Having difficulty to polar align, especially in Southern Hemisphere? We have a solution: SkyGuider Pro Camera Mount with built-in iPolar!
The redesigned SkyGuiderTM Pro mount head is more compact, small enough to fit on your palm, better precision, silent tracking, built-in rechargeable power source, ST-4 guiding port and camera trigger port. The improved precision polar scope maintains a fine engraved reticule, now features adjustable illumination with different brightness levels. Using with our iOS app, quick and accurate polar alignment is just a joy. The DEC mounting bracket allows you to balance a heavy camera and/or lens better, or even mount a light telescope. The optional 8408 hand controller allows you to check the Pole Star position for the polar alignment, slew the mount, adjust the guiding rate, change the mount settings and control the camera trigger.
This mount has an integrated electronic polar finder scope known as the iPolar. This tool ensures the accurate alignment of a telescope, even when the pole star is obscured. There are large levers on the quick-lock drive engagement system; these large levers make it easy to snap the gears into place.
The SkyGuiderTM Pro features four tracking rates, 1X or sidereal, 1/2X for sky and landscape combined, solar and lunar. All 4 tracking rates work in both northern and southern hemispheres. We have also added a quick slew mode with both forward and reverse to help quickly reframing your image without disrupting the cameras position.
We have made big improvements on the SkyGuiderTM Pro’s removable alt-azimuth base, which features a precision bubble level, degree markings for the altitude and a built in post for the azimuth control. You can also mount the SkyGuiderTM Pro head (without the base) directly to any standard photographic tripod with 1/4” or 3/8” threads.
The DEC mounting bracket package, which includes DEC mounting bracket, counterweight shaft, counterweight and Vixen-type dovetail saddle, makes the SkyGuideTM Pro mount suitable for a heavier camera/lens system, even a lightweight telescope.
The SkyGuiderTM Pro is certainly a must have tool for any photographer interested in astroscape or wide field astrophotography.

It is recommended to use a counterweight of ≤5 kg. When using a 5 kg counterweight, the lever arm should be installed within the range of 20 cm to 30 cm. Assume the counterweight mass is m kg. The allowable lever arm length L is defined by: For example, if a 2 kg counterweight is used, the allowable range of L is from Specifications
(300:1 reduction ratio) reduction ratio strain wave gear + brake reduction ratio strain wave gear 20kg (with counterweight) @25cm GOTO: 12V/1.2A (1.7A-Heavy Load Mode) Included in the Box
For counterweights of other masses, the installation position can be calculated as follows:
10 N·m ≤ m × g × L ≤ 15 N·m where g = 9.8 m/s2,
which can be approximated as 10 m/s2.
10 N·m / (2 × 10 m/s2) = 0.5 m to

Celestron CGX German Equatorial Mount and Tripod
Introducing the Celestron CGX Mount. For eight years, Celestron’s workhorse CGEM mount lineup has been the German Equatorial backbone for telescopes ranging from 6 to 11 inches of aperture. Since that time, many more astro-imagers and planetarium controlled setups have emerged as backyard telescope technology has evolved. Celestron’s engineering team applied their years of experience designing German Equatorial mounts to the Celestron CGX EQ, a culmination of all the advancements made to our technologies, value, and ease-of-use.
The Celestron CGX was designed to better support your telescope for both visual and astro-imaging pursuits. Key design goals included a lower profile EQ head, which provides a more compact and therefore more stable setup; a better drive system; remote operation-friendly with home and limit optical sensors; easier polar alignment adjustments; and better cable management. In addition to that, we’ve made mechanical and ergonomic improvements throughout to make the mount sturdier, easier to use, and transport. The CGX is Celestron's Equatorial backbone to support a wide range of telescopes.

