Compact 50m mm spotting scope with tabletop tripod and carry bag
Highlights
- 45° Angled Viewing
- 12-45x Zoom Eyepiece
- 50mm Objective Lens
- Advanced MultiGuard Lens Coating System
- Nitrogen-Filled Water and Fogproof
- Lightweight Aluminum-Alloy Chassis
- Compact Tabletop Tripod with Head

Utilizing a moderate 50mm objective lens keeps the overall form factor small to make it easier to pack and carry in the field, and their Advanced MultiGuard lens coating system boosts its performance in low and challenging conditions while ensuring the views remain bright and clear. Its broad zoom range allows you to more easily scan the landscape for targets at the low 12x with the ability to quickly dial up the power to 45x and make detailed observations of distant subjects.
The chassis is made of a lightweight and durable aluminum alloy that is protected by a black rubber armor. The chassis is nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to be waterproof and resistant to internal fogging even in extreme weather and temperature conditions. The angled-viewing configuration sets the eyepiece at a 45° angle to the scope's body, which places the user's head in a more comfortable viewing position versus straight-through viewing models. A 1/4"-20 mount makes it compatible with many tripods, quick release plates, and other popular support systems like window mounts, and Vanguard includes a compact tabletop tripod to get you observing right out of the box. A lightweight carrying bag makes it easy to carry in the field.

From $350.00
The Astronomik H-alpha 12nm XT Clip-Filter is a premium narrowband emission-line filter engineered for imaging hydrogen nebulae from both light-polluted and dark observation sites. It isolates the H-alpha emission line at 656nm, dramatically enhancing contrast between hydrogen-alpha-emitting objects and the sky background — while blocking sodium (Na) and mercury (Hg) vapour lamp emissions, LED light maxima, natural airglow, and moonlight from UV through IR.
The XT (Extra Thin) version is coated on an ultra-thin 0.3–0.5mm substrate, specifically designed for wide-angle lens astrophotography. This significantly reduces optical aberrations that standard clip-filters can introduce at the edges of widefield images, delivering sharp, crisp stars all the way to the corners.
⚠ WARNING: This filter MUST NOT be used for solar observation.
Why 12nm FWHM?
The 12nm Full-Width-Half-Maximum bandpass is the ideal choice for DSLR and mirrorless cameras with CMOS sensors, CCD cameras with normal-to-high dark current, and imaging from suburban or dark-sky locations. It also passes more guide stars than narrower alternatives (6nm / 4nm), making it the preferred option for cameras with integrated or dual guiding sensors. In low light-pollution areas, the background signal is typically limited by sensor dark current rather than skyglow — so a narrower FWHM provides no additional benefit.
Choose Your Coating: MFR or MaxFR
Both coatings deliver exceptional out-of-band blocking from UV to IR, extremely high contrast, minimised stray light, zero halos, and needle-sharp stars.
| Coating | Optimal Aperture Range | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| MFR | f/3 to f/∞ | All-round use — telescopes and lenses at moderate to slow focal ratios |
| MaxFR | f/1.7 to f/8 (≈85% transmission at f/1.4) | Ultra-fast optical systems — fast camera lenses and fast astrographs |
MaxFR variants are available for Canon EOS R, Nikon Z, Nikon XL, and Sony Alpha 7 mounts.
Choose Your Camera Mount
Select the clip-filter variant that matches your camera body. Each clips directly into the camera's lens mount — no tools, no camera modifications, no adapters required. All lens functions (focus, aperture, image stabilisation) remain fully operational.
| Variant | Camera System | Available Coatings |
|---|---|---|
| EOS APS-C | Canon EOS APS-C DSLRs (7D, 20D–90D, 100D–4000D series, Rebel series) & EOS M via EF-M adapter | MFR |
| EOS M | Canon EOS M mirrorless (M, M2, M3, M5, M6, M6 II, M10, M50, M100, M200) | MFR |
| EOS R XL | Canon EOS R mirrorless full-frame (R, RP, R3, R5, R5 II, R6, R6 II, R8) & APS-C (R7, R10, R50, R100) | MFR · MaxFR |
| EOS XL | Canon EOS full-frame DSLRs (5D, 5D II, 5D III, 6D) | MFR · MaxFR |
| Nikon Z XL | Nikon Z full-frame mirrorless (Z5, Z6/II/III, Z7/II, Z8, Z9, Zf) | MFR · MaxFR |
| Nikon XL | Nikon full-frame DSLRs (D750, D800, D810; D780 & D850 limited*) | MFR · MaxFR |
| Sony Alpha 7 | Sony Alpha 7 & Alpha 9 series (all full-frame E-mount variants) | MFR · MaxFR |
* Nikon D780 & D850: after a firmware update, electronic-contact lenses require a workaround (tape over lens contacts) or use of manual-focus lenses / T-adapters only.
