ZWO
ZWO ASI585MC Colour Camera

This product will be available for sale in 2 weeks, but you can pre-order now to receive 10% discount!
Frame the Moon in 4K, then window in on a planet
The uncooled ASI585MC uses a back-illuminated Sony IMX585 colour sensor. Its wide 4K frame suits lunar work, and a smaller region of interest lets the camera concentrate on the planet and read out faster.
Keep a wider lunar scene in view
The 16:9 sensor records a wider horizontal field than vertical field at a given focal length.
Match the detail to your optics
The sampling depends on focal length, and seeing sets a practical limit to detail.
Record a burst for frame selection
Use USB 3.0 for the quoted maximum. In RAW16 the manual lists up to 23.7 fps at full resolution.
The uncooled IMX585 in a compact body
USB supplies power and carries capture data. ZWO specifies zero amp glow for the ASI585MC, which removes that particular fixed glow pattern. The camera is uncooled, so it does not regulate sensor temperature during longer exposures.

Sensor curves and setup diagrams

Full well
The charge a pixel can hold before saturation. ZWO’s gain plot starts near 47,000 electrons. The published product specification rates full well at 40,000 electrons.

Conversion gain
The electrons represented by one digital count. The curve drops rapidly at lower settings and ZWO marks gain 210.

Dynamic range
The span between the noise floor and saturation. It dips below 10 stops and then recovers to nearly 12 at high conversion gain.

Read noise
Noise introduced when the sensor is read. The sharp drop is at gain 252, where the plot falls to around 1 electron RMS.

Quantum efficiency
The curves compare colour-channel response across wavelength. The red and green channels reach their peaks at different visible wavelengths.
