254 mm aperture in a full-tube Dobsonian.

The Saxon 10 Inch Dobsonian suits visual observers who want a substantial aperture for star clusters, nebulae and galaxies, alongside lunar and planetary viewing. Its manual mount puts you in control of finding and following each target.

254 mmaperture

A parabolic mirror for visual astronomy.

The mirror gathers light from the target. The Moon and planets are useful starting points; fainter nebulae and galaxies benefit from darker skies, and the detail visible changes with conditions.

1200 mmfocal length

The eyepiece changes the magnification.

The supplied 25 mm eyepiece gives 48×; the 10 mm gives 120×. Start at the lower power to locate and centre an object before trying a closer view.

Manualaiming

Follow the sky by hand.

Move the telescope up, down and around to aim it, then nudge it gently to follow a target as it drifts through the eyepiece.

Point, centre and follow the target.

The tube pivots up and down while the base turns left and right. Adjust the tension handle so the tube stays where you aim it and still moves when nudged. The full-length tube keeps the structure straightforward, but needs space in storage and transport. The 9x50 optical finder gives a separate aiming view to help locate a target. Adjust the Crayford focuser to sharpen the view.

Good to know.

01

Let the optics settle outdoors.

Allow the mirror to approach the outside temperature before judging a high-power view. A large temperature change or larger optics can require longer.

02

Check mirror alignment.

A Newtonian reflector uses aligned mirrors. Checking collimation helps keep detail sharp, particularly after transport.

03

Never point at the Sun without proper protection.

Never aim an unfiltered telescope or finder at the Sun. Looking through either can cause permanent eye damage.

Five-year limited warranty.

For new telescopes purchased from an authorised dealer, Saxon covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. Exclusions apply, including damage, misuse and normal wear.

Keep your proof of purchase and follow the warranty-card claim instructions. Saxon warranty terms and claim instructions.