Advantages of the Clip-Filter Design
- Installs and removes in seconds — no tools or camera modifications needed, even in the dark
- All lens functions (focus, aperture, IS) remain fully operational
- Works with both camera lenses and telescopes
- Eliminates the cost of oversized front-mounted filters for large lenses
- No back-focus shift — unlike filter drawers or holders between body and lens
- Compatible with fast astrographs (e.g. Vixen R200SS, Takahashi Epsilon) where filter wheels can't be used
- Doubles as a sensor dust shield during long exposures
XT (Extra Thin) Technology
Standard clip-filters can introduce star elongation in the outermost corners when used with very short focal length lenses. The XT series solves this with an ultra-thin 0.3–0.5mm substrate — significantly reducing aberrations while maintaining the highest optical quality: finely polished, striae-free, stress-free, bubble-free glass suitable for the most demanding imaging applications.
XT filters use the same durable coating technology as all Astronomik filters — extremely scratch-resistant, humidity-proof, and backed by a 10-year warranty.

Tracking and GoTo
The goal is simple. Solid tracking and reliable GoTo under real payload, so you spend less time managing limits and more time imaging and exploring the night sky.
A Mount for the Long Haul
The ZWO AM7 handles both small and heavy setups, so you can grow into bigger telescopes without outgrowing your mount.
*Weights are manually measured and may vary slightly.
Professional Grade Precision With a Custom Harmonic Drive Mount
Built out of years of ZWO development and tuned for astrophotography, the ZWO AM7's custom harmonic drive is designed for smooth, stable tracking with strong torque and consistent performance.
Every ZWO AM7 is individually tested at the factory before it ships. You get a unique periodic error curve report for your mount, so you can see the measured tracking performance of the exact unit you own.
Key specs and testing:
- Custom harmonic drive system
- Total harmonic gear reduction ratio 300 to 1
- Individual periodic error test report included
- Periodic error controlled within plus or minus 10 arcseconds for dependable high precision tracking. (That's the thickness of a human hair viewed from about 20 meters away).
Clean Cables. Less Mess. Fast Setup.
A lot of telescope setups end up as a tangle of wires and extra adapters. The ZWO AM7 is built to keep things cleaner and simpler.
With built in USB-C and power ports on the mount, you can run power and data where you need it without cables hanging everywhere. Even if you have a custom rig with a camera, focuser, guide gear, and other accessories, the AM7 helps reduce clutter so you can set up faster and spend more time imaging the night sky.
Cable Management Made Simple
Integrated USB C and DC Power Ports
At only 6.75 kg, the ZWO AM7 is designed to be easy to carry and quick to set up. The built in dovetail plate includes a USB C port and DC power outlets, so you can route power and data through the mount instead of running a mess of cables around it. The result is cleaner cable routing and far less of the usual cable spider web.
For mount adjustments when needed, the ZWO AM7 also includes a magnetic hex wrench that stores directly on the mount body, so it stays close at hand and does not get lost in the dark.
Dual Mode Operation
One Mount for Viewing and Imaging
The ZWO AM7 supports two modes so you can use the same mount for casual observing or serious imaging. Switching modes is done with a quick hardware change to the mount's position, then you select the mode on the hand controller.
Equatorial Mode
Best for accurate sky tracking for imaging and longer sessions.
Alt Azimuth Mode
Best for visual observing with quick setup and simple pointing.
