The hobby of amateur astronomy frequently takes the observer away from sources of AC power. After all, we are always in pursuit of the darkest skies possible, and that often means getting away from the city lights and going bush. The most common way to power your telescope in these situations is to use a commonly available, portable 12V battery pack or to use power from your car’s battery via the cigarette lighter.
The Celestron Car Battery Adapter is the accessory required for connecting any Celestron computerized telescope to a DC power supply or car battery. Plug the round post into the 12V input jack on the drive base of your telescope*, and insert the power connector into the cigarette lighter outlet in your car or on your power supply. The cord is 7.5m long, giving you plenty of reach between your telescope and 12V power source.
The barrel connector can be used with any telescope that uses a receptacle with an outside diameter of 5.5mm and an inner diameter of 2.1mm and a “tip positive” polarity.
*For use with the following telescopes:

Celestron has reinvented the manual telescope with StarSense Explorer DX 6 —the first telescope that uses your smartphone to analyze the night sky and calculate its position in real time. StarSense Explorer DX 6 is ideal for beginners thanks to the app’s user-friendly interface and detailed tutorials. It’s like having your own personal tour guide of the night sky.
Dock, Launch, Explore
Leave complicated star charts, imprecise planetarium apps, and computerized mounts behind. With StarSense Explorer, locating objects has never been easier, faster, or more accurate. Within minutes of setting up the telescope, you’ll be navigating the sky with confidence. Simply place your phone in the unique StarSense dock and launch the StarSense Explorer app. After aligning your phone to the telescope’s optics (a quick, 2-minute procedure), StarSense Explorer generates a list of celestial objects currently visible. Make your selection and arrows appear onscreen, guiding you as you to move the telescope. When the object is ready to view, the bullseye turns green.
Smartphone Compatibility
StarSense Explorer works with most modern smartphones, including iPhone 6 and up and most devices running Android 7.1.2 or later manufactured since 2016.
Patent-Pending StarSense Sky Recognition Technology
StarSense Explorer uses patent-pending technology and your smartphone to determine exactly where the telescope is pointed in the night sky. A Lost in Space Algorithm (LISA), like the ones satellites use in orbit to correctly reorient themselves, helps the app match star patterns it detects overhead to its internal database.
While other astronomy apps may claim that they can help you find objects, they rely exclusively on the phone’s gyros and accelerometers, which aren’t as accurate as LISA technology. No other app can accurately tell you when your target is visible in the eyepiece.
High Quality Altazimuth Mount with Slow Motion Control
An ultra-stable altazimuth mount provides a sturdy foundation for StarSense Explorer DX. Slip clutches and geared slow motion controls in both axes help you move the telescope smoothly and zero in your target. As celestial objects appear to drift across the night sky, you’ll be able to follow them with just a turn of the knobs. It’s all anchored by an adjustable, full-height tripod.
Dazzling Views with High Quality Optics
With a large 6” Schmidt-Cassegrain optical tube—Celestron’s tried-and-true optical design for over 50 years—this telescope has enough light gathering ability to bring out impressive detail in celestial objects while remaining compact and lightweight. You can expect sharp, bright views of Jupiter’s four Galilean moons, its cloud bands and Great Red Spot, the rings of Saturn, the trapezium in the Orion Nebula, and the beautiful Pleaides Open Star Cluster.
All air-to-glass surfaces are coated with our StarBright XLT optical coatings to visibly increase contrast and light transmission for brighter deep space views. With StarBright XLT, you’ll be able to discern subtle details while viewing the Moon and planets as well as faint galaxies and nebulae. For more information about our patented StarBright XLT coatings.
Perfect for the City or Dark Sky Sites
Even if you live in a light polluted city location, StarSense Explorer is advanced enough to be able to pick out Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, the Orion Nebula, double stars, and a few more of the most famous celestial objects.
But if you can take the telescope to an even slightly darker location, more objects will become visible. With this 6” Schmidt-Cassegrain and relatively dark skies, the Andromeda Galaxy, Hercules Open Star Cluster, and so many more are easily within your reach.

