The night sky, at f/2.2.
The smallest Rowe-Ackermann Schmidt Astrograph ever built. Ultra-fast prime-focus optics, sub-arcsecond resolution and 3.8 kg of grab-and-go portability for serious deep-sky astrophotography, anywhere.
Professional optics. In a body you can carry with one hand.
Patented Rowe-Ackermann Schmidt architecture.
The RASA places the camera at prime focus, the same position used by professional wide-field survey telescopes. No secondary mirror, no Barlow, no lost light. More photons reach your sensor, in less time.
Since RASA technology debuted in 2014, defence contractors, professional researchers and governments have relied on it for space surveillance and satellite tracking. The RASA 6 delivers that same proven design in a portable package.
- Schmidt corrector plate and primary mirror minimise optical aberrations across the field
- Three-element rare-earth glass lens group ensures sharp, flat focus edge-to-edge
- Spot size under 1.5 μm RMS across the full image circle
NGC 6888. The Crescent Nebula.
Captured with the RASA 6 and an astronomical CMOS camera. Short sub-exposures stack into stunning images in a fraction of the time needed by slower instruments.
Four reasons it’s unlike anything else in its class.
Speed, resolution, portability and field of view, all engineered into one compact prime-focus astrograph.
Lightning-fast astrophotography at f/2.2.
The RASA 6’s blazing focal ratio dramatically shortens sub-exposure times. Faint deep-sky objects that would take hours with a typical refractor can be captured in a fraction of that time. Paired with live-stacking software, bright detailed images appear on your screen in just minutes. In many conditions you can image without an autoguider, simplifying your entire setup.
Sub-arcsecond potential.
Despite its compact size the 152 mm aperture delivers a Dawes resolution of 0.76 arc seconds. Pair it with a high-resolution CMOS camera in steady seeing and you will resolve fine structure in galaxies, nebulae and star clusters that smaller instruments cannot touch. The flat field means stars stay sharp from the centre all the way to the corner of the sensor.
Grab-and-go, genuinely.
At 3.8 kg the RASA 6 is light enough to carry with one hand and fits in a bag alongside your mount. The CG-5 dovetail means it drops straight onto most mid-range tracking mounts without adapters. Chase dark skies without compromising on optical performance. This is the astrograph you will actually take with you.
Wide field without sacrifice.
The RASA 6 is designed for sensors up to 22 mm diagonal, delivering a useable field of 3.76°. Wide enough to frame the Orion Nebula, the Pleiades and large emission nebulae in a single shot. Off-axis illumination of 91% at 8 mm means the field stays bright from edge to edge, reducing processing time on flats and vignette correction.
StarBright XLT. Maximum light throughput.
Every refractive and reflective surface is treated with Celestron’s proprietary StarBright XLT multi-layer coating. The result is exceptional light transmission and superior field illumination across the full wavelength range from 400 to 700 nm.
The RASA design outperforms a Schmidt-Cassegrain in Fastar-style configuration for field illumination. Less vignette, less processing, more imaging.
M42. The Orion Nebula.
IMX183C colour CMOS camera. 60 × 2 min exposures plus 20 × 15 sec exposures for the bright core. The wide field and fast optics of the RASA 6 capture the full extent of the nebula in a single frame.
Everything the modern astroimager needs, integrated.
A filter drawer, a cooling fan, a camera adapter and a CG-5 dovetail. Ready to image, straight out of the box.
1.25″ and 2″ filters. Without slowing you down.
The built-in filter drawer accepts both 1.25″ and 2″ filters. A removable 2″ clear optical window ships as standard. Unlike many fast astrographs, swapping in a filter adds no extra glass to the optical path, so f/2.2 performance is fully preserved.
Thermal equilibrium, fast.
The integrated 12V DC MagLev fan pulls air through mesh vents to rapidly cool the optical system to ambient temperature. Sharper stars and better images from the moment you start. The fan battery pack is included.
Plug a CMOS camera straight in.
The included M42 T-thread camera adapter attaches most popular astronomical CMOS cameras directly to the RASA 6 without extension tubes. The 42 mm clear aperture comfortably accommodates sensors up to 22 mm diagonal. Back focus with the included adapter is 17.5 mm.
Mount-ready, no adapters.
The CG-5 dovetail bar is compatible with a wide range of tracking mounts straight out of the box. No adapters, no Vixen-to-Losmandy conversions. Ready to image as soon as you saddle up. For maximum performance, add the optional Celestron Focus Motor for electronic focus control.
