Vaonis Vespera Pro 2 smart telescope

12.5 MP detail. Five-minute setup.

The Vaonis Vespera Pro 2 smart telescope captures high-resolution deep-sky images without a full astrophotography rig. The Sony IMX 676 sensor, CovalENS mosaics and automatic multi-night capture do the repetitive work, while manual controls and 16-bit files keep experienced imagers in command.

The highest native resolution Vaonis puts in a smart telescope. Automation gets you observing. 16-bit files let you keep going.

Sony IMX 676

12.5 MP in a square 1:1 sensor.

The 3536×3536 colour sensor records a useful square field with 2μm pixels and a native image scale of 1.6 arcsec/pixel. Fine sampling brings out smaller structures in nebulae, clusters and galaxies without turning the telescope into a cable-heavy imaging rig.

CovalENS

50 MP mosaics, assembled automatically.

Choose a wider composition and CovalENS plans, captures and combines the panels for you. The model product page specifies a maximum 4.18°×2.45° field, so broad nebula complexes and galaxy groups can fit without sacrificing the native pixel scale.

Multi-night capture

Resume the same mosaic tomorrow night.

Framing, gain, exposure, stacking progress and mosaic progress are retained between sessions. Open the project, tap Resume and add more integration time without rebuilding the sequence by hand.

Open workflow

16-bit FITS when the automatic result is not enough.

Set exposure, gain and framing manually, capture calibration data and export individual FITS frames or a 16-bit TIFF pre-stack. Process in PixInsight, Siril or the software you already know.

Optics

50 mm f/4.9 quadruplet with S-FPL52 glass.

The redesigned three-group apochromatic system and refined field corrector send a flatter, cleaner field to the sensor. Internal optical baffles reduce direct stray light, while a CLS filter remains the right tool for general urban skyglow.

Weather protection

Humidity sensing turns anti-fog on for you.

Temperature and humidity monitoring activates the integrated anti-fog system when conditions demand it. That removes one more cable and one more setting from long coastal or cold inland sessions.

All-night projects

11 hours of battery, 225 GB of headroom.

Run from dusk to dawn without a separate field battery in normal conditions. Thirty multi-night slots and generous internal storage keep ambitious captures organised, with USB-C transfer available when you are ready to process.

BalENS calibration

One master dark, cleaner data across sessions.

BalENS balances weaker and brighter signals while flattening the sky background in real time. Automatic dark calibration reduces sensor noise without adding a manual calibration routine to every night.

Observer controlling a Vaonis Vespera Pro 2 smart telescope with the Singularity app under a dark sky
01 • Singularity app

One button, one app, about five minutes.

Wake the telescope, connect in Singularity and choose a target from the catalogue. Initialisation, pointing, focusing, tracking and live stacking are handled automatically.

02 • Plan My Night

Schedule a sequence, then let the telescope run.

Plan My Night carries out a programmed observing sequence without constant supervision. It works with Mosaic Mode and Multi-Night Capture, so a long project does not have to occupy your whole evening.

03 • SkyColor Studio

Refine contrast, colour and noise in the app.

SkyColor Studio offers approachable edits for sky background, denoise, colour, star balance and palettes. Export the result there, or move into a full 16-bit desktop workflow when you want deeper control.

Vespera Pro 2 sample

Four hours on M17 with a dual-band filter.

Vaonis captured the Omega Nebula under Bortle 4 skies. The image shows the kind of wide, detailed emission-nebula work the 12.5 MP square sensor and f/4.9 optics are designed to tackle.

Portable observing

5 kg, 48 cm tall, ready for a shared night.

The Vaonis Vespera Pro 2 smart telescope folds to 48×20×9 cm and travels with a carbon-fibre tripod, dedicated tripod bag and protective flycase. Its app-controlled, beginner-friendly setup makes shared astronomy easy, while manual capture options leave room to grow.

Four hours on M27 at 1.6 arcsec per pixel.

The Dumbbell Nebula was captured by Vaonis with a dual-band filter under Bortle 4 skies. It demonstrates the instrument’s native sampling across a compact planetary nebula and the surrounding star field.
