ZWO ASI678MC Colour Camera
$479.00
This product will be available for sale in 2 weeks, but you can pre-order now to receive 10% discount!
2 µm colour pixels for fine planetary sampling
The ASI678MC is an uncooled one-shot colour camera with a Sony IMX678 sensor. Its small pixels provide fine sampling at a given focal length, and the 4K frame gives you room to keep a larger lunar feature in view.
Sample finely without automatically adding focal length
Whether you need a Barlow depends on the telescope, wavelength and seeing.
Frame broader lunar features
Use the full sensor to compose, then use a smaller readout window when frame rate matters.
Record short bursts over USB 3.0
The same full frame reaches up to 23.7 fps in RAW16. Smaller regions can read out faster.
A compact camera for short-exposure capture
The STARVIS 2 sensor has a zero-amp-glow design. Use short captures and a smaller region of interest when recording a planet. With no regulated cooler, the sensor temperature follows the imaging conditions.

Sensor curves and setup diagrams

Full well
The charge a pixel can hold before saturation. The curve starts at around 11,300 electrons and falls as gain rises.

Conversion gain
The electrons represented by one digital count. The plot marks unity gain at 85.

Dynamic range
The span between the noise floor and saturation. The curve recovers at the high conversion gain transition before tapering at higher settings.

Read noise
Noise introduced when the sensor is read. High conversion gain is marked at 182, where read noise steps down sharply.

Quantum efficiency
The curves show the fraction of incident photons detected in each colour channel. The blue trace peaks at a shorter wavelength than green or red.
