ZWO ASI533MC Pro Cooled Colour CMOS Camera

This product will be available for sale in 2 weeks, but you can pre-order now to receive 10% discount!
A square sensor for deep-sky colour
The ASI533MC Pro puts a square, back-illuminated Sony IMX533 sensor in a regulated cooled body. Its one-shot colour capture and square frame suit targets that benefit from room on all four sides, from round nebulae to centrally framed galaxies.
Compose without a long edge
The 11.31 mm square sensor gives the same field width and height at a given focal length.
Match the sampling to your telescope
Pixel size and focal length together determine the angle recorded by each pixel.
Leave room for brighter stars
The rated full well is the charge a pixel can hold before saturation. Available headroom changes with gain.
Cooling for repeatable long exposures
Two-stage TEC cooling helps hold a chosen sensor temperature for long exposures and temperature-matched darks. The model-specific specification table rates the drop at 30–35 °C below ambient at 30 °C ambient. The camera’s zero-amp-glow design avoids a bright readout glow at the edge of long exposures.

Sensor curves and setup diagrams

Full well
The charge a pixel can hold before saturation. The low-gain end is marked at about 50,000 electrons.

Conversion gain
The electrons represented by one digital count. The curve falls through about one electron per count near gain 100.

Dynamic range
The span between the noise floor and saturation. The range recovers at gain 100 before declining at higher settings.

Read noise
Noise introduced when the sensor is read. At gain 100 the plot shows an abrupt drop from over 3 to about 1.5 electrons RMS.

Relative spectral response
Relative colour response peaks at a different wavelength for each channel. The green trace has its strongest response in the green part of the visible band.

Dark current versus temperature
The plot shows charge accumulating even with no light. Dark current falls as the sensor cools, reaching around 0.00013 electrons per pixel per second near −20 °C.