Results from the RASA 6.

Capturing the beauty of the night sky has never been easier!
The POLARIE U is an ultra-compact automatic star tracking device that can easily be transported. In addition to functions of conventional star trackers that move a camera for long exposure according to the diurnal motion of the celestial objects, it features a function for customizing rotation speeds using a smartphone and can control the intervals of shots by adjusting the shutter release. By linking the motion of the POLARIE U with the shutter release, you can easily set up complex shooting controls required for interval photography and time-lapse photography with your smartphone
Lightweight and small yet delivering high performance. The state-of-the-art POLARIE U turns nature and night photographs into works of art.
Vixen POLARIE U Star Tracker Overview
"Star-scape photography: A silhouetted landscape on the earth is weaved into a beautiful photo of the starry sky."
The beauty of the earth and the universe could be combined in a photo with the scenery of the night sky. The POLARIE U expands a wonderful world of star-scape photography and the pleasure of photography can be experienced by everyone.
“Star-scape photography” are photographs that capture the stars and scenery together, such as the Milky Way and mountains, or the constellations and buildings. Unlike conventional astrophotography these photographs capture a relatively narrow area in the sky, “Star-scape photography” mainly uses a wide-angle lens and creates impressive photos where stars and scenery combine. The possibilities of composition are endless, and it is a new genre of landscape photography that anyone can easily enjoy.
The POLARIE U is a handy camera platform that automatically follows the movement of the stars. By shooting with the camera, which is mounted on the POLAREI U and a tripod, you will be able to produce works of beautiful starry skies in an image with pinpoint stars.
Weight reduction of more than 20% and improved carrying capacity.
The structure of the original POLARIE was reviewed completely. The distance between the two bearings that support the rotating shaft is about four times that of the previous model. This achieves a great improvement in loading capacity successfully in spite of the weight reduction by 20%. * 1
The maximum loading weight is 2.5kg/5.5 lbs (approx. 2.5kg/5.5 lbs at 10cm from the center of rotation) when it is used for taking wide-fiel d astrophotography or spar-scape photography.
The maximum loading weight will be increased to 6.5kg/14 lbs (approx. 2.5kg/5.5 lbs at 10cm from the center of rotation) if a POLARIE Multi mounting block (optional) and a Dovetail slide bar DD (optional) are combined together.
Furthermore, when used for time-lapse photography, the POLARIE U can hold the loading capacity as heavy as 10 kg/22 lbs at the maximum (about 10 kg/22 lbs at 10 cm from the center of rotation), and it is usable with large equipment. * 2
* 1: In comparison with POLARIE.
* 2: When the POLARIE U is set for time-lapse photography and placed horizontally using the bubble level attached.
Using the custom setting mode via a smartphone.
By using a communication function and app, various settings are customized via smartphones or tablet terminals. In star-scape photography, tracking speeds are selected (in the custom mode), and settings of interval time, exposure and rotation speed are available in time-lapse photography. It allows for a wide variety of selections for the enjoyment of photography.
Five Tracking Modes.
Star-scape photography (Half speed of the sidereal rate)
If this mode is selected, the POLARIE U tracks stars at half the speed of the diurnal motion of the stars. The terrestrial objects are moved less as compared with images taken by wide-field astrophotography at a given exposure time. Adding landscape or architectural objects in the foreground wil l make your photos more impressive.
Wide-field astrophotography (sidereal rate)
If this mode is selected, the POLARIE U follows stars at the same speed as the diurnal motion of the stars. It is suitable for capturing con stellations, the Milky Way or faint celestial objects such as nebulae and star clusters.
Solar tracking
Useful for shooting solar eclipse.
Lunar tracking
Useful for shooting lunar eclipse.
Custom mode
This allows for setting the POLARIE U in your desired tracking speed arbitrarily. The initial setting is four times of the sidereal rate. If you change the setting for a different speed, a smartphone or other wireless device and application software are required.
A “shoot-move-shoot” function (SMS) that is linked with a camera.
It is possible to stop the motion of a camera during exposure when shooting in time-lapse and start the motion of the camera again when the exposure finishes. This is useful as a time-lapse rotator so you can create better quality images in every single shot in the day or night.
In addition, it is equipped with a camera connecting port (shutter release terminal) that controls the camera shutter in the shooting with the SMS or interval shooting.
If the camera used is provided with the bulb shutter function and cable shutter release terminal, the settings can be made easily from a smartphone by linking the POLARIE U and the camera's shutter release to each other.