The launch of the “Astronomy” annual by Quasar Publishing has become one of the favourite events on the Australian astronomy calendar - and this is the last one!
Astronomy 2025 is the definitive book for amateur astronomers in Australia. Quasar Publishing has been producing these annual publications for 35 years.
These yearbooks are written by Australian Astronomers for Australian Astronomers.
The Astronomy 2025 yearbook has been designed for anyone who looks at the night sky whether you are using just your eyes, a pair of binoculars, or a telescope. The book has something for everyone from the basic novice up to the advanced amateur astronomer. This includes those with a casual interest who might just want to know, “what is that bright star next to the Moon?”
While there’s a swag of powerful apps available for your phone or tablet, none of have the same handy combination of info that’s in Astronomy 2024.
This Astronomy 2025 and a good planisphere are powerful tools for those first learning their way around the sky.
Every person worldwide from about the age of 2 years old up can point to the moon. Using this criterion the book can show you how to find the planets and many other bright objects in the night sky. The first section explains how to use the book followed by monthly sections that show the highlights for each month of the year starting with November and December of the previous year. A simple set of star charts in the middle uses seasons so that it is easy to follow. A very basic map of the moon shows most major features and highlights the Apollo landing sites. A guided tour from day 3 through to day 17 following the terminator is a great way to learn about the wonders seen on the lunar surface.
The second half of the book covers in great detail, the solar system data such as Sunrise and Sunset, Moonrise, and Moon set for each capital city in Australia. Solar and Lunar Eclipses are covered in great detail. Each of the Planets has a section with details of the best months to view it, its satellite details, and more. Comets, Asteroids visible for the coming year, and the dates to see the best Meteor showers. Basically, it is an astronomy library all in one book.

Sky-Watcher SW707 AZ2 Refractor Telescope
Learning or interested in Astronomy? This Sky-Watcher 70/700 Refractor Telescope is a highly affordable telescope which allows beginners to take their first steps into the world of Astronomy. Several accessories are provided, this telescope is suitable for both astronomical and terrestrial observations. Unlike many other beginner telescopes on the market, this Sky-Watcher 60/700 comes with standard 1.25″ focuser allowing a broad range of eyepiece and accessories to be used for a better viewing experience.
Equipped with a user-friendly alt-azimuth AZ2 mount, this Sky-Watcher telescope can move in both horizontal and vertical axes. It is designed for viewing the Sun (Solar Filter REQUIRED), the moon and bright planets, and terrestrial observation during the day.
The Refractor Advantage
Images viewed through a refractor telescope have a classic quality that other telescope designs lack. Since a refractor does not use mirrors to view objects, you get a generally sharper image. Images are also displayed without the secondary mirror shadow, making it suitable for terrestrial viewing when used with a 45° erecting image diagonal or an erecting tube.
Superb Imaging Qualities
This achromatic refractor from Sky-Watcher features an aperture of 70mm and it is fully multi-coated to enhance light transmission. It delivers clear, high contrast images of the moon and the planets. Those new to astronomy will appreciate how simple and easy this telescope is to use.

Lens Pen Hurricane Blower
After purchasing an optical component, exercising proper care in cleaning is important to maintain its quality and extend its usable lifetime. Using the correct product and method of cleaning are as important as actually cleaning the optics themselves.
Poor cleaning practices can damage polished surfaces or specialized coatings that have been used on optics such as lenses, mirrors and filters thus degrading performance.
A good hurricane blower is a must have in any cleaning kit. It will deliver a high volume burst of air and remove much of the dust on your delicate optics without actually touching the glass or its coatings.
Should always be used first when cleaning any optic to remove any dust particle prior to cleaning.
The LensPEN Hurricane blower has the following features:
- Perfect for cleaning dust off lenses, filters, CCD sensors and SLR mirrors.
- Powerful blasts of air clean safely.
- High quality non-toxic rubber bulb.
- Resistant to high and low temperatures and tear proof.

The power cord has been fused at 7 amps even though the controller is capable of amperages of 5 amps per channel (10 amps total). We do not recommend replacing the power cord fuse with a larger fuse as the power input socket is not rated for higher amperage.
The Standard Dual Channel has many new features but remains really simple to use. As well, it can handle more power and use that power more efficiently! This newest addition to Kendrick's Dew Remover Systems is sure to be a hit!
If you do not need to run more than 2 heater strips and are using smaller heater strips please consider the Kendrick Micro Controller. For ultimate control of dew, we recommend the DigiFire 8 and 12 controllers that feature digital control and also temperature sensing on the DigiFire 12.