Mode Indicator Lights
Red means Equatorial Mode
Green means Alt Azimuth Mode
The ZWO AM7 supports a full 0 to 90 degree altitude adjustment range, so it can be aligned and used almost anywhere on Earth, from the equator to the poles. That makes it a practical choice for travel or a permanent setup, no matter where you observe.
How the two stage adjustment works
Stage one adjustment range
Use the altitude adjustment knob for 0 to 60 degrees.
Stage two adjustment range
Move the hex screw to the second position to enable 30 to 90 degrees.
User-friendly Design
Portable Control, Refined
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Connectivity
The ZWO AM7 gives you two simple ways to connect, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, so control is always straightforward.
Bluetooth makes quick sessions easier. Open your phone, connect directly, and control the mount without a hand controller. No need to switch your device over to the mount’s Wi Fi network just to get running.
What is new in the latest version
Bluetooth control
You can turn Bluetooth on or off by holding the BT button for 10 seconds. The setting is saved, even after power off.
A cleaner indicator light
A new light guide column softens the LEDs, so the status lights are easier on your eyes at night and won't interfere with your camera's either.
AM7 Smart Hand Controller
More Than a Controller
The ZWO AM7 includes a joystick style hand controller designed for comfortable, and intuitive control. It is also a built in connection hub for the mount. With its integrated Wi-Fi hotspot, you can control the mount wirelessly, manage settings through a simple web interface, and perform firmware updates for both the hand controller and the mount. This is the main path for keeping the system current.
- Bluetooth When You Want It
- Off When You Need It
Bluetooth control is a convenient option for direct smartphone control in the field. But some environments need tighter wireless control, like remote observatories or permanent installations where interference or policy requirements matter. For those cases, AM7 lets you easily disable Bluetooth when needed, then enable it again when it makes sense.
Hollow-knob ergonomic design
The dovetail plate tension knob and azimuth fine-tuning knob feature a hollow structure. When manual rotation is limited, you can insert a hex wrench to gain extra leverage, making adjustments easier and more reliable with less effort.
Smart Control, Easy Operation
Sky Atlas Mobile App for iOS and Android
The ZWO AM7 can be controlled wirelessly using the Sky Atlas app on iOS and Android. You get a live star map, simple object search, and quick tools like Tonight’s Best, target GoTo, and precise pointing to the objects you want to observe or image.
Works Smoothly With ASIAIR in Station Mode
The ZWO AM7 also supports station mode, which makes it easy to integrate with a controller like ASIAIR. With the hand controller providing Wi-Fi, ASIAIR can connect to the mount over the network, so you can run a clean setup without a direct control cable between the AIR and the mount.
Seamless Integration With ASIAIR
ASIAIR can connect to and control the ZWO AM7 using either wireless or wired connections, so it fits cleanly into a wide range of setups.
Because the ZWO AM7 and ZWO ASIAIR are part of the same ecosystem, it takes the guesswork out of driver support and compatibility. You are not stitching together software from different vendors and hoping everything plays nicely. And as ASIAIR software continues to evolve with new features, you can count on AM7 support to keep pace, with new mount capabilities integrated directly within the same system.

The payload capacity of the ZWO AM7 equatorial mount is derived from the simulation calculations as shown in the figure above:
1. Maximum payload without counterweight: 20 kg (corresponding to a maximum output torque of 40 N·m).
2. It is recommended to use a counterweight ≤ 10 kg. When using a 10 kg counterweight, please install it with a moment arm between 20 cm and 30 cm.
For other counterweight masses, the allowable installation position can be calculated as follows:
Assuming the counterweight mass is m kg, the allowable moment arm length L must satisfy:
20 N·m ≤ m * g * L ≤ 30 N·m
Where g = 9.8 m/s² (can be approximated as 10 m/s² for calculation).
For example, with a 5 kg counterweight: L ranges from 20 N·m / (5 × 10 m/s²) = 0.4 m to 30 N·m / (5 × 10 m/s²) = 0.6 m.

Hubble UL12 – 12" Lightweight Reflector Telescope
Hubble UP12 – An Ultra-Portable 12" Dobsonian Telescope
The Hubble UP12 is a premium 12-inch Dobsonian designed for observers who want serious optical performance in an exceptionally compact and travel-friendly form. Weighing just 14.5 kg) fully assembled, the UP12 delivers true large-aperture performance in a package that can be transported, stored, and deployed with ease.