When you use this function, the communication terminals with Wi-Fi connection such as a smartphone and application software are required. In addition, a cable to connect the camera and the POLARIE U is needed separately.
Autoguider Port.
Commercially available autoguiders can be used with the POLARIE U. (This will move in the direction of R.A. only.) Pin assignment: In order of common, press the shutter button halfway and press the shutter button completely, from center to outward.
Easy-to-carry like a photo lens and stylish appearance.
With the size and appearance that fit in your camera bag like a photo lens, it is easy to carry everywhere. The shape of the POLARIE U is designed properly so as not to interrupt the orientation of the camera. The "U" for the POLARIE U stands for the cross-section of the product.
The direction of the slide power switch implies the directions of rotations in the northern or southern hemisphere. Right after turning ON the power switch, the icons on the mode display start blinking one after another toward the direction of the rotation which corresponds to the slid of the power switch.
The power supply in two ways: self-contained and external.
The POLARIE U works with 4 AA batteries. In addition, it is equipped with a USB (USB Type-C) external power supply port and works with commonly available USB power banks.
A versatile platform available for different options.
Camera Mounting Block (Supplied)
The supplied came mounting block is equipped with a 1/4-inch camera screw. A commercially available ball head can fit on it.
POLARIE Multi Mounting Block (sold separately)
The camera mounting block is exchangeable for the POLARIE multi mounting block to increase the loading capacity for serious astrophotography. With the use of a dovetail slide bar DD (optional) in combination, it can be transformed into an imaging platform for a telephoto lens or a short tube telescope such as an FL55SS OTA. Get the most out of your Celestron Rowe-Ackermann Schmidt Astrograph 11, even under light-polluted skies, with this Light Pollution Imaging Filter, custom-designed for the RASA. No matter which camera you use, this filter’s generous 68 mm clear aperture allows it to easily accommodate today’s largest sensors. Utilizing a machined aluminum housing and Schott B270 glass, the filter replaces the RASA’s clear optical window so the RASA’s optical performance is unaltered.
Remove Light Pollution While Keeping Your Images Bright
Light pollution limits how much of the night sky we can see and photograph. When imaging with a color camera in light polluted areas, skyglow degrades image quality. Light pollution filters help to selectively block light emitted from common streetlights and other ambient lighting. But most light pollution filters greatly compromise the total light throughput, causing dim images, and negatively impact the color balance, causing images to appear too green or blue.
The Light Pollution Imaging Filter for RASA “surgically” removes unwanted light pollution while preserving as much of the useful spectrum as possible. That means you’ll still retain over 90 percent of the light captured by your telescope at many wavelengths.
Unlike other light pollution suppression filters, the Celestron LP Imaging Filter for RASA maintains a relatively neutral color balance so you can bring out subtle color in galaxies and other faint deep sky objects. Multiple layers of specially-formulated dielectric coatings provide the desired transmission, while anti-reflective coatings minimize star halos and internal reflections.
Also included is a clear plastic case to protect the filter when not in use
Individually Tested for Quality
Every RASA 11 Light Pollution Imaging Filter is tested individually for light transmission. Inside the box, you’ll receive a graph detailing the actual transmission spectrum for your specific filter.

The Rowe-Ackermann Schmidt Astrograph (Celestron RASA 36), is a cost-effective optical system for space surveillance, Space Situational Awareness (SSA), other scientific applications, and advanced wide field astroimaging. It offers unprecedented value in aperture, speed, field of view, and optical performance. The RASA design has a convenient external prime-focus image capture location with a flat focal plane, providing small spot sizes to the edge of a wide field. The result is images free of optical defects like field curvature, off-axis coma, and astigmatism.
The 36 cm aperture version is the largest RASA Celestron manufactures; it is the biggest and fastest (f/2.2) optical instrument of its kind available off-the-shelf. Unlike most telescopes, which only focus visible light (400-700 nm), the RASA 36 cm focuses an extended spectral range (400-900 nm), allowing a brighter signal to be detected by a camera sensor. The RASA 36 cm also features a redesigned focus system, which ensures easy and stable focusing.
RASA 36 c sample back-focus distance (77.5 mm) accommodates a wide variety of imaging sensors. A custom camera adapter can be added for a field of view up to 4.4 degrees.