Bintel UHTC Cleaning Solution
Our cleaning solution is the same solution as used in most optical labs worldwide. It is made using 99.7% Technical grade Isopropyl Alcohol, Blue Windex, Reverse Osmosis Water and Kodak Photoflow 200 (a wetting agent).
It is safe to use on coated optics including Corrector Plates, Objective lenses, Eyepieces, Binoculars, Filters, Camera Lenses and even your Spectacles
Method for cleaning Schmidt-Cassegrain Corrector Plates*
You should never attempt to remove the corrector plate. Cleaning of the Primary and Secondary mirrors can only be done in a workshop by trained technicians. Condensation in city areas will contain contaminates that can leave marks or spots on the corrector plate. Whilst they shouldn’t hurt the optics, it is nice for them to not be there. When telescopes are used away from the city, dust can be a problem. If the area you are in is dusty keep your covers on as long as possible. However, dust and marks on correctors are always going to happen. It is inevitable that fingerprints will somehow find there way onto your corrector plate. Fingerprints will damage the coatings and should be removed at first available opportunity.
- Be sure you hands are clean.
- First give the optical surface a good dusting with a hurricane blower or compressed air. This will remove any solid particles from the surface and prepare it for the next step.
- A fine hair brush can be used for getting into hard to reach places. This should be followed with another dusting with the hurricane blower.
- Take a sheet of soft, unscented tissue and lightly wet with a few drops of UHTC solution, best dispensed from a spray bottle.
- TAKE CARE NOT TO SATURATE THE TISSUE WITH LIQUID.
- Crumple the tissue up and WITHOUT APPLYING ANY PRESSURE wipe across the surface of the corrector plate.
- Discard the tissue and repeat this process until the whole of the corrector plate has been wiped clean.
- Crumple a dry soft, unscented tissue and gently wipe dry making sure not to use any pressure on the corrector plate.
- Your corrector plate will now be clean and ready for use again.
Instructions for Cleaning Coated Optics
*Bintel takes no responsibility for accidental damage to optics whilst employing the above method. If the steps are followed correctly, it is unlikely that you should have any issues.

A T-Ring is one of the first accessories you will need if you want to take pictures through a telescope or spotting scope. If you have a Canon EOS camera body, the Celestron EOS T-Ring is the one for you.
To use the Canon EOS T-Ring, remove the lens from your camera, and attach the T-Ring in its place, just as you would if you were mounting a lens. The telescope side of the T-Ring has threads that will accept a variety of camera adapters, including the Celestron T-Adapter or Tele-Extender. The adapter you choose depends on the type of photography you wish to do.
You can take pictures of terrestrial and/or celestial scenes by using a simple T-Adapter to turn your telescope or spotting scope into a large telephoto lens. The #93633-A T-Adapter is the best choice if you own a Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope with standard rear cell threads. If you have a refractor or spotting scope, the Universal T-Adapter (#93625), with its 1.25” barrel insert, is probably the best choice. There are also special T-Adapters for the EdgeHD optical system: one for the 8-inch EdgeHD (#93644) and one for the 9.25, 11, and 14-inch EdgeHD (#93646).
Prime focus photography is popular for short exposure images of terrestrial objects as well as celestial objects like the Moon.
If you need extra magnification beyond that which your Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope provides, a Tele-Extender (#93643) will allow you to insert an eyepiece inside the barrel before attaching it to the telescope. A Tele-Extender is used most often for high power images of the Moon and the planets.