Once disassembled, the UP12 can be packed into airline-approved luggage, making it one of the most portable 12-inch telescopes available. This is a genuine “take anywhere” instrument for dark-sky trips, remote expeditions, and observers who value performance without bulk.
Light, Compact and Truly Portable
The UP12 is less than half the weight of a traditional 12-inch Dobsonian. Its modular construction allows the entire system to be assembled in just a few minutes, with no heavy components and no complex setup.
All major structural elements are made from precision-machined aluminium alloy, providing excellent rigidity while keeping weight to an absolute minimum. The result is a telescope that feels effortless to transport, yet remains mechanically stable at high magnifications.
Optical Performance
The UP12 uses a premium parabolic primary mirror, individually tested and finished to achieve diffraction-limited performance (Strehl 0.95+). The secondary mirror is specified to 1/10 wave or better, delivering high contrast and sharp stellar images across the field.
Both mirrors receive 96% enhanced reflective coatings, maximising light throughput and reducing scatter. From a dark sky site, the UP12 is capable of revealing most NGC objects, subtle structure in bright nebulae, fine planetary detail on Jupiter and Saturn, and even challenging targets such as the Horsehead Nebula when used with appropriate filters.
A Perfect Balance of Power and Portability
The UP12 gathers around 44% more light than a 10-inch telescope, yet remains dramatically smaller and lighter than traditional 12-inch designs. Its full 12-inch optical surface (with a generous 12.4-inch overall diameter) provides slightly more true light-gathering area than many mass-produced 12-inch mirrors.
This balance makes the UP12 a telescope that actually gets used. It is large enough to deliver meaningful deep-sky performance, yet portable enough to be taken out frequently without hesitation.

Hubble UL32 – 32" Lightweight Reflector Telescope
The Hubble UL32sg is a flagship 32-inch Dobsonian telescope designed for serious deep-sky observers, research-grade visual work, and advanced EAA applications. With a massive 32-inch primary mirror, the UL32sg delivers 16 times the light grasp of an 8-inch telescope and four times that of a 16-inch, revealing galaxies, nebulae, and fine structure at a level few instruments on Earth can match.
Despite its extraordinary aperture, the UL32sg is engineered to remain as compact and transportable as possible for its class. Fully assembled, the telescope weighs around 150 kg and features a modular, all-metal construction with sectional truss tubes and a folding altitude bearing structure. A real mirror box provides safe protection for the primary mirror during transport and storage.
Light, Strong, Compact and Still Portable
The UL32sg is built using precision-machined aluminium alloy components, extensively modelled with CAD and FEA to optimise structural rigidity while minimising weight. Eight rigid sectional truss tubes ensure excellent stiffness and collimation stability, even at extreme elevations.
While the UL32sg is not a casual backyard instrument, it remains one of the most compact and practical 32-inch class telescopes available, capable of being transported and assembled by a small team for dark-sky expeditions, observatories, and research installations.
Revolutionary Smart Go-To System
The UL32sg is supplied exclusively in a Smart Go-To configuration, built around the state-of-the-art OnStep control system. This advanced platform combines fully motorised Go-To, high-resolution encoders, and a revolutionary plate-solving smart finder for unmatched pointing accuracy.
Using the system is simple: select a target via the smart hand controller or third-party software such as SkySafari or Stellarium, then with a single button press the telescope captures an image, plate-solves its position, and automatically refines its pointing until the target is perfectly centred.
The system supports automated star alignment, automated “Star Shows” such as Messier Marathons, intelligent routing to reduce slewing time by 30–50%, and full EAA live stacking for electronically assisted observing.
Connectivity includes built-in WiFi and Bluetooth, INDI and ASCOM drivers, real-time clock, spiral search, park/unpark, and full sidereal, lunar, and solar tracking rates. Control is available via smart hand controller, desktop software, or mobile apps on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android.
Exclusive Sandwich Mirror Technology
The UL32sg uses a lightweight sandwich primary mirror designed to reach thermal equilibrium far faster than traditional solid mirrors. Rapid cooling dramatically reduces mirror seeing and internal turbulence, allowing the telescope to achieve its full optical potential much sooner in real-world conditions.
