Keep the 11 mm T2 ring fitted
The camera measures 6.5 mm from its bare mounting face to the sensor. With the ring installed, that becomes 17.5 mm.

The ASI294MC Pro pairs a back-illuminated Sony IMX294 colour sensor with regulated cooling. Each exposure records colour through the sensor’s built-in filter array, so you can build a colour image of a nebula or galaxy in one capture sequence.
The 19.2 × 13.0 mm imaging area sets the field of view for a given focal length. Use the 4.63 µm pixel pitch when working out how finely your setup samples the sky.
A deeper pixel well holds more signal before it fills. ZWO rates the camera at up to about 13 stops of dynamic range, depending on gain.
High conversion gain switches on automatically at this setting. It’s a useful point to compare with lower gain, where the pixels have more capacity before they saturate.
Regulated two-stage thermoelectric cooling reduces dark current in long exposures. Pick a setpoint the camera can sustain so you can capture lights and calibration darks at the same sensor temperature.
Available cooling varies with ambient temperature and how long the cooler has been running.

Sensor performance and connections
ZWO’s colour-model plots show the gain trade-off and how the three colour channels respond to different wavelengths.

The charge a pixel can hold before saturation. It starts near 63,700 electrons and decreases as gain increases.

The electrons represented by one digital count. ZWO marks approximately one electron per count at gain 117.

The span between the noise floor and saturation. It rises back to around 13 stops at the gain 120 transition.

Noise introduced when the sensor is read. At gain 120, the plotted read noise drops to around 2 electrons RMS.

The red, green and blue traces are scaled to their peak. The green trace is strongest around 530 nm, while the red trace is strongest at longer visible wavelengths.

Use this stack when your reducer or flattener calls for 55 mm from its rear reference surface to the sensor.

Fit the supplied 21 mm section ahead of the camera.
The supplied 16.5 mm section brings the total to 55 mm. Use the supplied M42–M48 adapter when the thread on the optics calls for it.

At full resolution over USB 3.0, ZWO lists up to 16 fps in 14-bit mode and 19 fps in 12-bit high-speed mode.
The 32 mm window transmits into the near infrared. Factor that into your filter choice.
The unlocked higher-resolution mode described for the ASI294MM Pro is exclusive to the monochrome model.
