacers are included:
- 3 mm filters – do not use spacer
- 2 mm filters – align notches in spacer with mounting screws
- 1 mm filters – flip over spacer so notches face the filter
- 5 mm filters – AFW-10-50ST only – adds tall spacers and mounting screws
The lower-cost Compact Format AFW supports 3 mm thick filters.
Easy Installation
The AFW series filter wheels are designed to be quickly installed onto the camera without removing the carousel. Removing a single access cover provides access to the filter slots and camera mounting screws. Large Format AFW can be installed without removing filters; the Compact Format will require one filter to be removed.
For the Large Format AFW wheels, two mounting screws are “captive” under the carousel, and can be accessed by turning the carousel by hand to align access holes with the screw heads. The two remaining screws are freely accessible. This makes installation and removal quick and easy.
For the Compact Format AFW wheels, the two mounting screws under the carousel can be accessed through a filter slot by gently moving the carousel off-center.
Once the wheel is attached to the camera, a single cable is connected to the camera’s AUX port. This single cable provides all necessary power and control functions.
Dual Wheel Support
For those users requiring more filters, the AFW Large Format series wheels include the ability to control two filter wheels. The filter wheels can be stacked using our AFW Dual Adapter. A matching three-port low profile cable is included to connect the two wheels to the camera’s control port.
Currently software support is available via an Aluma AC series camera and MaxIm LT or MaxIm DL Pro software. Alternatively, the dual wheel can be controlled via our SBIG USB to Filter Wheel Adapter using its associated ASCOM driver.
The software allows you to configure “virtual” filter slots, that map to specific slots on wheel 1 and wheel 2. Usually one slot is left blank in each wheel, allowing you to select filters from one wheel or the other. It is also possible to arrange for two filters to be used per slot, depending on your requirements.
With one blank slot in each wheel, a pair of AFW-10-50SQ wheels allow you to use 18 filters. Similarly a pair of AFW-12-50R wheels will allow you to use 22 filters, and a pair of AFW-16-36R wheels will allow you to use 30 filters.
StarChaser Autoguider and AO Compatibility
Large Format AFW series wheels are compatible with SBIG StarChaser SC-4, providing self-guiding in front of the filters. They also work with our popular AO-X Adaptive Optics unit, providing the tightest possible star images.
Compact Format AFW wheels are compatible with SBIG StarChaser SC-4C, providing self-guiding in front of the filters. They also work with our popular AO-8A Adaptive Optics unit.
Large Format Camera Model Compatibility
Please note that when smaller filters are used they may vignette larger sensors. Compact models will require the AFW to Small Format Camera Adapter. Some cameras will require an 11066 cable adapter. Some older products are not electrically compatible and need to use the USB-FW adapter.
Small Format Camera Model Compatibility
The lower-cost Small Format AFW-8-36R is compatible with all small format cameras, including Aluma CCD and STC-428. It is also compatible with legacy models including STF-8300, STF-4070, STF-8050, STF-1603, STF-3200, STT-8300, STT-1603, and STT-3200.
Additional compatibility notes:
STC-7 and STC-428-P: The built-in filter wheel prevents the camera from controlling an external wheel. Options are (a) to replace the built-in wheel with an STC-428-M front plate, or (b) stack the AFW on top and control the second wheel via a USB-FW adapter. The two wheels can be operated together using MaxIm DL’s Dual Filter Wheel feature. ACC14 is required.
ST series: Not officially supported. Requires an ACC14. May work directly with camera but this is not guaranteed, as ST cameras have not been tested with AFW. If there is an issue controlling the wheel than a USB-FW adapter will be required.
STL series: Not officially supported. The built-in filter wheel prevents the camera from controlling an external wheel. It is possible to attach an AFW wheel to the STL using the ACC10 STL to StarChaser Adapter and use a USB-FW to control it. Since STL also has an internal filter wheel the combination is best supported using MaxIm DL’s Dual Filter Wheel feature.