The Skywatcher NEQ6 Equatorial Mount has a well earned reputation as an affordable and capable GoTo mount for both visual and photographic use. Now Skywatcher has developed the enhanced, more versatile AZ-EQ6 GoTo Mount. This new mount promises to become a favourite among intermediate to experienced observers and astrophotographers. This three-in-one smart mount not only operates in equatorial GoTo mode holding one telescope, but also in Altazimuth GoTo & Tracking mode while holding one or even two different telescopes. Control the Skywatcher AZ-EQ6 via the included SynScan hand controller, or robotically with your PC/laptop, or even wirelessly from your iOS mobile device with Orion's StarSeek software and Wi-Fi module (sold separately).
In addition to the dual Altaz and EQ modes, the AZ-EQ6 boasts some other key enhancements, including a smooth and robust latitude adjustment for accurate polar alignment.
New RA and Dec clutches afford positive locking for heavy loads plus a thicker retractable counterweight shaft - 1" in diameter - and a thread-on shaft extension carry multiple counterweights with no chance of flexure.
The newly engineered equatorial head is lighter than the NEQ6, but will carry a 20kg telescope payload with ease. In Altazimuth GoTo & Tracking mode with two different telescopes, each side can hold up to a 9kg telescope. The mount comes standard with an upgraded belt-driven stepper motor drive system that can locate over 42,000 celestial objects of interest with pointing accuracy of 5 arc-minutes and tracking precision of 0.1436 arc-second steps.
The drive has closed-loop electronics, with two sets of encoders per axis, meaning that once it is aligned you can manually move the attached telescope to a new target (or accidentally bump into the telescope) and the mount will still know where it's pointing in the sky! What's more, after an inadvertent or intentional nudge, this smart mount can return to its last target or pinpoint any new target you select without requiring realignment.
This is a highly transportable, yet seriously heavy-duty mount; the mount and tripod weigh in at 23kg. (without counterweights) and the mount can be uncoupled from the tripod with a single hand knob. Loaded with great features, the Skywatcher AZ-EQ6 GoTo Mount has a secure, threaded power input jack; a built-in autoguider port for accurate astrophotographic use; and offers 9 different slew speeds (up to 4.2° per second). This performance-packed mount also features Permanent Periodic Error Correction (PPEC).
The Skywatcher AZ-EQ6's dual-width dovetail saddle accommodates both narrow (Vixen-style) and wide (Losmandy-style) dovetail attachment plates. Along with its sturdy steel-legged tripod, the mount also includes a second dovetail saddle for dual-telescope Altazimuth operations, illuminated polar axis scope with adjustable brightness, two 5.1kg counterweights, RS-232 communication cable, and 12-volt DC power cable with a secure threaded connector.
Whether you're seeking a reliable mount for astrophotography or just looking for an amazingly accurate GoTo platform for visual pursuits, let Skywatchers AZ-EQ6 shoulder the weighty responsibility for smooth, stable, and smart performance!

DESCRIPTION
The EQ8-R provides the next generation of Sky-Watcher’s popular high-capacity mount, the EQ8.
The R models offer a refined design to allow for better balance and more modern features to cater to today’s high-end imagers.
Built-in cable management
-
-
- USB 3.0 USB hub (4 ports)
- 2.1mm Power port (3 ports)
- 3 serial ports on the back of the saddle
- The EQ8-R features built-in cable management. This removes cable drag from hanging cables and reduces the risk of cables getting caught during imaging session. This capability also improves the mounts capabilities for remote use.
-
The built-in USB 3.0 hub allows you to simply plug in your camera, guider, filter wheel and other USB accessories into the hub below the saddle plate and connect them using a single USB cable plugged into the rear of the mount. No more tangled mess of cabled hanging or need for multiple cables running around the mount.
Another addition to the cable management system is the three built-in 2.1mm ports situated next to the USB hub. This allows your accessories to also be powered through the mount. This reduces the need for multiple power adapters and other accessories. The ports can be run off of a single power source providing a cleaner set up and less cables.
On the gear of the saddle are three serial ports for various accessories such as ST4 guide cables and other serial-based accessories. Like the rest of the cable management this reduces the hanging cables and provide a neat connection to the mount.
Motor Positioning
EQ8-R feature improved balance from their predecessor with redeposited motor housings. This improves the mount’s balance overall.
Belt Drive
Both mounts feature belt drive on both the RA and Dec axis. This allows for smoother guiding and reduced backlash.
Auto-Home
EQ8-R feature built-in homing sensors. This allows the mount to know its positioning more accurately from its start positioning.
Improved Clutches
The EQ8-R models feature improved clutches allowing for sturdier lock under heavy loads. Simply use the large levers to engage or disengage the axis of choice. The clutch lever are larger than the original EQ8 making it easier to adjust with gloves.
PC Direct Connect
EQ8-R also feature the new PC direct connect feature. Now you can easily connect your mount to your computer without the need of a hand controller. When paired with the SynScan Pro app. for Windows the mount can be aligned and controlled direct from a PC. This makes imaging refined and easier, especially for those with permanent set ups.

