ZWO
ZWO ASI294MM-Pro Cooled Mono CMOS Camera
$2,049.00
This product will be available for sale in 2 weeks, but you can pre-order now to receive 10% discount!
Choose between fine sampling and deeper wells
The ASI294MM Pro is a cooled monochrome camera with a Sony IMX492 sensor. Standard Bin2 and unlocked Bin1 give you two ways to sample the same field. Choose the mode around the telescope, seeing and the amount of saturation headroom you need.
Keep more headroom for bright cores
The 4144 × 2822 output uses 14-bit conversion and holds up to about 66.4 ke⁻ per output pixel at the appropriate gain.
Sample more finely when conditions support it
The 8288 × 5644 output uses 12-bit conversion and has a smaller well, about 14.4 ke⁻. Expect larger files.
Collect luminance or filtered exposures
The mono sensor records the light passed by your chosen filter. Use a suitable filter set if you want to build a colour or narrowband image.
Regulated cooling for a monochrome filter sequence
The two-stage cooler helps maintain the same sensor temperature as you move between filters and capture matching darks. ZWO rates the mono camera at about 35 °C below ambient at 30 °C ambient. Actual cooling depends on conditions.

Read the Bin1 and Bin2 plots separately

Full well (Bin2)
The charge a pixel can hold before saturation. The standard mode holds more charge at low gain than the unlocked Bin1 mode.

Conversion gain (Bin2)
The electrons represented by one digital count. The conversion factor falls as gain increases in standard Bin2.

Dynamic range (Bin2)
The span between the noise floor and saturation. The Bin2 plot recovers around gain 120, then loses range as gain increases further.

Read noise (Bin2)
Noise introduced when the sensor is read. The Bin2 curve shows a sharp drop at gain 120.

Full well (Bin1)
The charge a pixel can hold before saturation. The unlocked mode starts at about 14,400 electrons and loses capacity as gain rises.

Conversion gain (Bin1)
The electrons represented by one digital count. The conversion factor trends down across the unlocked-mode curve.

Dynamic range (Bin1)
The span between the noise floor and saturation. The plotted range falls as gain rises in unlocked Bin1.

Read noise (Bin1)
Noise introduced when the sensor is read. The unlocked-mode curve falls gradually over the range shown.

Relative spectral response
The red trace is the ASI294MM Pro and the blue trace is the ASI1600MM Pro comparison. The ASI294MM Pro trace stays higher across the plotted wavelengths.