ZWO 1.25″ IR UV CUT filter is suitable for colour camera with AR protect window.
The ZWO IR Cut Filter 1.25 blocks infrared light from reaching the sensor of your CCD or CMOS camera or your expensive H-alpha filter. When imaging, the addition of this simple and inexpensive accessory will result in sharper images, and when doing solar work, the IR Cut Filter will your protect H-alpha filter from the damaging effects of infrared radiation.
Infrared or IR light is invisible to the human eye, and so even though most telescopes are not designed to focus IR light, it does not matter when you are using your telescope visually. However, when you add a camera to the mix, its a whole other story! Unlike the human eye, a silicon sensor is very sensitive to light in the infrared portion of the spectrum, and that is a problem because infrared images are blurry as all get out. That means your nice, sharp visual light image is degraded by the addition of the infrared layer. This problem can easily be solved by blocking the infrared, and the ZWO IR Cu filter 1.25 will do just that.
The ZWO IR Cut filter is housed in a 1.25” cell, and has internal threads so that you can stack filters together. The filter comes with a protective plastic case.

With a large 102mm (4”) objective lens, this telescope has enough light gathering ability to bring out impressive detail in celestial objects. You can expect sharp, bright views of Jupiter’s four Galilean moons, its cloud bands and Great Red Spot, the rings of Saturn, the trapezium in the Orion Nebula, and beautiful Pleaides Open Star Cluster. Celestron’s XLT optical coatings improve light transmission, enhancing the views even more.
With this 4” refractor and relatively dark skies, the Andromeda Galaxy, Hercules Open Star Cluster, and so many more are easily within your reach.
The entire telescope kit weighs just 14.2 pounds, so it’s perfectly portable and easy to bring on your next camping trip or to a remote observing site.

Product Description
ASI294MC Pro
The ASI294 is the first camera in the world equipped with the latest Sony sensor IMX294CJK.
▶IMX294CJK
Sony 10.71M-Effective Pixel Color CMOS Image Sensor (official description from Sony site), with a diagonal of 21.63mm (4/3 format). ZWO has refined the sensor and remolded it to increase the diagonal to 23.2mm with approximately 11.71M-Effective pixels (4/3 format).
▶High-Sensitivity Type 4/3 CMOS Image Sensor that Supports 4K for Astronomic Cameras and Industrial Applications
The IMX294CJK sensor is the first in-house image sensor for astronomic cameras to adopt the 4/3 format and provides the necessary number of pixels for true 4k output at 120 frames per second (w/ ADC 10-bit output mode, the ASI294MC can run up to 25fps at 4k format when used with USB 3.0). In addition, the use of larger-sized pixels achieves SNR1s (link this to Sony’s page on SNR1s, so people know what it means) of 0.14 lx* which is very close to the value of the ASI224 (0.13 lx*).
▶Exceptional low-illumination performance
Exceptional low-illumination performance of SNR: 0.14 lx is realized by use of a large-size optical system and by expanding the area per pixel to 4.63 µm. This makes the IMX294CJK ideal for astronomic camera market applications that require low-illumination performance.
DDR Memory Buffer
The ASI294MC Pro camera includes a 256MB DDR3 memory buffer to help improve data transfer reliability. Additionally, the use of a memory buffer minimizes amp-glow, which is caused by the slow transfer speeds when the camera is used with a USB 2.0 port.
DDR memory buffer is the main difference between ASI “Cool” and “Pro” cameras.
14bit ADC w/ 13 stops DR
The ASI294 has a 14bit ADC unit, allowing it to achieve 13 stops of dynamic range. This is an excellent characteristic for deep sky imaging, which is inherently high dynamic range. At 13 stops, the ASI294 has even more dynamic range than the ASI1600.
HCG Mode
HCG (high conversion gain) mode, which reduces read noise to even lower levels at higher gain without loss to dynamic range, is automatically enabled when the gain setting is 120 or higher. Read noise will drop under 2e-, while dynamic range will remain at 13 stops.
63700e full well, which is 3 times than ASI1600’s capacity. Even bright stars won’t saturate under long exposure.
This camera can achieve higher SNR(signal to noise ratio) with just one single exposure.
Reliable Mechanics
ASI294MC Pro has same mechanics as ASI1600 Pro. There are four screws that seal the sensor chamber. Our camera design has been extensively tested and is very stable.
Even when used in higher humidity environments, ASI294MC Pro will still work fine without dew problems.
High QE
The IMX294 sensor is a BSI (backside illuminated type) sensor, which has very high QE (quantum efficiency, which we estimate is over 75% peak).
Dark Current
The dark current of the ASI294 is slightly higher than the ASI1600, based on our test results.
Dark frame sample @ Highest dynamic range settings, 300s, -10°C, bin1. Please check the dark frame to make sure you fully know the performance.
USB 3.0 Port & USB2.0 HUB
USB 3.0 Port: Provide 5Gb bandwidth to make it possible for ASI294 Pro to run at 16 fps (14bit, normal mode) or 19 fps (10bit, high speed mode) at full resolution(11.7Mega).
Recommended cooler power supply: 12V @ 3-5A (or more) DC adapter (2.1×5.5mm, center pole positive). Also suitable: DC battery with 9-15V. Buy the power supply from Bintel too!
Using a battery 9-15V is also suitable for the cooler power supply.
USB 2.0 HUB: can connect with various accessories, such as filter wheel, guide camera and electronic focuser, so you can better manage your cables. The ASI294 Pro includes two short 0.5m USB 2.0 cables. The integrated USB 2.0 hub is powered by the external power source if you connect one.
Cooling System
The ASI294 Pro has a 2-stage TEC cooling system that enables deep cooling (35°C-40°C below ambient). The cooler requires an external power supply, which is not included with the camera. You may order a suitable power supply from Bintel here.

