This product will be available for sale in 2 weeks, but you can pre-order now to receive 10% discount!
Global-shutter mono capture at high frame rates
The ASI174MM uses Sony’s monochrome IMX174 global-shutter sensor. Its 1936 × 1216 frame and high USB 3.0 readout rate make it a practical fit for short-exposure lunar imaging.
Expose the whole frame at once
The global shutter exposes all pixels together, avoiding the time offset between rows that occurs with a rolling shutter.
Set the sampling with your focal length
Larger pixels cover more sky at a given focal length. Match the image scale to the telescope and seeing.
Capture a burst of short frames
ZWO lists up to 128 fps at 12 bit or 164 fps at 10 bit over USB 3.0.
A threaded mono imaging body with USB 3.0
The ASI174MM has a removable 11 mm T2 ring and a supplied 1.25″ nosepiece. The uncooled body is intended for short-exposure work where high readout speed matters. Use separate filters when you need a particular bandpass.

Gain and spectral response

Full well
The charge a pixel can hold before saturation. The full well starts near 32,400 electrons and falls as gain increases.

Conversion gain
The electrons represented by one digital count. The conversion factor drops steeply at low gain, with a marker at gain 189.

Dynamic range
The span between the noise floor and saturation. The curve loses several stops between low gain and gain 400.

Read noise
Noise introduced when the sensor is read. Most of the noise reduction comes at lower gain, then the plot levels off near 3.5 electrons RMS.

Quantum efficiency
The monochrome sensor peaks near 500 nm. Its quantum efficiency falls steadily into the red and near infrared.