Unlike thick solid mirrors that may never stabilise during changing temperatures, the sandwich design delivers sharp, stable images without the need for active cooling systems, avoiding vibration and mechanical complexity.
Enhanced Optical Coatings
Both primary and secondary mirrors receive 96% enhanced dielectric coatings with multiple precision-controlled layers. These coatings maximise reflectivity, reduce scatter, and provide excellent chemical and mechanical durability, delivering bright, high-contrast images even at extreme magnifications.
Real Mirror Cell in a Real Mirror Box
The UL32sg features a fully engineered 27-point flotation mirror cell with sling and 90-degree pivoting lateral supports. This system prevents mirror deformation and eliminates astigmatism commonly caused by simpler collimation designs.
The independent three-point rod-end collimation system allows precise adjustment without stressing the mirror edge, maintaining optical integrity under all observing orientations.
Dual-Speed 2" Linear Bearing Crayford Focuser
The UL32sg is fitted with a precision 2-inch dual-speed linear bearing Crayford focuser, capable of handling heavy modern eyepieces and imaging equipment. The fine focus control provides ten times finer adjustment for critical focusing at high power or during EAA use, with approximately 50 mm of travel.

Hubble UL24 – A Lightweight 24" Dobsonian Telescope
The Hubble UL24 is a made-to-order 24-inch Dobsonian telescope, designed for experienced observers who want truly extreme aperture without sacrificing transportability.
With a huge 24-inch primary mirror, the UL24 delivers around nine times the light grasp of an 8-inch telescope and four times that of a 12-inch, revealing ultra-faint galaxies, subtle nebular structure, and fine detail in planetary nebulae that smaller instruments simply cannot reach.
Light, Strong, and Surprisingly Portable
The UL24 features a precision-machined all-metal construction with eight rigid aluminium truss tubes and an extremely strong folding altitude bearing structure. Despite its massive aperture, the complete telescope weighs only around 70 kg, making it dramatically lighter than traditional 24-inch Dobsonians.
A real mirror box protects the primary mirror during transport, while the modular design allows the telescope to be broken down into manageable components for storage and travel. The heaviest single component is the primary mirror at around 30 kg, allowing one person to realistically transport the system to dark-sky locations.
Optical Performance
At the heart of the UL24 is a premium parabolic primary mirror with a full 24-inch optical surface and an overall diameter of 24.4 inches. This provides around 4% more true optical area than many other 24-inch designs that use undersized optical surfaces.
Each mirror is individually tested and finished to achieve diffraction-limited performance, with a Strehl ratio of 0.95+ for the primary and 1/10 wave or better for the secondary. Both mirrors receive 96% enhanced reflective coatings, maximising light throughput and contrast while reducing scatter.
The fast f/3.3 focal ratio keeps the eyepiece height to just 1955 mm at zenith, allowing most observers to use the telescope without a ladder while still enjoying extreme aperture.
Choose Your Telescope Control
The UL24 can be customised to suit your observing style. You can use it fully manually, or opt for Guided Push-To or Automatic Go-To systems.
Manual Mode
Even without electronics, the UL24 remains a highly refined Dobsonian with smooth, stable motion and precise balance. Manual observing delivers the classic deep-sky experience at a scale few observers ever reach.

Smaller central obstruction (3.5" secondary vs 4.0" on f/3.7)
-
Easier to achieve perfect collimation
-
Better suited for high-magnification lunar and planetary observing
-
A coma corrector is helpful but not essential for many users
Why choose f/3.3 or f/3.7?
-
No ladder required at all for f/3.3; only a small step may be needed for f/4.2 near zenith
-
Extremely wide true field of view, especially with f/3.3
-
Ideal for sweeping large nebulae and rich Milky Way fields
All three versions deliver extraordinary performance. A coma corrector is strongly recommended for the UL20 f/3.3, while the f/4.2 prioritises optical cleanliness and ease of use.
Thanks to Hubble’s two-section truss design for f/4.2 (single-section for f/3.3 and f/3.7), all versions remain equally rigid and transportable. Please note that counterweights may be required for balance, depending on configuration, and are not included.
