The ZWO ASI662MC is a one-shot colour planetary camera for recording high-speed video through a telescope. Use the full frame for lunar close-ups or select a smaller region around a planet for faster capture.
The camera reaches this rate at 1920 × 1080 over USB 3.0 in 10-bit high-speed mode with RAW8 output.
The pixels sample the image formed by your telescope. How finely they sample the sky depends on the telescope’s focal length.
The imaging area measures 5.568 × 3.132 mm. At a given focal length it gives a tighter field than a larger sensor.
See the front fitting and the two side ports. The box contents are pictured separately below.

The back-illuminated Sony IMX662 STARVIS 2 sensor can hold up to 38,200 electrons per pixel. That capacity gives bright features more room before they saturate. At high gain, the camera’s high-conversion-gain mode reduces read noise.

Quantum efficiency describes how much incoming light the sensor converts into signal. ZWO reports a peak of 91% for the colour model. The curves show how the red, green and blue channels respond at different wavelengths.

The ASI662MC eliminates amp glow in hardware. ZWO’s example shows 300-second dark frames from the ASI462MC and ASI662MC. The frames illustrate amp glow and still show ordinary image noise.

The diagram shows the camera and supplied nosepiece in line with the telescope. The optional filter sits on the telescope side of the nosepiece.

USB runs to the computer. ST4 runs separately to the mount’s autoguider port when used. The drawing also locates the rear mounting thread.

The camera’s front thread is M42 × 0.75. Match both the diameter and the pitch if you’re using a threaded fitting.
Use the camera’s own back-focus distance when you work out spacing for the rest of your optical setup.
