APS-C one-shot colour for deep-sky imaging
The P25 version pairs Sony’s APS-C IMX571 colour sensor with two-stage cooling, native 16-bit conversion and a front tilt plate for long-exposure deep-sky work.
A detailed field
The 6248 × 4176 array covers 23.5 × 15.7 mm with 3.76 µm pixels.
Room for brighter signal
ZWO rates the revised sensor package at 73 ke⁻ per pixel.
Preserve tonal separation
ZWO measures up to 14 stops of dynamic range and recommends gain 0 or 100 for deep-sky imaging.
Control dew and long-exposure noise
A polyimide heater is bonded to the protective window, while two-stage TEC cooling helps suppress dark current. Zero-amp-glow circuitry keeps that corner glow out of long exposures.

Sensor curves and setup diagrams

Full well
The charge a pixel can hold before saturation. The expanded full well is marked around 73,000 electrons. Capacity falls as gain rises.

Conversion gain
The electrons represented by one digital count. The curve falls quickly at lower settings, then levels out toward the higher end.

Dynamic range
The span between the noise floor and saturation. The plot recovers around gain 100, then declines at higher gain.

Read noise
Noise introduced when the sensor is read. High conversion gain engages at 100 and the plotted noise falls from about 3 to about 1.4 electrons RMS.

Relative spectral response
The relative response of the green channel peaks around 530 nm. The red trace peaks at a longer visible wavelength.

Dark current versus temperature
Dark current is charge that accumulates even with no light. This plot shows how cooling the sensor reduces its rate of accumulation.
