Fast monochrome capture for the planets and Moon

The ZWO ASI662MM is the monochrome camera in the ASI662 series. Record in greyscale or add a filter to isolate the wavelengths you want to capture.

107.6 fpsMaximum at full resolution

Capture more frames in a short video

Use USB 3.0 and 10-bit high-speed RAW8 to reach the maximum at 1920 × 1080.

2.9 µmPixel size

Small pixels for close-up imaging

The Sony IMX662 monochrome CMOS sensor uses 2.9 µm pixels to sample fine detail in a magnified image.

1/2.8″Sensor format

Frame a planet or a patch of the Moon

The active area is 5.568 × 3.132 mm. The compact frame is suited to small targets and close-up lunar views.

What changes the frame rate?

Maximum frame rates at 1920 × 1080.

Use a smaller frame when the planet fits

A 640 × 480 region of interest reaches up to 227.4 fps over USB 3.0 in 10-bit high-speed RAW8.

How the monochrome sensor handles light

Full well and read noise

A 38.2 ke⁻ full well gives bright areas room before saturation. High conversion gain engages at a gain setting of 200 to reduce read noise. The camera has zero amp glow at the hardware level.

Sensitivity across wavelengths

ZWO estimates 91% peak quantum efficiency for the ASI662MM. The response curve shows how sensitivity varies across visible and near-infrared wavelengths.

ZWO ASI662MM relative spectral response from 400 to 1,000 nm

ZWO’s ASI662MM curve shows relative response, with the peak normalised to 1.0.

Connect the camera to your setup

Telescope connection
Use the included 1.25-inch nosepiece or the camera’s M42 × 0.75 thread with a matching fitting.
Window and filters
The ASI662MM has an AR-coated protective window. The nosepiece setup accepts an optional 1.25-inch filter. ZWO also lists kits with optional CH₄ methane-band and 850 nm IR-pass filters.
Power, data and guiding
The Type-B USB port carries power and data. Use USB 3.0 for the highest frame rates. The 256 MB DDR3 buffer supports data transfer, and the ST4 port provides a separate connection for guiding.

Check the dimensions before mounting

ZWO ASI662 dimensions showing the 62 mm body, M42 by 0.75 thread and 12.5 mm back focus
1

Check clearance

The camera body is 62 mm across. A 1/4-inch socket provides a tripod mounting point.

2

Match the thread

The front thread is M42 × 0.75 (T2).

3

Allow for 12.5 mm of camera back focus

Use this distance from the camera’s mounting face to the sensor when planning your optical spacing.