Even-Illumination Shutter
All Aluma CCD cameras include a mechanical shutter, which is used for both dark/bias calibration frames and for shuttering exposures on full frame sensors. Rather than using a complex iris shutter, which are prone to failure, the Aluma CCD uses a twin vane shutter and direct drive motor for high repeatability, reliability, and extremely long life. The shutter is designed to be “even illumination” for the best accuracy in photometric measurements.
Extreme Sensitivity CCD 77-00 Image Sensor
The Aluma CCD77-00 uses the 0.26 megapixel E2V CCD 77-00 sensor, featuring peak quantum efficiency (QE) of 93% with midband coatings. This full frame, back-illuminated sensor is designed for the ultimate in sensitivity. We offer Midband coating for the highest quantum efficiency. Other coatings are available on special order.
CCD 77-00 Quantum Efficiency Curves The CCD 77-00 has 512 x 512 pixels at 24 microns square, for a 12.3 mm square chip size. This back-illuminated full-frame CCD sensor has extremely low noise and extremely high sensitivity. Combining this high-performance sensor with Aluma CCD’s high cooling performance and low readout noise results in exceptionally clean images. SmartCoolingTM
All Aluma CCD cameras include our powerful new SmartCooling technology. The two-stage cooler, powerful fans, and advanced heat sink designed using thermal flow simulation combine to produce typical cooling delta from ambient of -50C. This is quite a feat considering the Aluma CCD’s very compact and lightweight package. SmartCooling automatically adjusts the fan speed to optimize cooler performance and power consumption. The camera’s firmware is constantly monitoring the sensor and heat sink temperatures, as well as controlling the cooler power. When full cooling power is needed – when ramping down or running near full power – the fans ramp up to their maximum speed, resulting in the strongest possible cooling. When less cooling power is needed the fans automatically slow to reduce noise levels and power consumption. SmartCooling also prevents any possibility of overheating by backing off power if the heat sink gets too hot – so you don’t need to worry if your camera is baking in a hot observatory during the day. Advanced Software Included
All Aluma CCD cameras come with our MaxIm LT software – a $249 value! MaxIm LT is a special version of our venerable MaxIm DL software that provides complete control of your camera, filter wheel, and autoguider, plus advanced image processing capabilities. If you wish you can upgrade to MaxIm DL Pro to get complete observatory integration and even more processing and analysis capabilities. FW8S-Aluma is the 8-position filter wheel for Aluma CCD Series cameras. It is compatible with Canon EOS and Nikon lens adapters.
The carousel holds eight 36mm filters and inserts are available for 1.25″ filters. The 36 mm filters provide unvignetted imaging for the largest Aluma sensors.
Aluma wheels include a positive centering mechanism that precisely centers each filter in the exact same position every time. This single-pixel accuracy completely eliminates ghost images of dust spots and other artifacts after flat-fielding.
The left-hand image below shows a dust spot on the filters. A flat-field calibration frame was taken, then the filter wheel was rotated several times before taking a second picture, which was flat-field calibrated, at right. No evidence of the dust spot is visible. This high precision results in the highest quality images and excellent photometric accuracy.

SBIG StarChaser SC-2 Off-Axis Guider Cameras
Diffraction Limited’s new SBIG StarChaser SC-2 is the world’s first, all-in-one independent Off-Axis Guiding Camera with Adaptive Optics support. The StarChaser operates independently of the main camera. It combines a pick-off mirror, guider camera, guide port, and Adaptive Optics control.
Stop wasting time with ruined exposures caused by flexure between the main camera and guider. Off-axis guiding eliminates this problem by using the same optical path for the main camera and the guider.
Most off-axis guider assemblies are awkward to use, consume too much back focus, and require you to focus by slipping a camera inside an eyepiece holder. SBIG pioneered simplified off-axis guiding, with guide sensors built into CCD cameras. Later, we created the self-guiding filter wheel, placing the guide sensor in the light path ahead of photon-robbing narrowband filters. The StarChaser is the next step in this progression – a fully independent guide camera with AO capability.
Note: When using with StarChaser with AO, you will need a StarChaser to AO-X/AO-8T Adapter Cable. The necessary adapter cable is included in our StarChaser SC-3 / AO-X Bundle and StarChaser SC-2 / AO-8A Bundle.