Important freight requirement RASA 36 is a professional-caliber, high-precision instrument. It is manufactured and aligned to an exacting standard to provide exceptional optical performance. The telescope has been packaged to ensure it retains alignment and resulting performance during transport. However, due to the weight, size, and known stresses of shipping via parcel service, Celestron has determined that the ideal transport is a palletized delivery via LTL truck freight. For all Australian deliveries, Celestron will ship via this method. Please contact us for further freight costs

The Astronomik 6nm H-alpha filter is an extremely narrow emission-line filter for CCD photography. The filter lets the H-alpha light of emission nebulae pass and blocks nearly the whole remainder of the spectrum where the CCD is sensitive.
The full width at half-maximum (FWHM) of 6nm is optimized for a maximum contrast between the (H-alpha emitting) object and the background. The contrast gain is much higher than with our 12nm emission line filters but you won’t see as much stars in the resulting images.
The design of the transmission curve makes it possible to use the filters with instruments from 1:3.75 to 1:15. Selected filters for faster system are available upon special request.
All transmission curves of the 6nm filter are measured individually. Because of this procedure you can get the optimum filter for your telescope: If you place a direct order please specify the focal ratio of your instrument and we will select the best filter for your setup. So you may get the best filter without paying for an A+ filter.
Main use
The Astronomik H-alpha-CCD (6nm version) increases the contrast between objects, in this case between the H-alpha emission line and the skyglow background in the same way as the 12nm version. The gain in contrast is much higher due to the smaller FWHM. The 6nm H-Alpha filter is the right choice for extremely dim objects, even in the milkyway, and for observations from heavily light-polluted places. The Astronomik 6nm H-alpha-CCD completely suppresses the emission lines of artificial lighting (mercury (Hg) and sodium (Na)) and skyglow. Transmission losses and chromatic distortions, which arise with other filters, only occur with Astronomik filters when extremely bright aperture ratios come into play. Selected filters for faster systems are available upon special request.
Other uses
- Using the Astronomik 6nm H-Alpha together with the 12nm H-Alpha gives you the ability to have a maximum contrast in the HII objects and to keep the stars in the final image.
- The Astronomik 6nm H-Alpha filter may NOT be used for solar observation.

The Astronomik SII-CCD filter is a narrow-band-filter for CCD photography. The filter lets the light of the ionized sulfur (SII) pass, and blocks nearly the whole remainder of the visual spectrum as well as IR, in which the CCD is sensitive.
The full width at half maximum (FWHM) of 12nm is optimal suitable for common CCD cameras and allows the use of very fast optics. The range of application extends from 1:2.8 to 1:15. Transmission losses and chromatic distortions, which arise with other filters, only occur with Astronomik filters when extremely bright aperture ratios of 1:2 and more come into play. It should be noted, that the filter has a transmission of up to 99%.
Another advantage of the 12nm filters is the good availability of guiding stars for cameras with a built-in-autoguider (SBIG). If you use a very strong filter like our 6nm filter you often won't find a usable guidestar.
The Astronomik SII CCD filter increases the contrast between objects, in this case between those with SII emission lines and the skyglow background. Also, our Astronomik SII-CCD filter completely suppresses the emission lines of artificial lighting (mercury (Hg) and sodium (Na)) and skyglow.
Main use
The Astronomik SII CCD increases the contrast between objects, in this case between the SII emission line and the skyglow background. Our Astronomik SII CCD completely suppresses the emission lines of artificial lighting (mercury (Hg) and sodium (Na)) and skyglow. Due to the high optical quality of the Astronomik H-alpha-CCD substrate you will see the same needle-sharp stars as you would from your regular telescope.
Other uses
- Using the new H-alpha-CCD and the new SII-CCD filters you can obtain three-color images of emission line objects (gas nebulae) from locations with very strong light pollution. To do so, you would take an image in three different wavelengths, select each one as a color-channel in Photoshop and paste them together as one single color image.
- If you plan to create color images from emission line data, our CLS-CCD filter is a great choice for the Luminance channel.
Suitability

- Visual observation (urban skies): Unsuitable
- Film photography: It depends, but very long exposure times

The ATIK LRGB 2" filter set consists of Luminance, Red, Green and blue filters, that have been designed for CCD cameras to image deep sky objects, galaxies and stars in their natural colour. Take advantage of our special offer. Get 50% off any filter set (or both filter sets), when you buy any Atik mono camera (with the exception of the Atik GP).
If a natural colour representation is what you want from you deep-sky imaging, an LRGB filter set should be your first choice. With OIII emission overlapping on the blue and green filters to allow high efficiency and natural colour imaging of all deep-sky objects. The gap between green and red filters serves to block out the light pollution line at 589nm and improves the colour of your images.