PlaneWave L350 Direct Drive Mount
The L-Series combines versatility, simplicity and affordability by combining all the technology of our Observatory class telescopes into a compact stand-alone mount. In its Alt/Az configuration it is considerably more compact than its equatorial counterpart, allowing a larger telescope to fit in a smaller enclosure. Unlike German Equatorial mounts, there are no meridian flips to deal with, and no large protruding counterweights to create a dangerous hazard in a public observatory. Alt/Az is more intuitive to use and no polar alignment is needed. Besides, it is the way the pros do it!
L-Series Mounts Features:
- Direct-drive motors on each axis for smooth, fast, and virtually silent movement of the telescope
- Slew speeds up to 50 degrees per second
- High resolution encoders on each axis for precise positioning
- Zero backlash
- Zero periodic error
- PointXP mount modeling software
- Enclosed electronics
- Through the mount cabling
FEATURES:
| Direct drive motors and encoders | Direct Drive motors and on-axis encoders eliminate the need for gears, thereby eliminating backlash and periodic error. With high-resolution encoders providing the feedback for the direct drive motors, not only will the telescope track without periodic error and backlash, the mount will also counter wind gusts with precise servo feedback. | |
| Incredible Slew Speed | The direct drive motors can move the telescope at speeds up to 50 degrees per second for tracking satellites or just to minimize target acquisition time. | |
| Dual mounting bracket | PlaneWave style mounting bracket to hold CDK17/20 onto inside of fork arm with additional option of mounting a scope on the outside of the fork arm. Optional dovetail clamp required. | |

Introducing the new Paramount MX Series 6 transportable observatory.
The Paramount MX Series 6 represents the latest in gear-driven GEM performance.
Its new features include a 25% instrument capacity increase, an option for absolute digital encoders, and multiple connectivity options.
The MX German equatorial mount has always been a popular Paramount model and the new Paramount MX Series 6 offers several important improvements.
On-axis Absolute Encoders vs. Motor-based Encoders.
Paramount's equipped with on-axis absolute encoders know where they are at all times. Paramount's with incremental encoders (or motor-based encoders) know only how far they have moved since they were initialized using a nightly process called homing.
The crucial additional difference is that the on-axis absolute encoders are fitted directly to the mount axes themselves, bypassing the worm drives. Paramount's with incremental encoders are fitted to the worms instead, which means that with incremental encoders alone, periodic errors in the worm drive show up in the tracking. These mounts must be calibrated and corrected using a process called periodic error correction (PEC), which measures and records the repeatable gear train errors and removes them. (TheSky features advanced, multi-harmonic PE detection and PEC calibration that minimizes periodic error in mounts with incremental encoders.)
For mounts with incremental encoders, homing re-zeros the encoders when precise sensors on each of the axes are reached. From then on, the incremental encoders are in effect delivering absolute readings.
However, the crucial additional difference remains, namely that the incremental encoder system is behind the worm drive, and periodic error correction is still required to get the best out of the RA tracking.
High-resolution on-axis absolute encoder technology is significantly more expensive than incremental encoders.
Are on-axis absolute encoders right for me ?
The short answer is, “it depends.”
Gear-driven Paramounts equipped with on-axis absolute encoders do not have periodic error, require no mechanical initialization (or homing), and the number of TPoint pointing samples needed for precision calibration is reduced.
These advantages expedite nightly setup, negate one-time periodic error training, and shorten the calibration process require to achieve spectacular pointing and tracking performance. However, the Paramount worm gear's uncorrected periodic error is low (below 7 arc seconds peak to peak), and, after a one-time PE training, periodic error correction (PEC) generally make it negligible. The Paramount without on-axis absolute encoders requires a nightly Find Home process that usually takes a minute or less to complete.
So, at least with Paramounts, periodic error is effectively in the noise, and homing straightforward.
What about pointing and tracking?
Without on-axis absolute encoders, Paramounts routinely produce 5-to-10-minute unguided exposures; many have reported 20 minutes. Also without on-axis absolute encoders, Paramount’s produce all-sky pointing accuracies at or below 30 arcseconds RMS (usually less than 15 arcseconds on fixed mirror telescopes).
Paramount’s exceptional software makes the above performance possible. TheSky Professional edition, in conjunction with TPoint™ and ProTrack™ the mount’s position is continually updated in both axes to correct system-wide pointing and tracking errors caused by tube flexure, atmospheric refraction, polar misalignment, harmonic errors from mis-centered encoders and/or worm gears, and more.
On-axis absolute encoders alone cannot correct these errors which exist with all telescopes. A properly applied telescope model is necessary to achieve superior pointing and tracking.
So are on-axis absolute encoders right for you? Perhaps if you want to enjoy the conveniences mentioned above. And for many, that’s enough. With that said, the optional on-axis 26-bit Renishaw absolute encoders with 0.02 arc second precision are the finest available and they operate in temperatures between +80°C and –40°C.