Three Versions Available
StarChaserSC-2 is designed to work with our compact SBIG cameras. It supports the AO-8A adaptive optics unit. See the table below for compatibility with various camera models.
Adapters are also available to attach StarChaser to legacy STL cameras. For STL cameras with smaller sensors and internal filter wheel, you can use the SC-2 with the appropriate adapter. Another adapter is available to attach the SC-3-SHORT, for STL cameras with larger sensors and the external filter wheel.
The StarChaser represents our next generation of off-axis guide technology. It features a high-sensitivity 1.3 megapixel Global Shutter CMOS sensor with 4.8 micron pixels. Unlike competing autoguiders, the StarChaser has a mechanical shutter for easy dark frame correction. This feature, standard on all SBIG guiders, optimizes sensitivity and eliminates hot pixels that could degrade guiding accuracy. The pick-off mirror position is adjustable by loosening a locking knob and sliding the mirror into or out of the housing. You can avoid vignetting the main sensor while optimizing the light path into the guide sensor. Once that is set, focus is adjusted simply by turning a second knob. Adaptive Optics Control
Thanks to the SBIG StarChaser series, our renowned Adaptive Optics (AO) technology is now available for virtually our entire camera line! Our AO-8A (available separately) bolts onto the front of the StarChaser SC-2. The StarChaser is in turn attached to the front of an SBIG standard filter wheel and camera. Adaptive Optics technology eliminates guiding errors caused by common mount problems such as stiction, periodic error, and wind loads. It can even reduce “slow seeing” effects resulting in higher resolution images. Thin and Adaptable
The STarChaser StarChase ST-2 SC-2 is just 0.800″ (20.3 mm) thick. When attaching to a filter wheel the existing adapter plate (0.147″ / 3.7 mm thick) would normally be moved from the filter wheel onto the front of the SC-2. When attaching an AO-8A to the front of the SC-2, the adapter plate is not used. StarChase SC-2 Instruction Manual

Mechanical Shutter
The SBIG Aluma CCD 814 has electronic shuttering, allowing a minimum exposure of just 0.001s. In addition, it has a high-reliability mechanical shutter, which facilitates accurate dark/bias calibration frames.
High-Performance ICX-814 Image Sensor
The SBIG Aluma CCD 814 uses the popular 9-megapixel SONY ICX-814ALG sensor. This sensor has 3388 x 2712 pixels at 3.69 microns square, for a 12.48 mm x 9.98 mm chip size.
This is a high-sensitivity interline CCD sensor with an extremely low dark current and very low read noise. Combining this high-performance sensor with Aluma CCD’s high cooling performance and low readout noise results in exceptionally clean images.
This sensor includes microlens technology that concentrates light on the sensitive area of each pixel. The CCD’s sensitivity peaks in the center of the visible spectrum at 550 nm, and maintains high sensitivity throughout the visible spectrum. The ICX-814 is particularly good in blue compared to other sensors on the market.
SmartCoolingTM
All Aluma CCD cameras include our powerful new SmartCooling technology. The two-stage cooler, powerful fans, and advanced heat sink designed using thermal flow simulation combine to produce a typical cooling delta from an ambient of -50C. This is quite a feat considering the Aluma CCD’s very compact and lightweight package.
SmartCooling automatically adjusts the fan speed to optimize cooler performance and power consumption. The camera’s firmware is constantly monitoring the sensor and heat sink temperatures and controlling the cooler power.

The Aluma AC series has powerful two-stage cooling and supports optional water cooling. Aluma AC cameras can be operated directly from a 12VDC 8A power supply.
Design features include:
Back-Illuminated Sensor
Incredible sensitivity! High-performance back-illuminated sensors are flipped over and thinned during manufacture, so incoming light does not encounter any circuitry before hitting the sensitive pixel area. This provides optimum sensitivity across the entire visible spectrum – and beyond.
The sensor in the GSENSE2020BSI-H has a peak quantum efficiency of 91%, with a broad peak in the visible spectrum. For near UV and IR applications, it features good sensitivity all the way from 200 nm to 1000 nm.
