Celestron NexStar 8 SE
Limited Edition

Limited to just 500 telescopes worldwide. This exclusive edition pairs Horsehead Nebula artwork with two extra Omni eyepieces, a 2× Barlow and a Moon filter.

An 8-inch telescope beneath the nebula artwork.

The Celestron NexStar 8 SE Limited Edition retains the standard 8SE’s Schmidt-Cassegrain optics and adds a Horsehead Nebula finish. Its 203.2 mm aperture gathers light for the Moon, planets, star clusters and deep-sky observing.

StarBright XLT coatings support light transmission, while the 2032 mm focal length provides the magnification for exploring lunar and planetary detail. Faint galaxies and nebulae benefit from dark skies.

The nebula image is artwork on the optical tube, not a representation of the view through the eyepiece.

Align on three bright objects. Then let GoTo do the finding.

The single-fork computerised mount works with the NexStar+ hand control and its 40,000-object database.

01

Set up and enter your details

Assemble and level the tripod, fit the telescope and accessories, then power on. Enter your observing location, date and time in the hand control.

02

Centre three bright objects

Use SkyAlign and the hand-control buttons to centre three bright objects in the finder and eyepiece. You do not need to know their names.

03

Choose a target and track it

Once aligned, select an object from the NexStar+ database. The GoTo mount moves the telescope to it and tracks as you observe.

Good to know

01

Allow for a power source

Use eight AA batteries, which are not included, or a compatible external 12 V DC tip-positive supply. An external power supply is not included in this package.

02

Carry it in separate components

The optical tube, mount and tripod separate for transport. Plan for each component’s weight, including the 5.4 kg optical tube and 5 kg mount head.

03

Choose it primarily for visual observing

GoTo tracking helps keep an object in view. Long-exposure deep-sky photography needs equatorial tracking to address field rotation; the supplied mount operates in alt-azimuth mode.

04

The Moon filter does not protect against the Sun

Never point the telescope at the Sun without a suitable solar filter fitted over the front aperture. Never use it to project the Sun. Children need supervision from an adult familiar with safe operation.