Phone and iPad/Tablet Control
This is a high precision equatorial mount with improved performance in every details from raw materials, number of bearings and cutting and processing every parts on the entire process. The equatorial mount is supplied with the wireless unit which allows you to make your smartphone or tablet as controller for celestial navigation as high precision tracking.
Wireless celestial navigation
STAR BOOK Wireless App inheriting the DNA of popular STAR BOOK TEN Controller
If you tap the celestial object you want to see on the star chart, it will be automatically slew into the field of view and tracking will start. Following the display of the STAR BOOK TEN controller, which has been highly evaluated for its comfortable operability, even existing STAR BOOK TEN users can use it without any discomfort.
Increased loading capacity from 12kg (SX2 equatorial mount) to 15kg
Rigidity and precision have been improved by changing the right ascension and declination rotation axis from aluminium alloy to thick steel, and changing the gear that is the key to the drive from aluminium to brass. Consequently the loading weight has also increased from 12kg of the SX2 equatorial mount to 15kg, making it possible to replace with a larger optical tube and add a SLR camera, CMOS camera, etc.
High precision for smoother motion.
A variety of parts of the mount have been improved such as by adding bearings to the right ascension, declination axes and worm screws, and reducing the eccentricity of the worm screw, and lapping (polishing) has been performed along with the entire circumference of the worm wheel to achieve extremely smooth motion.
Pulse motors improve stability and response of motions
Precision pulse motor (stepping motor) with micro-step motion control that drives at 250 pulses/second is used instead of the conventional DC motor offering very smooth control from low speed to high speed, and response to operation improved.
Easy-to-use polar alignment scope
It is a device that allows high-precision installation of equatorial mount with easy operation (for the northern and southern hemispheres). Built-in scale that shows the starry sky near the north celestial pole and south celestial pole).
The scale itself glows red, so dark stars don't get lost in the background. All adjustments can be made while looking through the polar alignment scope, making it very convenient in dark places. The brightness of the scale is adjustable in 8 steps, so you can use it at your preferred brightness. In addition, it will automatically turn off in 1 to 2 minutes (gradual dimming), and you can prevent forgetting to turn it off after use
Rationality based on mechanics: weightless structure (reduction of moment load)
The weightless structure cultivated in the SX series was inherited. By concentrating the main weight-bearing parts such as the motor, worm shaft, and worm wheel on the weight side, and shortening the distance from the fixed point to the mounting block (the place where the equipment is mounted), advantageous structure in terms of dynamics is adopted.
You can balance the weight with the loading equipment with less counterweight. Depending on the weight of the loading equipment, counterweight less is also possible.
Retractable counterweight shaft convenient for setup and withdrawal of equipment
Stainless steel with excellent corrosion resistance is used for the counterweight shaft. Retractable type that can be stored in the equatorial mount body allows speedy setup. You can use the counterweight common to the SX series of 20 mm in diameter.

The Paramount ME Series 6 remains an observatory favorite among professional and advanced-amateur astronomers.

The All NEW iOptron CEM120EC
An extraordinary innovation in mount design...Now with a new payload!
Recognizing the growing demand for an accurate and stable, equatorial mount with the versatility to carry larger instruments and more complex imaging arrays, we created the iOptron CEM120EC. It offers the benefits of our revolutionary “center balance” design: stability, accuracy, and smooth mechanical operation, while capable of carrying a payload up to 52 kg. The “center balance” design’s natural stability is due to its focusing the mount along with payloads weight directly over the center of the pier or tripod.
The CEM120EC's performance is demonstrated by its low periodic tracking error of <0.15 arcsec RMS. Along with the stability aspect, the CEM120EC features an advanced cable management system consisting of more ports in more locations preventing tangle ups and reducing the chance of fractured cables. It also adds some new features to the CEM family like Wi-Fi and LAN for remote operation and easy to use, reliable clutches on both axes.

The PlaneWave L500 combines versatility, simplicity and affordability by combining all the technology of our Observatory class telescopes into a compact stand-alone mount. In its Alt/Az configuration it is considerably more compact than its equatorial counterpart, allowing a larger telescope to fit in a smaller enclosure. The mass it takes to make a rigid alt/az mount is substantially less, leading to cost savings. Unlike German Equatorial mounts, there are no meridian flips to deal with, and no large protruding counterweights to create a dangerous hazard in a public observatory. Alt/Az is more intuitive to use and no polar alignment is needed. Besides, it is the way the pros do it!
Planewave L500 Mount Features:
- Direct-drive motors on each axis for smooth, fast, and virtually silent movement of the telescope
- Slew speeds up to 50 degrees per second
- High resolution encoders on each axis for precise positioning