Chamber Window Coating Options
The GSENSE2020BSI-H sensor is windowless, which provides the optimum sensitivity across the sensor. For windowless sensors we recommend recharging the desiccant plug annually, to avoid any risk of moisture contamination on the sensor.
The fused silica optical window on the sealed sensor chamber is available with two standard coating options, depending on your application. VIS-NIR provides optimal sensitivity from 400 nm through 1000 nm. UV-VIS provides optimal transmission from 250 nm through 700 nm.
StackPro™
The SBIG Aluma AC2020BSI scientific CMOS camera features StackPro™, a revolutionary feature that performs image stacking inside the camera.
CMOS sensors often have more limited well depth and bit depth than their CCD predecessors. At the same time, the modern CMOS sensors have much lower read noise than the equivalent CCD. This low read noise can be used to advantage, by stacking many shorter exposures to achieve the same final result. This does however result in a lot of extra disk usage and post-processing.
StackPro™ performs the stacking automatically, inside the camera. It automatically subdivides your exposure into up to 16 individual subexposures, and stacks them inside the camera prior to download. This eliminates the excessive amounts of data cluttering up your hard drive. Stacking can also be used as an alternative to High Dynamic Range (HDR) mode.
HDR Mode
The sensor in the AC2020BSI is capable of operating in HDR mode, where high-gain and low-gain images are read out simultaneously. Our included MaxIm LT software features an HDR merge feature, which greatly simplifies the process of producing clean, highly linear images.
Superior Cooling
Proven pin heatsink design shared with industry-leading STX series cameras gets the heat out while providing low vibration. Includes SmartCooling™ intelligent thermoelectric cooling and fan operation.
Water Circulation Ready
For high ambient temperature environments, the liquid cooling option improves thermal performance and helps minimize dark current.
User Rechargeable Desiccant
SBIG pioneered including a high-tech user-replaceable cartridge with a ceramic filter and molecular sieve desiccant. Unlike competing cameras, which require factory service when their chamber desiccant eventually saturates out, the user can easily recharge the desiccant. This eliminates the need for costly service – not to mention the associated downtime and shipping costs. This feature is especially important in high-humidity locations.
Electronic and Mechanical Shutters
The GSENSE CMOS sensor has an electronic rolling shutter. In addition, the Aluma AC series cameras include a mechanical shutter to enable convenient dark-frame subtraction for optimal performance and sensitivity. This is essential for remote/robotic operation.
Optional 12 Position Filter Wheel
The SBIG Aluma AC2020BSI is compatible with the new 12 position SBIG AFW-12-50R filter wheel, utilizing 50 mm round filters.
It is also compatible with the 7 position FW7-STX filter wheel, utilizing 50 mm square filters.
Self-Guiding and Adaptive Optics Options Available
The available SBIG StarChaser SC-3 is an excellent low-cost option for integrated autoguiding in front of the filters, and it supports our SBIG AO-X Adaptive Optics accessory.
The AO-X uses a tip-tilt window to quickly and precisely adjust the image position in response to autoguider feedback. With Adaptive Optics there is no backlash, stiction, or lag, and the movements are precise and accurate. This allows the AO-X to not only remove the effects of periodic error, drift, and wind gusts but also reduce the effects of atmospheric seeing. When used with an Aluma AC camera, the AO-X requires the StarChaser SC-3.
For more information please see AO-X.
USB 3.0 Interface
The Aluma AC includes a USB 3.0 interface port for high-speed downloads. For installations where longer cable lengths are required, the port is also compatible with USB 2.0.
I2C AUX Port
The STX cameras have a convenient auxiliary control port (also known as an I2C AUX port), which controls the filter wheel and provides optional external trigger interfaces. Unlike older SBIG models, the AUX port is not used for AO-X control, as this function is now handled by the optional SBIG StarChaser SC-3 off-axis guiding camera.
MaxIm LT Software
All SBIG cameras come with our MaxIm LT software – a $200 value! MaxIm LT is a special version of our venerable MaxIm DL software that provides complete control of your camera, filter wheel, and auto guider, plus advanced image processing capabilities. If you wish you can upgrade to MaxIm DL Pro to get complete observatory integration and even more processing and analysis capabilities.
Included Accessories