Celestron MAK T-Adapter NexStar 4SE
This sturdy aluminum T-Adapter is the accessory of choice if you’d like to attach an SLR or DSLR camera to the smaller rear cell threads of a Celestron NexStar 4SE telescope or C90 spotting scope for prime focus photography.
To get started, you’ll need the appropriate T-Ring for your camera body. Remove the lens from your camera and attach the T-ring in its place. Since the T-ring is camera-brand specific, it will snap right on just like a lens. Next, remove any accessories from the rear cell of your telescope.
Screw the Celestron NexStar 4SE T-Adapter onto the rear cell threads until secure. Now, thread the T-ring & camera onto the T-Adapter. That’s all there is to it. The camera is now using your telescope as a telephoto lens.
Prime focus photography is popular for short exposure images of terrestrial objects as well as celestial objects like the Moon.

The SkyWatcher Dobsonian 6 Inch Telescope 153mm/1200mm has a "parabolic" primary mirror to eliminate spherical aberration and a four-arm, secondary- mirror bracket with fine supports (0.5mm thick), to reduce diffraction spikes and light loss. In addition, this model includes a 2" focuser with a 1.25" adapter, allowing the use of either eyepiece size. This model also includes a new feature - tension control handles allow an adjustment of the level of friction applied during use.
WHAT is a Dobsonian Telescope and WHY are they so damn cheap!?
A simple, elegant form of an alt-azimuth mount made to carry a Newtonian reflector was popularised by John Dobson in the late 1970's. The Dobsonian mounted telescope is most popular among amateur astronomers and telescope makers because of its simplicity. The metal tube is almost entirely empty, save for the large primary mirror at the bottom. A ground-based mount replaces the expensive tripod found under most other telescopes, but still allows full pivot and swivel motions. This build saves hundreds of dollars compared to equivalently-sized 6 inch SCT or refractor telescopes, and you end up being able to see the same level of detail for a fraction of the cost!
So, what's the catch?
Dobsonian telescopes are large and bulky. This means they are difficult to store and transport. If you need something small and easily portable, tripod mounted refractors and cassegrains are a much better option (although at a higher cost). Otherwise, you should seriously considering buying a Dobsonian, because the details you can see through one are truly out of this world.

A piggyback bracket is a simple astronomical accessory that can help you produce stunning photographs of the night sky. It allows you to attach a DSLR camera and lens to any Celestron SCT optical tube assembly and take advantage of the fact that your telescope has a dual-axis motor drive. When your telescope is running with the camera attached, you can take longer exposures without star trails, and capture details in objects that would have been impossible had your camera been attached to a photographic tripod or a telescope without a drive system.
StarSense Explorer DX 5 works with most modern smartphones, including iPhone 6 and up and most devices running Android 7.1.2 or later manufactured since 2016.
With a large 5” Schmidt-Cassegrain optical tube—Celestron’s tried-and-true optical design for over 50 years—this telescope has enough light gathering ability to bring out impressive detail in celestial objects while remaining compact and lightweight.
