15x reach. A steadier handheld view.

The Canon 15x50 IS All Weather binoculars pair high magnification with optical image stabilisation for distant wildlife, landscapes and night-sky observing.

15xMagnification

Study detail at a distance.

A close view of distant subjects, with stabilisation to help manage the hand shake that high magnification makes more visible.

50 mmObjective lenses

Large front lenses gather the light.

The second number is the diameter of each objective lens, rather than the magnification.

79 mField at 1,000 m

Know how much fits in the view.

At a distance of one kilometre, the view spans 79 metres from side to side.

Press to steady the detail.

The vari-angle prism system helps counter hand shake while you observe. It cannot compensate for every movement, particularly severe shaking.

  • Press onceIS runs for five minutes; press again to stop.
  • Press and holdIS operates while the button is held.
  • Rubber coatingA non-slip grip with cushioning against minor knocks.

UD glass and a flatter field.

Less colour fringing.

Ultra-low dispersion glass reduces chromatic aberration around high-contrast detail.

Clearer towards the edge.

A doublet field flattener reduces field curvature to help keep peripheral detail sharp.

Fewer unwanted reflections.

Super Spectra multicoating helps preserve contrast and colour rendition.

Two AA batteries power the IS.

Alkaline AAApprox. 2.5 hours of continuous stabilisation at 25°C.
Lithium AAApprox. 8 hours of continuous stabilisation at 25°C.
Without batteriesOptical viewing remains available; image stabilisation does not.

Runtime is based on Canon test conditions. Cold reduces battery life: at −10°C, the corresponding figures are about 10 minutes for alkaline and 3.5 hours for lithium AA cells.

Set the eyepieces to your eyes.

01

Bring the views together.

Adjust the eyepiece spacing until the images merge. With glasses, fold the eyecups back; eye relief is 15 mm.

02

Balance left and right.

Focus a distant subject through the left eyepiece, then adjust the right dioptre ring for the same subject.

03

Use the central focus.

Turn the focus wheel for subjects from approximately 6 metres to infinity.

Good to know.

Water-resistant for rain.

The body is water-resistant for rain. Keep it out of the water; it is not for underwater use.

A tripod remains an option.

The built-in socket accepts tripod support for longer viewing sessions. A tripod is not included, and IS may not correct severe movement.

Close subjects need another approach.

The near-focus limit is approximately 6 metres, so these are better suited to observing at a distance.

Keep the battery compartment dry.

Wipe off water before changing batteries. Remove the cells for prolonged storage.

Never point them at the Sun.

Looking at the Sun or a bright light through binoculars can cause loss of vision.
