ZWO
ZWO ASI585MM Air Mono Smart Camera
$1,599.00
This product will be available for sale in 2 weeks, but you can pre-order now to receive 10% discount!
4K monochrome imaging with guiding and control built in
The ASI585MM Air pairs a cooled Sony IMX585 monochrome camera with a separate guide sensor and built-in ASIAIR control.
Frame a wide 4K image
The main sensor measures 11.2 × 6.3 mm and uses 2.9 µm pixels.
Compare the mono rating
ZWO publishes separate full-well figures for the mono and colour cameras.
Capture a session on the camera
There’s support for up to 1 TB of external storage over USB 2.0, alongside dual-band Wi-Fi.
Guide and capture from the same controller
The SC2210 is a separate guide sensor. The ASIAIR app can manage capture, guiding and live stacking. Two-stage cooling helps control dark current during longer exposures.

What the Air needs from the rest of the rig
Main sensor and guide sensor performance

Full well
The charge a pixel can hold before saturating. The monochrome plot starts at about 38,700 electrons and falls as gain rises. The vertical scale is logarithmic.

Conversion gain
The electrons represented by one digital count. The graph marks the point near one electron per count at gain 195.

Dynamic range
The gap between the noise floor and saturation. The plotted range recovers from about 10 to nearly 12 stops at the gain transition shown.

Read noise
The noise introduced when the sensor is read. At the step marked on ZWO’s plot, it drops from about 4 e⁻ to about 1 e⁻ RMS.

Relative monochrome response
The main sensor’s response is scaled to its own peak. It stays near that peak across much of the red before tapering in the near infrared.

Protective window transmission
ZWO’s anti-reflection window curve stays near 100% through much of the visible band and tapers toward 1000 nm.
